Comedy for Stoners (or People Who Don't Take Life Too Seriously)
The best comedies for stoners (or people who don't take life too seriously). Not all stoner comedies, but there are some in there. A lot of these films don't get the greatest ratings, but I think all of these are at least worth an 8, if not more. CSS in the description is short for 'Contains Smoking Scene(s)', the rest do not as far as I'm remembering. I am continuously adding movies and trying to keep them in alphabetical order. Anyone PM if they have any others.

- DirectorPeter SegalStarsAdam SandlerDrew BarrymoreRob SchneiderHenry Roth is a man afraid of commitment until he meets the beautiful Lucy. They hit it off and Henry think he's finally found the girl of his dreams until discovering she has short-term memory loss and forgets him the next day.Not as romcom-cheesy as it looks. There is romance, but the storyline is interesting and fairly original, as well as being realistically done. It's funny too, as short term memory loss always is haha.
- DirectorJohn FortenberryStarsChris KattanWill FerrellRaquel GardnerTwo dim-witted brothers dream of owning their own dance club or at least getting into the coolest and most exclusive club in town, The Roxbury.A pair of complete dopes and their rise to success. Was actually based on a SNL sketch, and parodies quite well early 90s generic lameness.
- DirectorSteve PinkStarsJustin LongJonah HillBlake LivelyA high school slacker who's rejected by every school he applies to opts to create his own institution of higher learning, the South Harmon Institute of Technology, on a rundown piece of property near his hometown. This one passed me by somehow, but it's awesome. A bunch of clever drop-kicks start up a college when they've been rejected. A feel-good film where the underdog makes good, and the soundtrack is fantastic.
- DirectorSteve OedekerkStarsJim CarreyIan McNeiceSimon CallowAce Ventura, Pet Detective, returns from a spiritual quest to investigate the disappearance of a rare white bat, the sacred animal of a tribe in Africa.Far superior to the original film, and I would say straight up to just watch this one. You won't be lost or confused; it has the same jokes, but slightly less of that over-the-top Jim Carrey cheese.
- DirectorMichael LehmannStarsBrendan FraserSteve BuscemiAdam SandlerThree band members hoping for a big break head to a radio station to play their demo tape and wind up holding everyone hostage with plastic guns when the head D.J. refuses to play them. This one is slightly out of date, but if you ignore the horrible hair and fashion it's just a hilarious slapstick - a bunch of unknown heavy metal musicians accidentally take an entire radio station hostage. The three leads are impeccable, as is the supporting cast.
- DirectorJ.B. RogersStarsJason BiggsSeann William ScottShannon ElizabethJim and his friends are now in college, and they decide to meet up at the beach house for some fun.I'd probably only rec this to people who grew up in the 90s, because this was our 'Animal House' - everyone loved it at the time, but as time's gone by more modern and relevent comedy have taken it's place many times over. But it's great for a lol, cheap sex jokes and 90s poprock.
- DirectorAdam McKayStarsWill FerrellChristina ApplegateSteve CarellIn the 1970s, an anchorman's stint as San Diego's top-rated newsreader is challenged when an ambitious newswoman becomes his co-anchor.Everyone should know this one, and if you're anti-Will Ferrell, this isn't really the list for you. I admit it took me more than one watch, but only coz I didn't blaze the first time. You should, it just makes it unbearably funny.
- DirectorAdam McKayStarsWill FerrellChristina ApplegatePaul RuddWith the 1970s behind him, Ron Burgundy, San Diego's former top-rated newsreader, returns to take New York City's first twenty-four-hour news channel by storm.Part two of the Burgundy misadventures: the birth of the sensationalism of soft news. I don't understand how anyone who like the first can't like this. Hilarious, insane, extreme. And how did they find such a cool plot? Original for the franchise, even original just compared to standard comedies these days. And FYI, sequels are supposed to be self-referential... but they don't overdo it. 9 or 10/10.
- DirectorPeter SegalStarsJack NicholsonAdam SandlerMarisa TomeiDave Buznik is a businessman who is wrongly sentenced to an anger management program, where he meets an aggressive instructor.A surprisingly intricate plot, with more twists than I thought there'd be. You can't be disappointed with Jack Nicholson, as he's the best when he's a sociopath, and Adam Sandler does great at the shy, socially awkward loser who's doesn't know how to do anything but bottle up his anger. I liked this much more than I thought, I (and everyone else for that matter) really should stop trusting previews for movies.
- DirectorJay RoachStarsMike MyersElizabeth HurleyMichael YorkA world-class playboy and part-time secret agent from the 1960s emerges after thirty years in a cryogenic state to battle with his nemesis Dr. Evil.Everything about this is awesome, from the opening scene until the credits. Starts in the most roaring 70s I have ever witnessed, including gargantuan dance number, and then features a talented Mike Myers playing two ridiculous, amazing characters, a delicious Elizabeth Hurley, pre-when she started to annoy me, and then builds to a suspenseful James Bond-like plot, filled with corny puns and self-referential jokes. A 90's classic.
- DirectorNicholas StollerStarsSeth RogenRose ByrneZac EfronAfter they are forced to live next to a fraternity house, a couple with a newborn baby do whatever they can to take them down.I only ever liked Zac Efron in Hairspray, and that movie was always a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine so it never really counted in his favour. AND Seth Rogen disappointed me recently with This is the End, plus a few others I watched on a whim (Observe and Report and Superbad (aptly named)). But they pulled it together and created one of my favourite comedies of 2014. Hilarious look at young parents and the quarter-life crisis with lots of physical comedy. CSS.
- DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsBilly Bob ThorntonGreg KinnearMarcia Gay HardenA grizzled little league coach tries to turn his team of misfits into champs.Billy-Bob Thornton is almost irresistible to the stoner. He's a drunken, ugly, foul-mouthed bastard, but is somehow awesome and charming. In this film he's basically Bad Santa, but now he's coaching a kid's baseball team. Not all he does is magic (Mr Woodcock sucked) but this is one of his gems.
- DirectorTerry ZwigoffStarsBilly Bob ThorntonBernie MacLauren GrahamA miserable conman and his partner pose as Santa and his Little Helper to rob department stores on Christmas Eve. But they run into problems when the conman befriends a troubled kid.Featuring one of the best characters to come out of a comedy film ever. He's a barely-loveable, abusive, alcoholic, serial safe-cracking Santa. If you don't love hating this guy, there's something wrong with you. No offense.
