June Picks: Movies and TV Shows You Can't Miss3 of 11
"Black Mirror" | Premieres Wednesday, June 5, on Netflix
"Black Mirror" is my go-to show when I want to get a glimpse at the shininess of near-future technology while simultaneously watching how we're probably going to be destroyed by it. Season 5 looks like it will deliver more of the (bad yet good) same with three new cautionary tales. "Rachel, Jack and Ashley, Too" focuses on a lonely teenager who longs to connect with her favorite pop star — whose charmed existence isn't quite as rosy it appears, "Striking Vipers" spins a cautionary tale about two estranged college friends who reunite in later life, triggering a series of events that could alter their lives forever, and "Smithereens" tells the story of a cab driver with an agenda who becomes the center of attention on a day that rapidly spirals out of control. Enjoy your dystopian present. — Vanessa
