She marries him out of gratitude and they move to his home on an island off the rockbound coast. Dee tries to convince Jim's salty old father, Pat, that she'll be a good and faithful wife. But she's a passionate woman with a bit of the devil in her, and she flirts with Jim's best friend Alf, who invites her to elope to Havana with him. When Pat is incapacitated, however, Dee loyally remains in the lighthouse to operate the beam and avert a shipwreck.

Tonita proves to be a big hit at her coming-out party set up by Michael's sister Diana, but Michael becomes angry that his family has "won". Tonita realizes the true reason for their marriage and finds comfort with Diana's lover Bob. Diana catches Tonita and Bob together and kills Bob, but Tonita takes the blame and is arrested, for this is the perfect revenge on Michael. Now, Michael realizes that he genuinely loves Tonita.

On a two-week vacation, Johnny brings Rockie home to meet the family, and Rockie is surprised to find Mary to be a beautiful and independent woman. Mary and Rockie fall in love, but when Johnny proposes marriage to Mary, she does not give a definite yes or no. Back at camp, Rockie throws himself into his work, but Johnny becomes jealous when he sees that Rockie is receiving letters from Mary and he is not, and accuses Rockie of stealing his girl. Mary comes for visitors' day, and Rockie avoids her to give Johnny time with her. Mary is mystified by Rockie's disappearance during the camp's informal stage show, during which she plays accompaniment to Johnny's song. When a forest fire erupts in the forest and entraps the trucks carrying the visitors home, Johnny grabs dynamite to explode the dam, so that their powder house will not be threatened by the fire, but Rockie knocks him out and does the job himself. Water from the broken dam extinguishes the fire, and Rockie recuperates in the hospital, and later, at Mary's house. After Rockie recovers, Johnny gladly acts as witness at Rockie and Mary's wedding, and then happily returns to the Corps.

On the way, he rescues Barbara "Buff" Andrews, pilot of a forced-down racing plane and daughter of Senator Andrews, who demands he take her back to San Pedro harbor. He explains who he is and what he is up to, and she insists on tagging along. At the port, Ferguson recognizes Keat and he and Buff are forced to accompany the gang. Ferguson plans on getting $50,000 from the Senator for his daughter's release, and he plans on using the money to finance the European sale of the jewels. Keat, knocked out while trying to escape, awakens to find himself tied on a horse being taken, with Buff, back into the mountains. Ferguson, not wishing to cut Ramirez in on the deal, bribes Pancho, a Ramirez henchie, to guide them to another hideout. Ramirez trails them and forces Ferguson to cut him in in return for safe conduct across the waterless desert. Buff's father, thinking Keat is the kidnapper, has the money dropped by airplane over a desert spot. Ferguson instructs one of his henchmen to kill Keat at the rendezvous spot but Keat is saved by Pancho, who disappears. Ferguson is about to shoot Ramirez, until the latter points out that he is their only guide out of the desert - and their water is about out.

A jewel robbery is in the news and a beautiful blonde is implicated, with Jack suspecting that Felice may be the culprit. On a stop over in Chicago, Jack learns instead that his passenger is a wealthy socialite at odds with another passenger, Count Stephani (Fred Keating). Jack worries that he may have a crisis involving the Count when he finds Stephani has a gun aboard. Other passengers include Dr. Evarts (Brian Donlevy) and Curtis Palmer (Alan Baxter, both of whom seem to be harboring a secret. Felice is trying to get to San Francisco in order to prevent her sister from marrying the Count's brother, but the flight runs into bad weather. Jack and Freddie Scott (John Howard), his co-pilot are persuaded to fly on but are eventually forced to make an emergency landing. Dr. Evarts tells Jack he is a federal agent pursuing Palmer, a notorious criminal, who now takes the opportunity to shoot Freddie and Dr. Everts, commandeering the aircraft. Jack manages to overcome Palmer, and with the help of Felice, is able to take off and fly to San Francisco. When the flight lands, he is able to have his dinner with Felice, collecting his bet, knowing that he will need the money for a marriage licence.