- DirectorDavid ZuckerStarsTrey ParkerMatt StoneDian BacharTwo childhood friends are pro athletes of a national sport called BASEketball, a hybrid of baseball and basketball, and must deal with a greedy businessman scheming against their team.In my opinion, the best of Stone/Parker's work. Better production value and entertainment value than Orgazmo and Cannibal. The chemistry between the two leads really shine; they make a great comedic duo.
- DirectorJay ChandrasekharStarsJay ChandrasekharKevin HeffernanSteve LemmeTwo brothers travel to Germany for Oktoberfest, only to stumble upon a secret, centuries-old competition described as a "Fight Club" with beer games. In movies created by Broken Lizard, this comes second only to Super Troopers. Just. A brilliant boys film, lots of boobs, and a LOT of beer-drinking. All the guys play fantastic roles, the plot is actually very compelling, and most importantly the humor is cheap, dirty and highlarious.
- DirectorRob SchneiderStarsRob SchneiderDavid CarradineSally KirklandA weak con man panics when he learns he's going to prison for fraud. He hires a mysterious martial arts guru who helps transform him into a martial arts expert who can fight off inmates who want to hurt or love him.I love this so much! It has a simple charm to it, but the martial arts kicks ass. Of course it does with the late David Carradine. He's great and actually mixes with the comedic characters of Jennifer Morrison and Rob Schneider really well. There's a bit of heart, lots of laughs and ass-kicking and a cool plot that reminds me of The Longest Yard. If you can suspend your disbelief enough to accept Schneider as a badass, you'll love it too.
- DirectorTamra DavisStarsAdam SandlerDarren McGavinBridgette Wilson-SamprasIn order to inherit his fed up father's hotel empire, an immature and lazy man must repeat grades 1-12 all over again. If you grew up in the 90's, like myself, and you didn't see this movie, I'm assuming you lived in a bomb shelter. It's ridiculous, the plot and script are highly surreal, but it tricks you into laughing. And for some reason, you root for the deranged and infantile rich kid. I know it looks silly, but that's just because it is. So relax and enjoy.
- DirectorFrank CoraciStarsAdam SandlerDrew BarrymoreWendi McLendon-CoveyAfter a bad blind date, a man and woman find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attraction grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.Love Barrymore and Sandler together; I've thought they were the cutest comedic couple ever when I saw them in Wedding Singer. Two single parents and their respective kids, through misunderstanding, end up vacationing together in Africa. A beautiful farce with lots of tender moments.
- DirectorLarry CharlesStarsSacha Baron CohenKen DavitianLuenellKazakh TV talking head Borat is dispatched to the United States to report on the greatest country in the world. This film doesn't need to be put on a list by me it's so good, but if I left it out I'd feel like a moron. If you haven't seen it, watch it in a relaxed atmosphere WITHOUT your parents. I did the first time and almost died of embarrassment. Drink, smoke, whatever, just watch the damn thing or you'll be known as that one guy who hasn't seen it. And who needs labels?
- DirectorFrank OzStarsSteve MartinEddie MurphyHeather GrahamWhen a desperate movie producer fails to get a major star for his bargain-basement film, he decides to shoot the film secretly around him.One of Steve Martin's best, every character and scene is a non-stop joke. I thought it looked tacky as hell, but it's surprisingly subtle for how over-the-top it is (I know that makes no sense now, but watch the film). Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy are a classic comedian team.
- DirectorHarold RamisStarsChevy ChaseRodney DangerfieldBill MurrayAn exclusive golf course has to deal with a flatulent new member and a destructive dancing gopher.I love those rare films from the 80s that stand up next to comedies of the 90s and beyond. This is one of them; Chevy Chase in his element (Fletch-style but funnier), Rodney Dangerfield is awesome and makes you laugh whenever he talks and Bill Murray is always excellent. The younger cast could be stronger but oddly enough they are not essential.
- DirectorKevin SmithStarsBrian O'HalloranJeff AndersonMarilyn GhigliottiA day in the lives of two convenience clerks named Dante and Randal as they annoy customers, discuss movies, and play hockey on the store roof.Stoner films always have to have an underdog lead, and these guys put the dog in underdog. Dante and Randal are the lesser-known comedic duo (the other being Jay and Silent Bob) that Kevin Smith created, but I love them equally. Definitely for people who have worked in customer service (and loathed it).
- DirectorKevin SmithStarsBrian O'HalloranJeff AndersonRosario DawsonA calamity at Dante and Randal's shops sends them looking for new horizons - but they ultimately settle at the fast food empire Mooby's.A perfect and believable follow-up to Clerks. It's modern and had a bigger budget than twenty bucks and an italian sub. Kevin Smith (director) is a writer/director for smokers, every movie he makes is unique and highlarious and this is no exception.
EDIT: except Red State. That sucked. Dammit. - DirectorJay ChandrasekharStarsJay ChandrasekharBill PaxtonKevin HeffernanWhen a serial killer interrupts the fun at the swanky Coconut Pete's Coconut Beach Resort--a hedonistic island paradise for swingers--it's up to the club's staff to stop the violence...or at least hide it.This feels like it was made in the early 90s, but that's part of the joke. Broken Lizard take on the cheesiest of cheese horror, with loveable characters (and the usual weirdos). It's graphic and bloody, but not nightmare-inducing because it's so ridiculous.
- DirectorPaul MoloneyStarsMick MolloyBill HunterFrank WilsonA local bowling club faces potential takeover due to dwindling membership and increasing overheads. A thrilling battle ensues, involving young and old, greed and good, and extraordinary circumstances.I have a weakness for Aussie films, mostly because they're usually jovial, simple and under-produced. Features the late Bill Hunter, one of our greatest actors (that didn't change his accent to American), and is just a funny little film about a typical Aussie sleazebag being gifted at bowls. CSS.
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsSteve CarellTina FeyMark WahlbergIn New York City, a case of mistaken identity turns a bored married couple's attempt at a glamorous and romantic evening into something more thrilling and dangerous.I love this film. The two leads are brilliant as a bored couple being thrust into unavoidable danger, and just watching these two buffoons try outsmart crims and bent cops is highlarious. Quite a suspenseful/action-packed film too, so make sure you're in that sort of mood.
