My 10 best trilogies and ex-trilogies ever made!
In this, I want to share my thoughts about what I personally consider to be the 10 best trilogies ever made. Some of this movies will generate awe while others could generate controversy, being my humble personal opinion. But I'd like to share to you anyway, because despite the fact of what you think being bad or good or even average movies, I still preserve these like the biggest and best tales that was ever told in movie series that I've ever seen. I'm not, of course considering single movies here, so that list won't have films like 2001, Metropolis, Heat and so on. So here it goes.

- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsMichael J. FoxChristopher LloydLea ThompsonMarty McFly, a 17-year-old high school student, is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his close friend, the maverick scientist Doc Brown.NUMBER 1: BACK TO THE FUTURE
-------------------------------------------------------
What can I say? It's the worldwide, nerdlywide and everyone's choice, untouchable and immaculate Back to the Future trilogy. This one is so much beloved that they even made anti-BTTF4 T-shirts to express how immaculate this is!
This is it, it's all that comes to my mind when I remember my beloved childhood, the interests that I had and still do, my love for rock'n'roll, my hunger for knowledge, my crazyness, my enchantment with time travel, my desire to be as good as I can with something, my personality, everything can be summed up into these three wonderful pieces from the 80's.
Just the fact that I insisted to be "Earth Angel" and "Johnny B. Good" the songs that would play for me to dance with my beloved wife in my marriage and the fact that I even managed to make a small Marty McFly impersonation when I called my parents and friends to dance "Johnny B. Good" with me explains itself. I'm so obsessed with these three films that I even have Jules Verne books that I read because Doc Emmet Brown told me it was that good. I love westerns and Clint Eastwood because of Marty McFly! I love rock music because of Marty, I love science-fiction because of Doc and George McFly, I sympathize with George because I was a nerd boy at school, It's all still printed and fresh in my DNA, in my "who I am", in my personality and tastes, my reason for being, everything, still going strong, still fresh, after so many years!
God bless these movies!

-------------------------------------------------------
This is the other trilogy that I love, and think of it when I recall my childhood memories. And no matter what Lucas did some years later, these three movies will always remain in my mind like that little magical piece of cinema that enchanted and still enchant generations and generations.
It's Star Wars, what more can I say? It's classic!

- DirectorJohn LasseterStarsTom HanksTim AllenDon RicklesA cowboy doll is profoundly threatened and jealous when a new spaceman action figure supplants him as top toy in a boy's bedroom.NUMBER 3: TOY STORY
-------------------------------------------------------
This is one of the most recent titles that came to become a trilogy. Yes, they're still moving the machine so they can milk everything they can, but they are not changing or screwing what we came to know and love along the years.
This is a much bigger story than just toys that can move and talk. It's a tale about growing up, the consequences, the moving on with your life, the fact that everyone, sooner or later will have to become something else, to grow maturity, to left something from it's old being and to confront it and accept it.
And I really identify with it, because I had trouble to become a grown man, like many people, I had trouble to leave my childhood, my habits, and so on. I couldn't leave my toys, but my mother and father gave me enough support so I could move on with my life.
Like Andy in this trilogy, I had trouble growing up, and I identify with those characters and with this story so much that I cried like a baby in the end of the third movie.
It's a funny story, with memorable characters and strong animation, and well deserved of the 3rd place in my list.

-------------------------------------------------------
The Godfather is considered the greatest trilogy about the Italian mob ever conceived.
I consider these movies like some of the greatest movies about family ever conceived.
In a weird sort of way, it shows what happens when things really go wrong, and allows the violent and dark nature of these movies to tell us what not to do with your family.
It really depicts mobs in a glorious and at the same time bad kind of way, bad in the sense of how ruthless and cruel they are.
Anyway, it's the perfect trilogy about the mob, that's for sure, a great piece of cinematography and have such memorable characters.

When he returns to Gotham as Batman, he must stop a secret society that intends to destroy the city.NUMBER 5: CHRISTOPHER NOLAN'S THE DARK KNIGHT
-------------------------------------------------------
What can I say? I'm a Batman fan, and also a Christopher Nolan fan.
Comic books permeated my childhood, and Batman was there giving me thrills when I used to read it. I still do. And Nolan for me is the only director that got Batman right, simply put.
One of the greatest inspirations that Batman always gave me was to do the best you can, no matter what the difficulties are. It's not because something really bad happened to you that you have to lay down and mourn for the rest of your days.
Batman is much more than just a superhero for me, and this Batman trilogy of films for me is the best one. All three movies work as a whole, closing a perfect circle in an operatic and fantastic mood and it's end is gorgeous. It's one of the greatest trilogies of all time and surely it's one of the best trilogies of the XXI century!

