- DirectorAndrew AdamsonVicky JensonStarsMike MyersEddie MurphyCameron DiazA mean lord exiles fairytale creatures to the swamp of a grumpy ogre, who must go on a quest and rescue a princess for the lord in order to get his land back.A witty comedy that makes me laugh every time, one that's packed with so much detail that I notice something new to smile about each watch, Shrek is one of my absolute favourite animated films of all time. It's adult humour, well-rounded characters and overall sense of fun has made this a classic in my book - despite some unfortunate memes.
- DirectorJoel CrawfordJanuel MercadoStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekHarvey GuillénWhen Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll and he has burned through eight of his nine lives, he launches an epic journey to restore them by finding the mythical Last Wish.
- DirectorAndrew AdamsonKelly AsburyConrad VernonStarsMike MyersEddie MurphyCameron DiazShrek and Fiona travel to the Kingdom of Far Far Away, where Fiona's parents are King and Queen, to celebrate their marriage. When they arrive, they find they are not as welcome as they thought they would be.The second outing isn't as good as the first because it looses some of the adult-wit that makes the original so funny, but the story is an entertaining if slightly generic one that's packed with some great pop-culture references; the send up of the tv-show 'Cops', cleverly entitled 'Knights', had me in stitches.
- DirectorMike MitchellStarsMike MyersCameron DiazEddie MurphyRumpelstiltskin tricks a mid-life crisis burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpelstiltskin rules supreme. The farewell to the (main) franchise tries to do something a little different, which is why it's more successful than 'Shrek The Third', but ultimately comes across as too childish and plays on the same themes explored many times in the series.
- DirectorChris MillerStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekZach GalifianakisAn outlaw cat, his childhood egg-friend, and a seductive thief kitty set out in search for the eggs of the fabled Golden Goose to clear his name, restore his lost honor, and regain the trust of his mother and town. This spin-off isn't the greatest, but it provides ample entertainment and a few genuine laughs whilst focusing on a character that is often revered as the best addition to the franchise (in Shrek 2.) The story is a little odd, taking a way some of the mystery essential to the central character, but it's decent enough and though the flick is unnecessary it's fun enough while it lasts.
- DirectorChris MillerRaman HuiStarsMike MyersCameron DiazEddie MurphyReluctantly designated as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away, Shrek hatches a plan to install the rebellious Artie as the new king while Princess Fiona tries to fend off a coup d'état by the jilted Prince Charming.Nothing really happens in this unneccessary third installment, and the franchise has been neutered slightly leaving almost no adult-jokes and therefore removing some of the best aspects seen in the first two. It's entirely inconsequential and not that entertaining.
