"Arrow" Showrunner Hints at Dark Season 4 Turn — Exclusive5 of 7
Laurel Lance/Black Canary
The only "Arrow" character not getting pummeled by family matters and the darkness within is Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), which leaves her to help Arrow in the fight against their nemesis Damien Darhk. "Our goal for the year was to put her on a new footing with Oliver and reinvent her as a character so that she wasn't tied so much to the events of the pilot and the five years that preceded it," says Mericle. "We really wanted to give her a series of wins, and she's going to be really key to helping put a big crimp in Damien Darhk's plans later on in the season. We're going to see her taking on a role we haven't seen her take on in a while."
