My Favorite "Castle" Episodes
Castle is my special place. My private inner sanctuary. It got me through the difficult times at college & life at large, and I love almost all the 115+ episodes of Castle. Still through much painful deliberation, I came up with what I feel are the best all round episodes so far. Enjoy!

- DirectorRob BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanThe murder of a Latino army veteran ex-con, ex-Lobos-street gang member quickly links to a break-in in the late captain's home, to steal only and all his old police files, and yields the fingerprints of the sniper who nearly killed Beckett. Castle realizes continuing the investigation will draw him back and probably cost her life by squashing his deal with deep throat. Her refusal to back down causes a break up with Castle, and Gates suspends both her and Esposito for continuing an unauthorized investigation in a case assigned to another NYPD team. Now Beckett commits romantically.Kate & Rick finally, finally, get over each other's baggage & consummate their undeniable love for each other. Plus THAT HOT STEAMY MAKE-OUT SCENE AGAINST THE DOOR...us Caskett addicts still dream about it!
- DirectorRob BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanCop killer Hal Lockwood, whom Beckett visited unsuccessfully in jail for months hoping for a lead in her mother Johanna's closed murder case, is released by a faked order into the general population, where he slices rogue cop Gary McCallister's throat, then is helped by fake cops to escape. Beckett, his likely next target, receives warnings from her father, Montgomery and Castle. Much helped by Ryan and Esposito, the duo work out that there must be a police accomplice and/or mastermind controlling Chuck Ryker, the debt-ridden corrupt jailer who was found murdered at his home. The first "I Love You" comes from...wait for it...not surprisingly Richard Castle, who was so obviously in love with Kate throughout Season 3. Besides we miss you Cp. Montgomery. Best Police Chief ever. If he didn't bring Rick to the precinct, Caskett would have never happened and he died sacrificing his life for Kate!
- DirectorChuck BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanCastle senses a diary of a P.I from the 1940s found in the effects of a murdered modern-day treasure hunter is the key to finding the Blue Butterfly, a blue-diamond necklace. The team works out the story situated in 1947 in the same, now derelict, music club, involving murder, gangsters, and theft; they work out the true parts and identities of culprits and victims.Another unofficial Caskett kiss & a love story for the ages that opened Kate & Rick's eyes to their own epic saga!
- DirectorRob BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanA man Beckett has been secretly following is found dead - and then a notorious criminal involved in the first death is killed with Beckett's own gun. Faced with an elaborate frame-up, she has no choice but to run.Closure at last for Kate Beckett! :)
- DirectorThomas J. WrightStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanThe detective on Beckett's mother's homicide case is killed after telling her he has information. The very first Caskett kiss (albeit undercover & unofficial)...still a hot steamy make-out nevertheless. Plus check-out Rick knocking Lookwood unconscious...just to protect his darling Kate! Soooo CUTE & swoon-worthy! Btw Stana looks even more beautiful than usual.
Besides we got the very first but most important ALWAYS from Rick, signifying that he was committed for the long haul...a departure from his previous womanizing ways. - DirectorPaul HolahanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanWhen Castle gets knocked out while tracking some criminals with Beckett, he wakes up to a world in which he and Kate have never met. This is just awesome sauce Casketty goodness. As good as it will get for us hardcore Caskett fans with the much desired exchange of vows at last. EPIC!
- DirectorJonathan FrakesStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanDuring the annual major science fiction convention, Nebula 9 - super-fan Audrey O'Neill, who finally organized a life performance starring the short-lived series' original cast as well after decade of 'webipsodes' with a nerd couple, is found dead on set, killed with a real 'space laser' (of which only two working ones were custom-made). Castle, who thinks he has better taste, is amused to find Becket was part of a college fan group. The team works out various personal, career and business motives as well as opportunities for cast and crew.A geeks heaven (comic-con theme) headed by a geek-god himself (Nathan Fillion). Plenty of tasty Firefly & Star Trek references. The whole shebang was crafted wonderfully by Mr. Director Geek Jonathan Banks himself. Castle with a hint of Geek!