- DirectorFrank OzStarsMatthew MacfadyenPeter DinklageEwen BremnerChaos ensues when a man tries to expose a dark secret regarding a recently deceased patriarch of a dysfunctional British family.Recreates the sense of misadventure that old school british films used to have. Clever writing and funny characters, touching but doesn't ever really bring you down even with the whole funeral element. Don't bother watching the other one, I don't know why it even exists. No SS, but someone accidentally eats something highlarious.
- DirectorMike BigelowStarsRob SchneiderEddie GriffinJeroen KrabbéDeuce is tricked again into man-whoring by T.J., only in Amsterdam while other man-whores are being murdered in his midst.Don't throw things at me you pretentious fool, just watch this and watch it high. I've never minded Rob Schneider, and this Bigalow movie takes itself even less seriously than the first, so it's a deadhead's dream. It's mostly set in Amsterdam too, so people who won't stop b*tchin bout Harold & Kumar 2 not being set in Amsterdam, just watch this! Yay, a solution so quit your b*tchin. CSS.
- DirectorRawson Marshall ThurberStarsBen StillerChristine TaylorVince VaughnA group of misfits enter a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament in order to save their cherished local gym from the onslaught of a corporate health fitness chain.Like I said somewhere else on the list, a good stonercom needs an underdog, and this has it in the title so you know it's gonna be good. Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller play polar opposites and are both comedy kings, and their supporting cast is really very impressive. Loved this as soon as I saw it, it's just so damn fun.
- 19961h 29mR6.5 (62K)53MetascoreDirectorParis BarclayStarsShawn WayansMarlon WayansKeenen Ivory WayansA parody of several U.S. films about being in the 'Hood', for instance Boyz n the Hood (1991), South Central (1992), Menace II Society (1993), Higher Learning (1995) and Juice (1992).From the creators of Scary Movie, meet the Black Empowerment Movie (a.k.a DBAM2SCWDYJITH). Like Scary Movie, it would probably help a lot to have seen many of these types of movies. I'd seen a few when I first saw this, and found it funny. Then I watched several more, and found it hysterical. Their style is usually cheap, but effective. Ideal for this list!
- DirectorSteven BrillStarsOwen WilsonJosh PeckAlex FrostThree kids hire a low-budget bodyguard to protect them from the playground bully.Owen Wilson and three kids? Don't worry, it works. I'm anti-kid and these kids are loveable enough. Wilson plays a good unsuccessful con-artist type, with a fun role for Danny Mcbride in there. Funny and sweet.
- DirectorJeff SchafferAlec BergDavid MandelStarsScott MechlowiczJacob PittsMichelle TrachtenbergDumped by his girlfriend, a high school grad decides to embark on an overseas adventure in Europe with his friends.Pretty funny holiday movie. Doesn't beat Harold & Kumar or Hangovers in the adventure-comedy genre, but about on the same level as Road Trip, so a simple, easy laugh.
- DirectorTerry GilliamStarsJohnny DeppBenicio Del ToroTobey MaguireAn oddball journalist and his psychopathic lawyer travel to Las Vegas for a series of psychedelic escapades.I put this in the list because I'd feel stupid if I didn't. It's got more drugs in it than it's got NOT drugs, if you don't find this funny as hell you'll probably find it confusing/intimidating. 10/10. CSS (i think, it has everything else).
- DirectorNicholas StollerStarsKristen BellJason SegelPaul RuddDevastated Peter takes a Hawaiian vacation in order to deal with the recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know, Sarah's traveling to the same resort as her ex - and she's bringing along her new boyfriend. You can tell most of the cast of 'Rat Pack' films do partake in a bit of the doobage, all of their films are rife with references. This actually works as a good break-up film (unlike 'The Break Up'), and Jason Segel does well as a lead. Once again the supporting cast makes the film, Paul Rudd and Russell Brand are the subtle poster boys for abusing substances. It's cool, trust me.
- DirectorNicholas StollerStarsJonah HillRussell BrandElisabeth MossA record company intern is hired to accompany out-of-control British rock star Aldous Snow to a concert at L.A.'s Greek Theater.A combination of main characters that really worked, much to my surprise. Made me love Russell Brand 10x more, and Jonah Hill just works. Has a tiny serious side to it, TINY, the rest is sex, drugs and rock n' roll. A lot of fun. CSS.
- DirectorNicholaus GoossenStarsAllen CovertLinda CardelliniShirley JonesA thirty-five-year-old video game tester has to move in with his grandma and her two old lady roommates. In the top five of ultimate stoner comedies. Has absolutely everything a bleary-eyed deadhead could want: videogames, boobs, parties and the hot chick from Freaks & Geeks! Many of the Happy Madison crew star (Sandler's BFFs) and perform spectacularly. A laugh a minute or more, and a must-watch for any smoker of the dark arts. CSS.
- DirectorDennis DuganStarsAdam SandlerKevin JamesChris RockAfter moving his family back to his hometown to be with his friends and their kids, Lenny finds out that between old bullies, new bullies, schizo bus drivers, drunk cops on skis, and four hundred costumed party crashers sometimes crazy follows you.Seemed to have even less plot than the first; did not think that was possible. It became apparent after watching this that it's for Sandler/Grown Ups fans only. Especially after the second watch I noticed a bit more corn and a bit more cheese. Probably other foods too.
- DirectorTamra DavisStarsDave ChappelleGuillermo DiazJim BreuerThe story of three not so bright men who come up with a series of crazy schemes to get a friend out of jail. Also in that top five of stoner coms. Dave Chappelle just completely understands how to write a stoner com. Many, many smoking scenes, many, many stoner jokes and a crazy plot with elements of the insane. Watch his stand-up too, it's to die for. CSS.
- DirectorDennis DuganStarsAdam SandlerChristopher McDonaldJulie BowenAfter his grandmothers house is repossessed by the IRS, bad tempered hockey player takes his talents to golf to earn the big bucks and get his grandmothers house back. What this, and most of his 90s films have (that his more recent films don't have) is Adam Sandler being a washed-up, immature loser, but being friendly and loveable anyway. I think that's what's missing from his recent stuff; he's too successful in Grown Ups and Funny People to be a true underdog (I still love those films, they're just not stoner coms). This embodies what's great about him and his films; it's clearly just for laughs.
