"The Terror"
The fruits of executive producer Ridley Scott's ridiculous 2017 labors spilled into 2018 with the debut of this AMC series, adapted from Dan Simmons' 2007 fictionalized account of Capt. Sir John Franklin's Arctic expedition in the mid-1800s. Preposterous and bleak — and thankfully, not just so it could be analogous to any political climate — it's as hard a watch and an easy a rewatch as we witnessed in the past 12 months. Will the tone change for Season 2, which switches the show's landscape to World War II internment camps? All we know is that we'll never look at Paul Ready and the soles of his feet the same way. — Tony
