Once you discover that Wes Anderson is almost completely sincere, much of the resistance to the what feels like calculated naivete and wincing winsomeness of Moonrise Kingdom dissipates. An ode to the odd adolescent years, when you first fall in love with that first girl, or first boy, plays out against a background of odd adults who have neither the courage nor the fortitude of the two children in this film. A curio, but a keeper.