- DirectorDanny LeinerStarsJohn ChoKal PennEthan EmbryA Korean-American office worker and his Indian-American stoner friend embark on a quest to satisfy their desire for White Castle burgers.Another for the top 5. A stoner/adventure film about the quest for the perfect food. There's not really anything NOT to love, it even has one of those ridiculous anti-pot adds put in. Harold is uptight, Kumar isn't uptight enough, they're a great team. CSS.
- DirectorJon HurwitzHayden SchlossbergStarsJohn ChoKal PennNeil Patrick HarrisAfter being mistaken for terrorists and thrown into Guantánamo Bay, stoners Harold and Kumar escape and return to the U.S., where they proceed to flee across the country with federal agents in hot pursuit.I loved this, a lot of people didn't. 'They only spent 5 minutes in Amsterdam' they said, 'there was hardly any smoking' they said, 'Harold was even whinier this time' they said. First off it's called 'Escape from Guantanamo Bay', not 'Go to Amsterdam', secondly there's about three or four times as much smoking in this one, one of the scenes being with a certain ex-pres we all know. And if you think Harold was whinier, you're just dumb so re-watch them. In my opinion it's a bigger adventure with more smoking, more finely-tuned scenes and more highlarity. Sorry to go on, but it's fantastic. CSS
- DirectorSteve PinkStarsJohn CusackRob CorddryCraig RobinsonA malfunctioning time machine at a ski resort takes a man back to 1986 with his two friends and nephew, where they must relive a fateful night and not change anything to make sure the nephew is born. This just seems like it's going to be juvenile and fantastical...it is, but in that cool way. I love who they cast for the four leads, John Cusak is always an unexpected comedic jewel, and his supporting cast shines just as bright. This movie is fun, just a bunch of regular people going back in time. No science or math and only brief mentions of the "serious repercussions of time travel" *yawn*. Chevy Chase makes a sweet cameo (he's a lot like his Community character, honestly). Ah, I do love this film. CSS.
- DirectorJesse DylanStarsMethod ManRedmanObba BabatundéTwo guys by the name of Silas and Jamal decided to one day smoke something magical, which eventually helps them to ace their college entrance exam.Another in the top five, in which there's probably more than five now. Liking hip-hop helps (meaning not actively hating it), and if you smoke you really should be diggin' those smooth hip-hop tunes by now. Method Man and Redman are surprisingly good comedic actors, and 'How High' is just such a fun summery college adventure film, with a LOT of greenery and cool music. It contains some weird mystical elements, and a noticeable lack fo reality with a bunch of funny stereotypes thrown in. Definitely CSS.
- DirectorJohn HamburgStarsPaul RuddJason SegelRashida JonesFriendless Peter Klaven goes on a series of man-dates to find a Best Man for his wedding. But, when his insta-bond with his new B.F.F. puts a strain on his relationship with his fiancée, can the trio learn to live happily ever after?Just as easily a drinking film, but c'mon it's Segel and Rudd, they look like they have permanent smoke coming out of their ears. These guys make a great pair, and it explores some funny and interesting things about men and the friendships they have. CSS.
- DirectorDennis DuganStarsAdam SandlerKevin JamesJessica BielTwo straight, single Brooklyn firefighters pretend to be a gay couple in order to receive domestic partner benefits.I avoided this film for years, because like many teenage girls I was hyper-defensive of gay people (without realising how unnecessary/condescending it is) and thought it would be just non-stop gay and penis jokes. It's not that, it's not even a yay gay film, it's a 'yeah, we're all equal' film and boy is it uplifting. One of the most touchingly funny Adam Sandler films ever.
- DirectorKevin SmithStarsJason MewesKevin SmithAmy NobleThe comic "Bluntman and Chronic" is based on real-life stoners Jay and Silent Bob, so when they get no profit from a big-screen adaptation, they set out to wreck the movie. It was awesome after seeing Jay & Silent Bob as characters in so many beloved films, to finally see them star in their own movie. Think modern-day Cheech & Chong, after they've been kicked in the head by a horse, and instead of going on tour, they're looking for people to beat up (with a monkey!). There are constant celeb cameos, including almost everyone you knew from all Kevin Smith's previous films (and a monkey!). CSS (i think).
- DirectorDennie GordonStarsDavid SpadeBrittany DanielDennis MillerAfter being abandoned by his parents at the Grand Canyon, Joe Dirt tells the story of his journey to find his parents.I know this sounds corny, but this movie is full of so much hope and good feeling. So many people have rejected this film, and I did for years. But the message is pure, and the way they deliver it is comedic, yet it has the potential to make you optimistically thoughtful and emotionally warmed. THE ulimate underdog story, I guarantee you that. Please give this a chance if you, like me, watch comedies to feel uplifted.
- DirectorJudd ApatowStarsSeth RogenKatherine HeiglPaul RuddFor fun-loving party animal Ben Stone, the last thing he ever expected was for his one-night stand to show up on his doorstep eight weeks later to tell him she's pregnant with his child.Basically most things directed by Judd Apatow should be watched by any self-respecting stoner. He just seems to get it. You'd think a movie about a couple expecting wouldn't be good/funny (*cough* Nine Months! *cough*), but it sure is! Thanks to the two wonderful leads, and their respective entourages which include Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Jason Segel, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill and Martin Starr (as well as two gems who star in smaller roles: Alan Tudyk and Kristen Wiig). Unmissable. CSS.
- DirectorClayton JacobsonStarsShane JacobsonTravis GollandChris DavisThis hilarious mockumentary film follows the numerous misadventures of a porta-john worker through both his personal and professional life, including an oddly glamorous excursion to the Pumper and Cleaner Expo in Nashville, TN.I say underdog a lot, but like I said it's a common thing in films suitable for this list. This film is all about the ultimate underdog: Kenny, an Aussie plumber. At first it's a bit odd, but then you grow to love it. It's better than your average Aussie film, and some of the lines Kenny comes up with are gold. The whole thing is very sweet and engrossing. 10/10.