Btw how hot was Kate in that Nebula 9 costume! Reaver mask or not I'd have let myself be devoured by that goddess of a woman, Ricky! - DirectorDavid BarrettStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanA case involving a sniper brings back memories for Beckett of her own shooting.Pitch-perfect acting from Stana Katic. PTSD is a very sensitive issue which nevertheless is haphazardly thrown about by a lot of TV shows. So I'm grateful that Castle took the matter in its stride & dealt with it properly & professionally and showed how bad & debilitating PTSD really is.
- DirectorRob BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanThe NYPD searches for Beckett while 3XK calmly plays with them.Hands down, the best of 3XK!
- DirectorLarry ShawStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanCastle is home, mostly alone, in a wheelchair after a skiing accident, bored out of his wits just before his birthday. After a while, he actually picks up a pair of binoculars Alexis gave him to play Rear Window. Indeed, right across the street a foxy resident betrays her studly husband with a younger hottie. Shortly after, the cheated husband finds his rival's hat, wields a knife and seems to dispose of the corpse while she isn't seen again. Yet his NYPD team mates only reluctantly investigate and can't find any proof. Castle becomes obsessed with the possibility that he witnessed a murder, while Beckett grows increasingly upset with his mania and sets out to find out the truth one way or the other. That's when things take a surprising and shocking turn...A quintessential "Castle" episode to celebrate the 100th episode. Hats off to you Terri & Andrew! Achieving 100 episodes is a big enough deal but they go & make possibly the best 'Castley' Castle episode. If the episode confirms anything, it's the fact that Castle is the best show out there & that Kate & Rick are so very perfect for each other!
- DirectorRob BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanAfter a serial killer starts displaying the victims the way done in Richard "Rick" Castle's books, Castle teams up with Detective Kate Beckett to solve the case. He then starts to shadow her for his new book. The moment Kate & Rick met. The moment Rick fell in love with Kate. The moment Kate uttered "You have no idea.." and opened up the possibilities. The moment us fans fell in love with 'Castle'!
- DirectorBryan SpicerStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanCastle and Martha are held hostage during a bank robbery and Beckett has to try to get them and the other hostages out.Kate oh dear Kate. You really can't hide how much you love that warm, kind & sincere teddy bear of a guy Richard Castle!
- DirectorJohn TerleskyStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanCastle and Beckett wake up handcuffed together in a locked room with no memory of how they got there. Their colleagues try to retrace their steps and find them. The air was practically sizzling with Caskett chemistry. I still wonder how they kept their hands off each other..though they did hold hands for a while and even got into some very suggestive positions to escape from their captives.
- DirectorBryan SpicerStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanIn a two-part storyline, Federal Agent Jordan Shaw, an insightful and accomplished Federal investigator, teams up with Castle & Beckett to hunt down a cunning and elusive serial killer. My favorite two-parter. Agent Shaw is hilarious, witty, kick-ass & immensely perceptive. She almost immediately calls out on the duo asking Kate "So how long have you two been sleeping together?" which just sends me up in a giggling fit!
- DirectorMilan CheylovStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanCastle becomes a Private Investigator and tries to solve a case before the precinct can.Oh boy this 7th Season gem gives me the feels..feels of that unique & mesmerizing banter between Castle & Beckett that first hooked us into the Castle world. I think the world is a better place when Rick & Kate finish each others sentences..why aren't we getting more of that of late?
- DirectorRob BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanBeckett is recruited to assist on a Narcotics investigation, but a routine mission turns deadly when an undercover operation goes awry. To survive, Beckett must engage in a battle against some of the most dangerous men in the New York underworld - including a powerful enemy from her past.Stana Katic's best performance on Castle since "Kill Shot". Really turned up the intensity on the Beckett-Bracken feud.
