Edward Everett Horton played the Mad Hatter in 1933, was voiced by Ed Wynn in the Disney animated film in 1951, and was played in the 1972 live action cult film, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," by Robert Helpmann.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppMichelle PfeifferEva GreenAn imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection.Jonathan Frid created the character of Barnabas Collins in the original daytime series of Dark Shadows in 1967 and played him until 1971. In 1991 Ben Cross played him in the primetime version of the show. In a 2005 never broadcast TV movie of Dark Shadows he was played by Alec Newman.
- DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsJohnny DeppArmie HammerWilliam FichtnerNative American warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice.Tonto first appeared in the 12th episode of the radio show in 1933 and was played by John Todd until 20 years later the show moved to television and Jay Silverheels took over. In 1981 a film version called "The Legend of the Lone Ranger" cast Michael Horse as the stoic Indian.
- DirectorW.S. Van DykeStarsWilliam PowellMyrna LoyMaureen O'SullivanFormer detective Nick Charles and his wealthy wife Nora investigate a murder case, mostly for the fun of it.Johnny Depp wants to remake this and play Nick Charles, who was played by William Powell in six films until 1947, Peter Lawford on TV from 1957 to 1959 and Craig Stevens on TV in 1975.
- CreatorRichard LevinsonWilliam LinkStarsJim HuttonDavid WayneTom ReeseThe son of a police detective solves baffling crimes.Ellery Queen first was on the sliver screen in 1935 and was played by Donald Cook. Ralph Bellamy played him in the 1940s and Jim Hutton played him in the TV show from 1976 to 1977. I think this would be a great vehicle for Johnny Depp.
- CreatorSam RolfeStarsRobert VaughnDavid McCallumLeo G. CarrollThe two top Agents of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.) fight the enemies of peace, particularly the forces of T.H.R.U.S.H.Robert Vaughn created the character of Napoleon Solo in 1964 on the original TV show until 1968 and in a 1983 TV movie sequel. I think Johnny Depp could make a great Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie as the new Napoleon Solo.
- CreatorSydney NewmanStarsJodie WhittakerPeter CapaldiPearl MackieThe further adventures in time and space of the alien adventurer known as the Doctor and his companions from planet Earth. There's been too many actors playing the Doctor for me to list. If the current series doesn't go on as long as the first one, it could transfer over to the big screen as a series of films and who better to be the latest Doctor but Johnny Depp?
- CreatorLarry GelbartStarsAlan AldaWayne RogersLoretta SwitThe staff of an Army hospital in the Korean War find that laughter is the best way to deal with their situation. The first Hawkeye was in the 1970 feature played by Donald Sutherland and his crazy smile. Then Alan Alda played him as a fast talking Groucho type from 1972 to 1983. Johnny Depp should play a new version of Hawkeye, except maybe put the M*A*S*H* in Afghanistan?
- DirectorWilliam DieterleStarsEdward ArnoldWalter HustonJane DarwellA nineteenth-century New Hampshire farmer makes a pact with Satan for economic success, then enlists famed orator Daniel Webster to extract him from his contract.Edward Arnold played a fictional version of Webster facing off against the Devil in court in the 1941 film and Edward G. Robinson did it on a TV episode in 1960. This would be another great collaboration for Johnny Depp to do with Tim Burton.
- DirectorBlake EdwardsStarsDavid NivenPeter SellersRobert WagnerThe bumbling Inspector Clouseau travels to Rome to catch a notorious jewel thief known as "The Phantom" before he conducts his most daring heist yet: a princess' priceless diamond with one slight imperfection, known as "The Pink Panther".From 1963 until 1978 the hilarious character of Insp. Jacques Clouseau was developed by Peter Sellers. Roger Moore did a decent job of portraying the same character after plastic surgery in the Ted Wais sequel about the worst detective in the world looking for the missing Clouseau. Roberto Benigni played a funny "Son of Clouseau" in 1993. Steve Martin revived the character in 2006 and 2009, but he never felt like Clouseau, but Johnny Depp could revive him in way no one else has been able to in either plastic surgery, the worst detective, his son, or in a Martinesque way.