- DirectorBrad SilberlingStarsWill FerrellDanny McBrideAnna FrielA space-time vortex sucks scientist Rick Marshall, his assistant Holly and a survivalist Will into a world populated by dinosaurs and painfully slow creatures called Sleestaks.I avoided this one for awhile, it looked like a kiddie film with a lame adventure element. I've really, really got to stop judging movies by the poor attempts at advertising them. Will Farrrell plays a bumbling scientist who has discovered an alternate universe with a decided lack of elegence, he's accompanied by the appealing Holly (Anna Friel), a follower of his work, and a very "classy" guy named Will (Danny Mcbride) who after trying to con them, is dragged along with them. 10x better than it looks. If you like Anchorman, this is easily as good.
- DirectorPaul WeitzStarsBen StillerTeri PoloRobert De NiroFamily-patriarch Jack Byrnes wants to appoint a successor. Does his son-in-law, the male nurse Greg Focker, have what it takes? The third and third best movie in the trilogy. Don't get me wrong, it has the charm its always had, you can just tell it's over. Jack Byrnes is still a suspicious bloke, but it's been so many years since the original film so it seems to be wearing thin. I did love it still, and it has many great moments due to the fantastic cast and funny writing, but hopefully this is it for the series.
- DirectorKevin SmithStarsShannen DohertyJeremy LondonJason LeeBoth dumped by their girlfriends, two best friends seek refuge in the local mall.Kevin Smith and his whacky mates pretty much trapped in a mall the whole day. That's right, it's hiiiiighlarious! Jason Lee in a leading role has always worked well for me, eg. Chasing Amy, and My Name is Earl. In this he is at his most smart-arsed, obnoxious, horrible and charming. Almost everyone makes a cameo, including the wonderful Jay and Silent Bob. CSS.
- DirectorJay RoachStarsBen StillerRobert De NiroTeri PoloMale nurse Greg Focker meets his girlfriend's parents before proposing, but her suspicious father is every date's worst nightmare. This film is just such a laugh. Reminds me a lot of Farrelly brothers' films, maybe because Stiller was in 'Something About Mary', but the humour is also very similar in that it can make you cringe, especially since he's paired with the very serious-looking Robert De Niro. It's crazy, but also has some realism to it when it pokes at the in-law relationship.
- DirectorJay RoachStarsBen StillerRobert De NiroBlythe DannerAll hell breaks loose when the Byrnes family meets the Focker family for the first time.A great sequel, especially if you've always wanted to know what kind of person names their kid 'Gaylord' (trust me, these are them hehe). Of course Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand do fantastically alongside De Niro and Stiller, and it still manages to be just as funny as the first, perhaps more so.
- DirectorSteven BrillStarsAdam SandlerWinona RyderJohn TurturroA sweet-natured, small-town guy inherits a controlling stake in a media conglomerate and begins to do business his way.A TINY bit on the corny side, but many, many funny Sandleresque moments. Emilio the butler is fantastic, and Winona Ryder's character is a biznitch most of the time so it's believable (so you know I don't like her, and if you don't either, don't worry as she's ignorable in this). And you'll just love Longfellow, a generous, sweet and slightly simple guy with a TINY violent streak. Lovely film.
- DirectorJared HessStarsJon HederEfren RamirezJon GriesA listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small western high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.Napoleon Dynamite was a revolutionary movie, it cost less than my yearly energy drink budget to make and yet made famous a new, subtler, quieter, yet somehow off-the-wall brand of comedy. It now has millions of fans and you're probably one of them. But if you're not, watch it. And if you have already, watch it again with smokeables.
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsBen StillerCarla GuginoRicky GervaisA newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc.Started my renewed love affair with Ben Stiller some years after Something About Mary. It looks more obnoxiusly childish than any of my other recs, but again the heart and maturity is there, just with humour and hilarious living exhibits.
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsBen StillerOwen WilsonAmy AdamsSecurity guard Larry Daley infiltrates the Smithsonian Institution in order to rescue Jedediah and Octavius, who have been shipped to the museum by mistake.Another sequel that beat its prequel. The always funny Hank Azaria plays a brilliant and lolable bad guy, and all the 'exhibits' are newer and more exciting, as is the plot. I'm sure fans will love all the new characters. Even the CGI characters are cooler. I have to say though, if you have the opportunity/means/desire, I would eat a little square of paper before watching it for the first time, it was one of the best experiences of my life. Look out for Jonah Hill, he almost stole the show in his highlarious 5 minute scene.
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsBen StillerRobin WilliamsOwen WilsonLarry spans the globe, uniting favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it's gone forever.Great finale to the series, all of your charming favorites return with a few great new characters. More similar to the first film rather than the second, thus the second is still my favourite. RIP Robin Williams, who, along with Rik Mayall (RIP also xxx) were my second and third fathers growing up. I'll never forget you.
- DirectorMike JudgeStarsRon LivingstonJennifer AnistonDavid HermanThree company workers who hate their jobs decide to rebel against their greedy boss.I work in an office. In fact, I'm supposed to be working right now. Office Space is a light comedy about living a satisfying life, and the parody of the office lifestyle is as accurate as 'The Office', not as funny as that show but close.
- DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsLuke WilsonVince VaughnWill FerrellThree friends attempt to recapture their glory days by opening up a fraternity near their alma mater.Gives the whole 'mid-life crisis' plot a little boost of adrenaline, as three over-the-hill guys start a frat in a (what do yanks call it? College?) school they blatantly do not attend. If you're a comedy fan you'll love the cast, and the admittedly shallow plot. May CSS, I don't remember.
- DirectorMekhi PhiferStarsRonnie WarnerDanny MastersonMekhi PhiferTired of being on the wagon, two stoners get voluntarily mixed up in the plot to rip off a shady figure known as Mr. Big.If you smoke, you probably watched That 70's Show. Hyde's in this (Danny Masterson) with another dude, and they're basically a pair of useless stoners who run out of money and get kicked out of their house, and decide to chill in rehab til things look up a bit more. They're a funny pair, some parts can be stupid but there's some intelligent humour here. Probably my least favourite stonercom on this list, but still a goodie. They're just all so great lol. CSS.
- DirectorDavid WainStarsPaul RuddSeann William ScottElizabeth BanksWild behavior forces a pair of energy drink reps to enroll in a Big Brother program.WARNING: This contains some life lessons and warmth! A little drug use, but the amazing thing about this film is how fun it makes real-life RPGs look! Paul Rudd and whatshisface... Stifler make a good comedy team, and I actually quite like the kids in this; they don't grate on my brain like most kids in films do. Jane Lynch is just... hysterical. She is WASTED on Glee. Bloody Glee >:(.
