Ok, (if anyone actually reads this list) some might be upset with this being on here and Devil's Backbone not... well, it might be on this list, i don't know yet... Anyhow! The haunted orphanage crossed with Del Toro being able to have the budget to create such a visually gorgeous film... that's the reason.

The remake is not on here for one main reason.... They could not use a stereotypical "retarded person" in the new one, but could push the stereotype of "redneck"... in my opinion, either use stereotypes or don't. You can't trade one for another. I digress...
This movie is pretty vicious for then and for now... I don't think the new one even compares in the realism. But that's just me.
