- DirectorJodie FosterStarsHolly HunterAnne BancroftRobert Downey Jr.After losing her job, making out with her soon-to-be former boss, and finding out that her daughter plans to spend Thanksgiving with her boyfriend, Claudia Larson faces spending the holiday with her family.Eric B says: "Home for the Holidays (1995) is PG-13 and maybe not entirely appropriate for the younger ones, but a very funny look at a holiday get-together for a highly dysfunctional family."
A second vote from Chris H: "hollly hunter and robert downey jr (just post-crazy i believe) it's funny. it may also involve baltimore. i watch movies that don't take place in baltimore, i swear." - DirectorCharles ShyerStarsSteve MartinDiane KeatonMartin ShortWith his oldest daughter's wedding approaching, a father finds himself reluctant to let go.This is one of my favorites. It's full of family and planning for more family. It's not set during the holiday season, but it has all of the family goodness.
- DirectorMichael ClancyStarsRay RomanoJesse BradfordHank AzariaA black comedy that follows three generations of a family, who come together for the funeral of the patriarch - unveiling a litany of family secrets and covert relationships.Ok... so a black comedy set at a funeral is a little dark for a 'home for the holidays' list. But this movie is a family gathering full of funny, heartwarming and quirky moments.