- DirectorJohn G. AvildsenStarsSylvester StalloneTalia ShireBurt YoungA small-time Philadelphia boxer gets a supremely rare chance to fight the world heavyweight champion in a bout in which he strives to go the distance for his self-respect.That's right, I love Rocky now! Like I've said about a billion time; underdogs are king. Pretty sure Rocky is the original underdog. Unless you get a headache from watching someone get pummelled repeatedly in the head, this one is for you! I-V are all great in my opinion, I-III are the best though. The montages and music will simultaneously make you laugh and remember the multitude of shows that have referenced this in the past. Stallone fought tooth and nail to have this movie come out perfect and I respect him so much since seeing this.
- DirectorDavid SchwimmerStarsSimon PeggThandiwe NewtonHank AzariaFive years after jilting his pregnant fiancée on their wedding day, out-of-shape Dennis decides to run a marathon to win her back.Simon Pegg = great cinema. He always includes enough stupidity and enough heart, and this movie speaks clearly to many of the downtrodden and underconfident (is that a word? it's one now) with a nice message, and a sweet, realistic love story. Hank Azaria plays another great bad guy. I swear, that guy can do anything.
- DirectorKeenen Ivory WayansStarsAnna FarisJon AbrahamsMarlon WayansA year after disposing of the body of a man they accidentally killed, a group of dumb teenagers are stalked by a bumbling serial killer. The main reason SM1 is on here is the same as American Pie 2; a bit of sentimentality on my part. This movie began a stream of parody movies that took over the early 2000s, and while the 90's-style humour is a little dated, i'll always fondly remember the way that all those terrible teen horror movies were ripped to pieces by this ridiculously over-the-top parody. That's why this is on the stoner list, not the 'List of Divine Comediae to Make You Chuckle Slightly'.
- DirectorKeenen Ivory WayansStarsAnna FarisMarlon WayansAntony AckerFour teens are tricked by a professor into visiting a haunted house for a school project. They actually did get better as they went along. It's not that they got any classier, it's that they got LESS classy. There were fewer attempts at ANY real emotion or character development. It's in this sort of film where you can forget anything you knew about real life and just enjoy the stupidity.
- DirectorDavid ZuckerStarsAnna FarisCharlie SheenRegina HallCindy must investigate mysterious crop circles and video tapes, and help the President in preventing an alien invasion.Like I said, less classy. Still funny! Leslie Nielsen does a great mock-George Bush. In fact, this is where the movies started making fun of more broad targets, not just scary movies, but famous people and events. Just a nice bit of a sketch show/dead ringers feel to some of it.
- DirectorDavid ZuckerStarsAnna FarisRegina HallCraig BierkoCindy finds out the house she lives in is haunted by a little boy and goes on a quest to find out who killed him and why. Also, Alien "Tr-iPods" are invading the world and she has to uncover the secret in order to stop them.Somehow this one became even more off-the-wall. The Tom Cruise scene (at the end?) is just.. so good.
- DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsJack BlackMike WhiteJoan CusackAfter being kicked out of his rock band, Dewey Finn becomes a substitute teacher of an uptight elementary private school, only to try and turn his class into a rock band. It's surprising how good this is considering it looks like it could be the worst thing ever. I hate it in films when there's lots of little kid actors, but these kids aren't so bad. The way Jack Black interacts with them, at least at first, is Billy-Bob Thornton-esque (like in Bad Santa, or Bad News Bears), where he's frank and rude in the way that all adults secretly wish they could be with kids. Overall it's a very well-written musicom with a killer soundtrack. In Jack Black's Top 5 films of Awesome.
- DirectorKent AltermanStarsWill FerrellWoody HarrelsonAndré 3000Jackie Moon, the owner-coach-player of the American Basketball Association's Flint Michigan Tropics, rallies his teammates to make their NBA dreams come true.I cheered when I found this. Woody Harrelson and Will Ferrell are two of my most favourite actors, among a few others. It's a Bad News Bears-style comedy about basketball (the only sport I was ever good at), with some of the funniest commentators I've ever seen on a sports comedy. Throw in all the 70s garishness and of course it's awesome. Great plot, and rife with triumph over tribulations.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsSimon PeggNick FrostKate AshfieldThe uneventful, aimless lives of a London electronics salesman and his layabout roommate are disrupted by the zombie apocalypse.Simon Pegg's best, and most would agree with me. It's almost a parody of a zombie film, but I like to think of it as a realistically hilarious zombie film. Shaun is a bit of a loser who hates his life, and with his best, even more losery mate, his surprisingly hot girlfriend and a pair of his girlfriend's annoying friends, they attempt to survive a zombie holocaust. Britcom fans will love the cast, and so will you all because they're charming.
- DirectorAdam McKayStarsWill FerrellJohn C. ReillyMary SteenburgenTwo aimless middle-aged losers still living at home are forced against their will to become roommates when their parents marry. This, frankly, looked disturbing when I saw it on the DVD shelf. But it's fantastic! I found it by chance which astonishes me, because it's as good as anything Adam Mckay has done and has a wonderful and quite known cast. I've never seen a decent attempt at this plot either (two 40-somethings still living at home), and this owns that plot. Funny from the start, and actually has a lovely message about being who you are.
- DirectorMichael BliedenStarsBrian UngerGary CohanRobert GoreStand up comedian and marijuana user Doug Benson documents thirty days of pot free living and thirty days of non-stop use to compare the effects of both.Doug Benson is one of the most well-known pot comics in the world, and if you watch this it's obvious why. A funny look at a man who smokes regularly NOT smoking for 30 days, then smoking EVERY day for 30 days. The results are interesting and quite unexpectedly funny. There's also some facts and stories on medical mj. CSS
- DirectorJay ChandrasekharStarsJay ChandrasekharKevin HeffernanAndré VippolisFive Vermont state troopers, avid pranksters with a knack for screwing up, try to save their jobs and out-do the local police department by solving a crime.Broken Lizard's ULTIMATE. I remember watching it for the first time, and for how truly baked I was there was no better movie for me at that time. The misleading, funny and crazy intro is just highlarious, Farva is... you'll see. They're all cops, yet they're all so appealing in their own ways. Enjoy if you haven't already. CSS.

If you see the characters as parodies then this should give you endless enjoyment. Will Ferrell adds his usual magic to it, he and Johnny CR are a great pair.
