Cannes Film Festival 2011
I have just returned from another excellent Cannes Film Festival. Cannes is a festival like no other. I am generally busy with meetings and events so it's not a place where there's a huge volume like Sundance or Toronto. The blend of movies and quality is always exciting. Here are the ones I saw this time, in viewing order. The festival was very busy this year and definitely a hit so I actually failed to get into a few unticketed "first come, first served" industry screenings despite arriving early for both (this seemed to be a common experience).
I should point out that I attended from the opening night (11 May) and left early on 18 May so in several cases I simply did not have the opportunity to catch the films. For example, Melancholia, Drive and La piel que habito had all yet to play. Our complete guide to films at Cannes is available here.
