The Non-Essential Ingmar Bergman

by jimmyr5595 | created - 13 Nov 2018 | updated - 3 weeks ago | Public

Ingmar Bergman works and related films not included in The Criterion Collection/Janus films' "Ingmar Bergman's Cinema" boxset. You can double check, but I think I got a lot of film & television work Bergman was a significant part of.

Ingmar Bergman's contribution to the film did not appear in the credits. However, the cover of the screenplay reads: 'A romantic comedy by Lars-Eric Kjellgren. Scenario: Lars-Eric Kjellgren and Ingmar Bergman.' There is therefore more than a hint of irony in the fact that one of the reviews (the most critical) cited Bergman without being aware of his input:

'Night Light is the result, the highly dubious result, of Lars-Eric Kjellgren's ambition to play the part of a Stockholm René Clair. Or if you will: proof of what can happen when one misconstrues Ingmar Bergman.'

Between this and Wild Strawberries BTS, he helped out with "The Minister of Uddarbo / Prästen i Uddarbo" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050863/ but his contribution seems most minimal. It does have Max von Sydow though.
