- DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Mickey RourkeGwyneth PaltrowWith the world now aware of his identity as Iron Man, Tony Stark must contend with both his declining health and a vengeful mad man with ties to his father's legacy.#7 Iron Man 2 is utter garbage. It includes some of the worst scenes I have ever seen in a summer blockbuster ever, mainly the "drunk Iron Man at a house party" scene.
- DirectorLouis LeterrierStarsEdward NortonLiv TylerTim RothBruce Banner, a scientist on the run from the U.S. Government, must find a cure for the monster he turns into whenever he loses his temper.#6 I put this here mainly because it's the only one that I have no recollection about other than the final battle. I might need to re-watch this one.
- DirectorJoe JohnstonStarsChris EvansHugo WeavingSamuel L. JacksonSteve Rogers, a rejected military soldier, transforms into Captain America after taking a dose of a "Super-Soldier serum". But being Captain America comes at a price as he attempts to take down a warmonger and a terrorist organization.#5 Don't get me wrong, I like Captain America. It just was not as good as the top 4, all of which I consider to be great summer blockbusters.
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansScarlett JohanssonEarth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.#4 No, your eyes aren't fooling you. I have The Avengers not even in my top 3. It's a fine movie, but I just didn't like it as much as the other three. This is mainly due to the lack of character development in this movie. Plus, we already saw a movie where Loki was the villain. It seemed just too cliche. I did appreciate Cobie Smulders and Scarlette Johanson in tight, latex suits however.
- DirectorKenneth BranaghStarsChris HemsworthAnthony HopkinsNatalie PortmanThe powerful but arrogant god Thor is cast out of Asgard to live amongst humans in Midgard (Earth), where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.#3 I loved Thor. The effects of Asgard were awesome and it felt original compared to some of the other entries such as Capt. America.
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Gwyneth PaltrowTerrence HowardAfter being held captive in an Afghan cave, billionaire engineer Tony Stark creates a unique weaponized suit of armor to fight evil.#2 The movie that defined Phase One comes in at number 2 in my list. This is the second greatest Superhero origin movie ever (behind Batman Begins of course ... duh). What makes this one so great is that we get to see Tony Stark using his intellect to create Iron Man. The second movie felt like the suit was the star where this one did not.
- DirectorShane BlackStarsRobert Downey Jr.Guy PearceGwyneth PaltrowWhen Tony Stark's world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution.#1 As the great Skip Bayless may say, I might be a prisoner of the moment. However, I think not. This has the best comedy and writing of all seven films in the series so far. The plot-twist in the middle was original and refreshing. What I liked most was that like Iron Man 1, Tony Stark, rather than the suit, was the star. He is hardly ever actually in the suit during this movie. He got to show the engineering genius that he is just like he did in the first movie. In all seriousness, this was the least anticipated of all seven movies for me when I walked in the theater. I left being absolutely surprised at how much I liked it.
