- The teller of this tale decided to spend a restorative summer in the guise of a dogwood tree. Trance Figuration is a short, surreal visual poem written by one of Canada's eminent creative voices, the late Virgil Burnett, a renowned author, publisher and illustrator. Directed by Paddy Gillard-Bentley and produced, shot and edited by Lindsay Stewart, Trance Figuration is brought to life with a remarkable and brave performance by Katharine Mills. This dendromorphic meditation is somehow earnest, certainly odd and perhaps unsettling. Filmed in rural Waterloo County to a soundtrack of birds and bugs, motorcycles and Mennonite buggies, Trance Figuration is a co-production by GNP Moving Pictures and Flush Ink Productions, 2013.
