- Silent Warrior is the account of J. Curtis Goldman, a World War II glider pilot who fought in the European Theater of Operations from 1944-45 with the 99th Squadron, 441st Troop carrier Group. Goldie, as he was known by his friends, was born looking for a fight. Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7. 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps because he wanted to be a fighter pilot. After failing his eye-exam, the buck sergeant told him they would give him a waiver if he would fly gliders. J. Curtis Goldman accepted the offer and began one of the most exciting chapters of his life.