-------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I know that this is turning to a movie series, yes I know it will have another movie, the Legacy, yes, I know that it doesn't quite follow the original story in the books (that the 80's series with Richard Chamberlain does quite well), I know all that.
But here I'm referring to the Bourne trilogy of movies starring Matt Damon.
They are incredible, and I mean incredible! It's not only action packed, but it develops characters brilliantly, specially Damon's character, David Webb, that assumes the identity of Jason Bourne in the movie and is hunted by the intelligence agency.
It's a very well made piece of cinematography as well, specially when Paul Greengrass takes in the series, turning it all into a milestone. It even inspired the new James Bond movies, for us to have an idea!
So yes! It deserves to be listed here. It's a great series of films that has a sense of closure. I know that they'll continue the series now with another actor, but these first movies with Matt Damon will be always unforgettable action movies that I will always enjoy.

- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsHarrison FordKaren AllenPaul FreemanIn 1936, archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones is hired by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis can obtain its awesome powers.NUMBER 7: INDIANA JONES
-------------------------------------------------------
Man, I still remember when the Indy movies used to be a trilogy. Whether it should remain that way or not it's a matter of opinion, specially considering the fourth movie. I have to confess, I have Crystal Skull and I watch it once in a while, yes, it's because I'm a fan, but it's still very much inferior to it's predecessors, so I have no problems with people who claims Crystal Skull to be such a disgrace, but I still watch it at the end of the day, and still hope the next movie to be much better.
Yes, it was a trilogy once, and a damn good one! No matter how much more Indy movies they still wanna make, these ones will always represent for me what makes the series great and memorable in the first place!

- DirectorSergio LeoneStarsClint EastwoodGian Maria VolontèMarianne KochA wandering gunfighter plays two rival families against each other in a town torn apart by greed, pride, and revenge.NUMBER 8: THE MAN WITH NO NAME
-------------------------------------------------------
When I think about westerns and cowboys, almost immediately comes the image of Clint Eastwood in my mind.
This trilogy is iconic. Just that. You think about something awesome, something brutal, this is it. It's such iconic imagery that every single western or satire these days tends to pay tribute and to make reference.
And don't get me wrong there's still so many fine westerns out there, I watched a whole bunch of them, I watched John Wayne movies, and such, yes, I know.
But these three movies alone take the cake as the most iconic and memorable westerns ever made.
Those movies firmly established the western triumvirate of awesomeness: Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood and Ennio Morricone.

-------------------------------------------------------
I know that I will generate some controversy here, but...
These movies are simply put... FUNNY AS HELL!
Leslie Nielsen here is hilarious! Just hilarious! The gags, the characters, the situations... in my opinion these are among the best comedies ever made!
Yes, it's a comedy, but that doesn't mean it's bad, it's just tons of fun!!
I just... how do they say... LMAO, every time I see them! Those are gems of a truly great age, when comedy used to be funny.

-------------------------------------------------------
Ok, that goes for the real controversy.
Yeah, I know that the two sequels are very criticized, yeah, I know that they are not nearly as good as the first movie, yeah, I know that I could put here the Chan Wook vengeance trilogy here, the Scream trilogy, the Mad Max trilogy, the colors trilogy, or, who knows, the LOTR trilogy or such, witch I'm not a real fan of that last one, but I like it as well, and, yes, yes, yes, I KNOW that you'll criticize me.
But, I really enjoy to watch the Matrix trilogy.
I know that the first movie is the real good one, but I really enjoy to watch the other two as well.
Guilty pleasure? Maybe, but I think that people overreact a lot when it comes to these movies. I love sci-fi movies, and I personally think there's a lot of other things out there that smells badder than Reloaded and Revolutions.
But personally, I like to watch these movies. Really, I have lots of fun every time I pop up my Matrix trilogy in my system to take a look at.
I know the last two movies are not that good, but they have very nice moments that justify me to chose this for my top 10.
Again, this is a personal opinion. You can keep your vengeance trilogy, no problem, or even your Mariachi trilogy, witch I personally enjoy as well.
But I chose to put Neo and his gang to part with my other favorite trilogies in my top ten.
Well, that's pretty much it. Show me your comments, feel free to discuss those movies and to add your personal favorites, as well.
