This one sharply divided critics but I found Matteo Garrone's Reality a dissection of our culture of constant wish fulfillment, a wise satire, one that sometimes makes us uncomfortable. Even though we can internally mock a happily married family man who wants to become rich and famous by being on a Big Brother reality show, it opens with the most cherished and defended fantasy of all with a sumptuous, overblown wedding (which could have also been a child's birthday party, sweet sixteen party, anniversary, et al.). Nods to early Fellini abound though, I'll be the first to admit that a long section, where the protagonist gives away most of his housewares, goes on far too long.