- DirectorSeth MacFarlaneStarsMark WahlbergMila KunisSeth MacFarlaneJohn Bennett, a man whose childhood wish of bringing his teddy bear to life came true, now must decide between keeping the relationship with the bear, Ted or his girlfriend, Lori. This is like a Disney movie once the characters have grown up and all the magic is gone. Seth Macfarlane's best, and only truly exceptional, film he's brought out since Family Guy franchise. Mila Kunis is beloved by me and she doesn't disappoint. I'm not normally a Wahlberg fan but he does fine in this, actually impressing em a few times. Ted is adorable and crude; you'll want one for yourself! CSS.
- DirectorLiam LynchStarsJack BlackKyle GassJR ReedTo become the greatest band of all time, two slacker, wannabe-rockers set out on a quest to steal a legendary guitar pick that gives its holders incredible guitar skills, from a maximum security Rock and Roll museum. My only real criticism is everything just needed to refined/tightened up a bit. There's lots of funny, great moments, especially if you're a Tenacious D fan, but there's also a few 'Huh? Oh, we're doing that now, are we?' moments. CSS.
- DirectorJudd ApatowStarsSteve CarellCatherine KeenerPaul RuddGoaded by his buddies, a nerdy guy who's never "done the deed" only finds the pressure mounting when he meets a single mother. This movie is exactly what it sounds like, in the best way possible. It's not over-the-top like you might think. The reason he is a virgin, and his character growth is believable and not weird or off-putting. The supporting cast bring all sorts of funny diversions and meaningful moments, and Steve Carrell is HIGHLARIOUS and does a great leading job. CSS.
- DirectorRob SitchStarsMichael CatonAnne TenneyStephen CurryA working-class family from Melbourne, Australia fights city hall after being told they must vacate their beloved family home to allow for infrastructural expansion. In my humble opinion, the greatest thing Australia has ever produced. Nothing has conveyed the character of the Australian people quite so accurately, hilariously at the same time AND making it pretty much universally applicable (except for a few dumb yanks). This story is truly moving and the journey is wonderful with plenty of heart-warming laughs. 10/10.
- DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsZach GalifianakisBradley CooperJustin BarthaThree buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas, with no memory of the previous night and the bachelor missing. They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding. This took a couple of watches before this appealed, I think it's more of a dude film (don't get me wrong, chicks like myself can like movies I call 'dude films', we're just less naturally inclined. Just like dudes are less naturally inclined to like 'chick films') than something for absolutely everyone, but it's a pretty funny adventure nonetheless, some scenes hit, some miss but that's just what happens sometimes. What matters is if you enjoyed the journey, and where you ended up. Which I did.
- DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsBradley CooperZach GalifianakisEd HelmsTwo years after the bachelor party in Las Vegas, Phil, Stu, Alan, and Doug jet to Thailand for Stu's wedding. Stu's plan for a subdued pre-wedding brunch, however, goes seriously awry.I will always say, the budget of a comedy often doesn't really matter, unless it's an adventure comedy. Hangover 2 really benefited from a bigger budget. The location was a lot more fun and exciting for us viewers, the plot had a lot more happy confusion and disturbed lols. Again, sequel here lost a little bit of class but gained a lot more humour from it. The cameo of Mike Tyson at the end was something that clearly had to happen...or he would probably break the producer's face. So yeah, that part a little forced, the rest is great!
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsVince VaughnOwen WilsonRose ByrneTwo salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital age find their way into a coveted internship at Google, where they must compete with a group of young, tech-savvy geniuses for a shot at employment.Definitely Wedding Crashers-esque, though still with a unique plot - a pair of tech-impaired salesmen compete with sarcastic, anti-social teens for a permanent place at google. I love their point of view on technology and most of the jokes focused on that are exceptional. A few 'meh' moments, like the majority of comedies these days, certainly worth watching.
- DirectorPeter AndrikidisStarsNick GiannopoulosVince ColosimoZeta MakrypouliaSteve 'The Wog Boy' Karamitsis inherits a beach on the resort island of Mykonos from an uncle he's never met.If you loved Wog Boy, you must see this. The opening scene alone is worth it. Of course it's many years later, so it has lost a little charm compared to the original, but it's funny and fun, the Mykonos are beautiful and the two leading women are very yowza. The plot is actually quite inventive, but again not the same charm as the original.
- DirectorWes AndersonStarsBill MurrayOwen WilsonAnjelica HustonWith a plan to exact revenge on a legendary shark that killed his partner, oceanographer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) rallies a crew that includes his estranged wife, a journalist, and a man who may or may not be his son.Almost didn't make the list. Not because it's not fantastic, it's actually awesomely fantastic. It's the fact that as much as it has a million funny moments, that are completely bizarre and perfect, it has a few sad ones. Meaning a couple that may make you cry, if you're so inclined. But it's one of the most perfect comedies of all time, so it goes on this list.
- DirectorPeter CattaneoStarsRainn WilsonJosh GadChristina ApplegateIn the 1980s, a drummer is abandoned by his band just before they become rock superstars. Twenty years later, the drummer sees his second chance at stardom arise when he is asked to perform with his teenage nephew's high school rock band.I know, I was surprised too. Rainn Wilson does a great job playing a washed-up musician trying to re-live his glory days through a bunch of teenagers. A great adventure/musicom with surprisingly elegant character and plot development. There was an alternate ending that should have been the actual ending, but it doesn't really matter that much. Far, far better than you think.
- DirectorBobby FarrellyPeter FarrellyStarsJack BlackGwyneth PaltrowJason AlexanderA shallow man falls in love with a 300-pound woman because of her inner beauty.Tender, beautiful, disgusting and hilarious like all Farrelly movies are. Wonderful message; 'beauty is only skin deep' with some great acting by Black and Paltrow. You'll cry laughing and just cry sometimes. Wish my brother was a Farrelly brother :(.
