Josh McDermitt on "The Walking Dead" Season 6 Finale and Season 7 — Exclusive4 of 9
What do you know about Eugene's storyline in Season 7? Have you had a meeting with showrunner Scott M. Gimple to go over the trajectory?
I don't know yet. That's a meeting that I'm looking forward to having, just because I have ideas of what I would like to see with Eugene, and I'm sure once I talk with Scott, I'll realize all my ideas are stupid compared to the great things he has in store.
What do you hope is next for Eugene?
We started to see a little bit of it [in episodes 14 and 16]. Things went wrong. He saved his friends but things still went wrong. He got shot, and it was very scary. But then he turned around, and he continues. ... I would hope that he realizes this is how dangerous this world is. Not everybody is going to survive. Not everybody is going to come out safe. But you have to step up in this way, and he has the confidence to do that now. He has the support of his fellow survivors.
