My favorite 25 TV shows

Perfect writing, perfect casting...just a jewel of a show! I wish I worked with them at WGN!

I loved it as a kid, but appreciate it so much more as an adult. Newhart's timing is pure gold and the supporting cast is superb with Jerry, Howard, Mr. Carlson, Mrs. Bakerman, The Peeper, etc.

One of the best physical comics of his (or any) generation, Van Dyke is marvelous. Add a scrumptious young MTM and delightful coworkers and you have a true classic!

An underrated gem, WKRP will always lag in appreciation due to copywrite issues with the original music. Even with the soundtrack tinkered with, it's pure gold. Who can forget Les, Herb, Jennifer, Venus Flytrap, Dr. Johnny Fever or The Big Guy? The turkey drop episode may be one of the funniest TV episodes ever.

I'm glad Green Acres is getting more acclaim these days. You have to love Hank Kimbal, Mr. Haney and the rest of the Hooterville universe!

I had never seen an entire episode during its original run, but fell in love with it on TV Land. Great cast, great chemistry, great writing!

Maybe I have Gilligan too high, but it was so iconic and is such an American classic!

I loved it as a kid and I still think this show rocks! Weeeeell doggies!

Who would have thought this idea would fly? But with this cast & the eclectic, memorable characters, it works! Even the occassionally appearing cgaracters like Leon Aslin's Gen. Bulkhalter & Howard Cain's Maj. Hochsatetter are memorable & fun to immitate.

I used to get off the school bus, race up the driveway, turn the TV ob & call a buddy so we could sing the F-Troop theme together as it came on. This is such a fun show with some great character actors like Larry Storch, Forrest Tucker & Ken Berry at their peaks.

Although I like The Addams Family a bit better as an adult, I've always loved Herman, Lily, Grandpa and the others.

A true American classic! Who can forget Barney Fife, Floyd the Barber, Otis or Ernest T. Bass?

What a great pairing...probably weven better than the movie duo! I can still hear Felix honking!

I started watching MASH its first season, as an 8-year-old and have loved it since. Left-wing propoganda? Sure...but still very entertaining & thought-provoking. It may have even gotten better with age and cast changes, unlike most long-running shows.

Since VCRs & DVDs have come out, I've rarely had the patience to keep track of TV schedules & wait for one particular show to come on. O'Reilly has been about the only show that I've been willing to tailor my daIy schedule around.

This is an awesome show with great chemistry and writing. It only got funnier later, as Alex had a little brother to tell Nixon & Regan bedtime stories to!

OK, I admit that part of the reason I enjoyed watching Lisa Whelchel & Nancy McKeon do battle was because they were both hotties. BUT the chemistry & writing were also top-notch & the rest of the cast was stellar.

Like 'Raymond,' I had never seen this show when it was originally on the air. I've come to love it on Nick at Nite & TV Land.

What a classic! Ahead of its time, this is a unique & very funny show.

This has always been a fun show to watch...despite modern day concerns about the occult. (Things were more innocent back in 1964.)

A real classic! The Simpsons are just like real people to most of us by now.

I haven't watched much in the 10:30 time slot since Johnny retired. His monologues were awesome. He was maybe his funniest in reacting when his material WASN'T getting a laugh! And who can forget Ed McMahan's patented intro?

I spent many hours watching this classic. Since growing up, I can appreciate its movie parodies even more, now that I've seen most of the films it spoofed.

Another classic, this one changed the face of TV sit-coms.