- DirectorEvan GoldbergSeth RogenStarsJames FrancoSeth RogenRandall ParkDave Skylark and his producer Aaron Rapaport run the celebrity tabloid show "Skylark Tonight". When they land an interview with a surprise fan, North Korean dictator Jong-Un Kim, they are recruited by the CIA to assassinate him.An adventure stonercom with Rogen and Franco that didn't balls it up like Pineapple Express or This is the End. The cameos are to die for, the Eminem one killed me, however the plot is original, highlarious and wonderfully physical. A bit of political hoo-ha, but Franco's douchey persona kills that nicely. Great fun, great conclusion, and caused terrorist threats to boot over its delightfully non-PC content about Kim Jor-El (or is it Kal-El? I can never remember). Most incredibly of all, made me not-quite-so-mind a Katie Perry song! (That might be a bit strong; I have a positive association with it now...woo!)
- DirectorDavid SilvermanStarsDan CastellanetaJulie KavnerNancy CartwrightAfter Homer pollutes the town's water supply, Springfield is encased in a gigantic dome by the EPA and the Simpsons are declared fugitives.Anyone who doesn't know about Simpons isn't really worth talking to. I know it sounds like I'm being a comedy snob, but it's the Simpsons; to miss them you'd have to be living under an effing rock.
- DirectorKevin HeffernanStarsMichael Clarke DuncanJay ChandrasekharKevin HeffernanThe owner of a Miami restaurant indebted to the mob institutes a contest to see what waiter can earn the most money in one night.Another mental Broken Lizard movie. I love how these guys can just play anything, and how they switch roles and personas with every movie they make and still do it convincingly. This movie kills if you've ever been in customer service, especially in America where the tipping culture is so huge. Even if it's not, it's still about a bunch of eccentric waiters working on getting the biggest tip and all the pandemonium that goes along with that.
- DirectorFrank CoraciStarsAdam SandlerKathy BatesHenry WinklerA waterboy for a college football team discovers he has a unique tackling ability and becomes a member of the team. This is a little grimier than Sandler's other films (you'll know what I mean when you see it), but it's still pure, old-school Sandler, where he's a sad, cuddle-worthy underdog lead. I love that Sandler has brought Henry Winkler back into the limelight as a very talented comedic actor. In fact, the whole supporting cast does fantastic.
- DirectorFrank CoraciStarsAdam SandlerDrew BarrymoreChristine TaylorRobbie, a singer, and Julia, a waitress, are both engaged, but to the wrong people. Fortune intervenes to help them discover each other. You'd think i'd be sick of the 80's since 96fm (a Perth radio station) plays 80's music ALL THE DAMN TIME, but this movie makes the 80's fun again. Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler are a very cute pairing, in this especially. Even though it's set in the 80's it's still a relevent break-up/romance comedy.
- DirectorAleksi VellisStarsNick GiannopoulosLucy BellVince ColosimoWhen a 'dole bludging' Greek gains national fame following a television appearance, he's recruited by a political party as the face of their campaign to improve the country's unemployment rate. The classic original that parodied some great Australian cliches; the dole, our multiculturalism and our slack-ass goverment departments. The story is similar to Meet Joe Dirt, in the sense that it's an underdog, trying to get by, then a few minutes in the spotlight brings them fame and adoration for just being who they are. Similar message to MJD but not as refined. A fun Aussie comedy.
- DirectorBobby FarrellyPeter FarrellyStarsCameron DiazMatt DillonBen StillerA man gets a chance to meet up with his dream girl from high school, even though his date with her back then was a complete disaster.I think i've mentioned this movie three times so far and I've only just gotten to it. I saw this, as well as the Wedding Singer, when I was a wee girl of 9, and it was the first wave of real (non-Disney/Pixar) comedies that I appreciated, and I didn't even start really appreciating comedies until I was 17/18. This movie rules though, because it's so funny and original it has yet to become dated, and even though you know that some parts are serious, you can't help but feel that there's not one truly serious scene in the whole film. But it's not stupid; it's Farrelly brothers! They almost always pull it off.
- DirectorRob ReinerStarsRob ReinerMichael McKeanChristopher GuestSpinal Tap, one of England's loudest bands, is chronicled by film director Marty DiBergi on what proves to be a fateful tour. This is a lot funnier than most everything else made in 84, but then I was a couple of years off being born at that stage. But it was so ahead of it's time. Comedies using a mockumentary format only really became popular in 2000s, and most people only started making fun of 80's cheese metal/rock (white snake, motley crue etc) AFTER the 80's. I was just so surprised to see this made in 84, I would at least say 98. Great stoner film/mockumentary/musicom.
- DirectorMike ClattenburgStarsJohn Paul TremblayRobb WellsMike SmithAfter his latest money-making plan fails, Julian concocts his greatest scheme ever -- which involves doing business with his archenemy, Cyrus. If you were in any way put off by the post season 7 follow-ups to TPB this will be the balm to soothe those pains. After 'say goodnight to the bad guys' and 'countdown to liquor day' I was honestly a little thrown. I like them now, but I felt the message of the show (no matter how we may seem personally, how different we may be, we all basically want and cherish the same things; love, family, peace) was lost. The criminals lost and the corrupt "good guy" won, and then some. This redeems that in a big way, as does season 8 so far (I'm trying like hell to pace myself!). 10/10. CSS.
- DirectorMike ClattenburgStarsRobb WellsJohn Paul TremblayMike SmithRicky, Julian, and Bubbles come up with a scheme to steal large amounts of untraceable coins.A good introduction to the series. Some of their later movies weren't as good, I'm not sure why perhaps a writer quit. This is awesome though, everyone's there (except the correct Trinity) and the budget seems a bit bigger. God i love this show.
- DirectorBen StillerStarsBen StillerJack BlackRobert Downey Jr.Through a series of freak occurrences, a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.Cool plot for a film and with a great comedic cast like this you can't really go wrong. Robert Downey Jr is unspeakably highlarious (I hope nobody's sick of my highlarious pun yet), and Ben Stiller once again does well as the lead.
- DirectorLou AdlerTommy ChongStarsCheech MarinTommy ChongStrother MartinTwo stoners unknowingly smuggle a van - made entirely of marijuana - from Mexico to L.A., with incompetent Sgt. The second film isn't godawful, but the first one is why they got their name. Most stoner films take their formula from this films, what with the excess smoking and whacky adventures involving evil authority figures.
- DirectorWalt BeckerStarsRyan ReynoldsTara ReidTim MathesonThe most popular kid on campus meets a beautiful journalist who makes him realize that maybe he's afraid to graduate.Almost too teen movie-ish, but Ryan Reynolds makes it all happen. His voice and mannerisms, his style, works really well with the premise of this fun, college party film.
