The Announcement of the Quarter Quell
President Snow (Donald Sutherland) decides that the best way to stamp out the revolution brewing in Panem is to kill Katniss. He and the head Gamemaker Plutarch (Philip Seymour Hoffman) decide this can best be accomplished by by selecting tributes from a pool of existing Hunger Games victors and force them to compete again in the 75th Hunger Games. Being the only living female victor from District 12, Katniss realizes that she for certain will be going into the Quarter Quell.
As an attempt for public empathy, Peeta lies during this interview with Ceaser and states that Katniss is pregnant and that they had secretly gotten married. Peeta’s lie does not get them out of the Quarter Quell, but does get the public on their side.
