by lukeness44 | created - 01 Oct 2012 | updated - 01 Oct 2012 | PublicIn this list, I am only including movies that are very/relatively popular. Therefore most people will be pissed off by some of the movies in here. But I'll just say now, that I understand that these movies are popular and widely loved by many. I'm just putting my own opinion forward because I've always felt strongly against these selected movies. And I can't help voicing my opinion.

1. Avatar (2009)
PG-13 | 162 min | Action, Adventure, Fantasy
A paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.
Director: James Cameron | Stars: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez
Votes: 1,387,307 | Gross: $760.51M
Let me just say this: A film that has nothing to show for itself, apart from an "amazing" display of visual effects (courtesy of the standard James Cameron budget) is not necessarily a good movie. Cameron understood this, because Titanic was an excellent film which also had impressive effects. Same goes for Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Starwars, Jurassic Park, etc.
Unlike most freaks who absolutely adored this movie, I was glad when the humans blew up that sacred tree, because it meant that the bloody movie was almost over.
2. Paranormal Activity 3 (2011)
R | 83 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller
In 1988, young sisters Katie and Kristi befriend an invisible entity called Toby, who resides in their home.
Directors: Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman | Stars: Chloe Csengery, Jessica Tyler Brown, Christopher Nicholas Smith, Lauren Bittner
Votes: 99,788 | Gross: $104.01M
So the first movie was excellent. The second was really just a cash-in on the first, but nevertheless it did succeed in being scary. But when the third movie comes along, with the only new addition being a camera that rotates, and a barely-realized setting in the 1980's, what is there possibly to enjoy about seeing the same stuff once again?
3. The Matrix (1999)
R | 136 min | Action, Sci-Fi
When a beautiful stranger leads computer hacker Neo to a forbidding underworld, he discovers the shocking truth--the life he knows is the elaborate deception of an evil cyber-intelligence.
Directors: Lana Wachowski, Lilly Wachowski | Stars: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving
Votes: 2,055,145 | Gross: $171.48M
I'm yet to find another human being that dislikes this movie for the same reason I do. I will admit that for the most part, this film was excellent - but when the alleged "hero" goes out and kills what could be thousands of innocent people (security guards, office workers, etc) I decided its message was much too sadistic for me. With the rise of world-violence that came about after this film, I'm quite surprised that people haven't drawn any similarities between this and stuff like the Columbine massacre (which incidentally occurred not even a month after the film's release in America).
4. Shrek the Third (2007)
PG | 93 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy
Reluctantly designated as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away, Shrek hatches a plan to install the rebellious Artie as the new king while Princess Fiona tries to fend off a coup d'état by the jilted Prince Charming.
Directors: Chris Miller, Raman Hui | Stars: Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas
Votes: 332,749 | Gross: $320.71M
The first two were great, although I'd like never to watch the first one ever again, since I probably saw it a million times. Anyway, the first issue with this movie (in my opinion) is that NOT ONE SINGLE MOMENT was even slightly funny. And to top it all off, I found myself rooting for the villain, Prince Charming, whose life had gone to hell after the death of his over-caring mother, and who simply wanted to restore the status in which he'd worked for his entire life. Shrek became a real a$$h0le in this one.
5. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
PG-13 | 122 min | Action, Adventure
Indiana Jones becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls.
Director: Steven Spielberg | Stars: Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Shia LaBeouf, Karen Allen
Votes: 491,638 | Gross: $317.10M
Ever since childhood, I've adored the Indiana Jones films; I can't understand how any boy can not like them. Because of this, I was so overly excited and "for" the belated fourth addition to the legendary franchise. But I admit I was an idiot for thinking it could possibly work. Jones was evidently an icon of his time, and we can all look back on those older films with nothing but fondness. But this latest attempt to bring him back in the 21st century was nothing short of blasphemous. It felt more like 'The Mummy' or 'Tomb Raider'. An utterly disastrous product from Spielberg. I guess everyone was wrong in thinking it could be recaptured again. Let's just hope George Lucas doesn't decide he wants to remake the StarWars movies now.
