- Guillermo Castro and Alejandro Castro live in Mexicali, a town near the US-Mexico border. Their father went to Calexico to work for the future of the two brothers since five years ago. The family lost contact with him a few years. Following their mother's death, the two brothers face hardship and they live in complete destitute situation. Finally, they decide to leave the country and look for their father in Calexico where they believe their father is still working. With the help of two coyotes, Eduardo Santos and Jimmy Clark, the two brothers try to cross the US-Mexico border. Unfortunately, they couldn't continue the journey because of tight border police patrols along the border. Jimmy asks them to pay him $500 more to continue the trip. The brothers do not respond. Then, the coyote leave them in the middle of the desert area. The two brother encounter lack of food and water. Besides, Alejandro isn't strong enough to face the severe weather situation of the desert. He decides to go back to Mexicali. Then, the two brothers have a conflict, they fight and split. Seeing a border police patrol on his way back home, Alejandro frightens that he goes back to the place where he left Guillermo. But, he doesn't see his brother. He chase the brother and gets injured for walking among the rocks. He finds his brother, calls him and falls down. Guillermo sees his brother's call and fall. He runs to Alejandro. The two brother reunite and continue their journey until they see Calexico under the sun light in the next morning.