- DirectorThomas J. WrightStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanWhile investigating the death of an Irish mobster, Beckett and Castle uncover a local turf war that may be connected to both a late-night infomercial guru and an international drug smuggling operation. But the case turns agonizingly personal when evidence emerges that the killer they're chasing may have had a hand in Beckett's mother's murder.Kate Beckett: "I've gotten used to you pulling my pigtails", and we were totally blindsided with a shocking revelation into Kate's mother's murder. But my favorite scene is Castle with his hand on Kate's shoulder while she sobbed with bloody hands.
- DirectorRob BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanCastle and Beckett's romantic weekend in the Hamptons turns sour when a dying man stumbles into Castle's pool.Caskett went skinny-dipping!
- DirectorJohn TerleskyStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanWendy Dupree, murdered in a cheap motel, wrote a clue in her blood. When Castle realizes it's no word but a number, it leads, in combination with her phone records, to a storage compartment, about to be auctioned, rented by her brother Wendell, an ex-con, who died in a suspicious accident a few months earlier. He was employed as driver by socialite Anjelica Henley, who recently reported a super-valuable diamond, stolen in a robbery, focus of further criminal intrigues. The earlier past provides the crucial clues, while Castle and his mother worry about Alexis's impending moving out to a dorm, albeit in New York.Probably the best Castle quote of all time: “Even on the worst days, there’s a possibility for joy.” Besides it also gave rise to the best, hottest & steamiest handshake ever!
- DirectorJohn TerleskyStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanWhen Beckett's old training officer is killed, she takes off on a solo mission to find the killer. On the plane she runs into Castle who is flying out to the Heat Wave movie set. She lets him help her catch the killer.Caskett..so near yet so far! At least we finally got to see Kate in a swimsuit, Royce gave 'Caskett' a full recommendation and saw bad-ass Det. Kate Beckett ("It's sunny with a chance of ass-kicking!")
- DirectorBill RoeStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanHasim Farouk, a student at Columbia like Alexis, is killed by a van crashing into him while he emptied his gun into it. The team soon works out the van was used to kidnap not only Egyptian tycoon Anwar El-Masri's daughter Sara, but also Alexis, whom she attended a lecture with. FBI agent Harris' sole lead, obtained from Castle torturing the wounded van driver, runs into a dead-end. Meanwhile, the girls attempt an escape, but discover they are not where they thought they were.Nathan Fillion shows a very emotional side to his character Richard Castle, and brings forth probably his best performance on Castle after that "Always scene" when he finally confessed his feelings to an 'alive' Kate Beckett. Plus check out that hairs-on-end moment when Castle (on don't-mess-with-me-father-mode) tortures the answers out a very reluctant suspect...a side to him which neither we nor Kate thought him to posses.
- DirectorRob BowmanStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanCastle and Beckett re-evaluate their relationship after spending the night together.Kate Beckett wearing Castle's shirt (and nothing else), bringing coffee after Caskett's first night together. A fan's dream come true! Besides they handled Joanna's murder perfectly...enough for now but not really enough that we need to dip into it sooner than later. Caskett are finally together at last!
- DirectorBill RoeStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanWith time running out, Castle and Beckett must put aside their differences with Agent Fallon to avert a city-wide catastrophe. An adrenaline rush to the end. Kate & Rick's partnership stands tall & firm and I suspect that Kate finally moves past the crush-stage to love-stage with Rick.
- DirectorBill RoeStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanWhen a beautiful woman is found dead in an alley, all clues point to her being a victim of the notorious Triple Killer. The Triple Killer, or 3XK, terrorized New York City four years ago, then mysteriously disappeared. Now he's back. In a deadly battle of wits, Castle and Beckett race against time to stop 3XK before he claims his next victims.
- DirectorBill RoeStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanAfter tracking a killer to his apartment, Beckett steps on a bomb trigger and must stand in place while the bomb squad finds a way to defuse it. Castle stays with her, and they argue over who liked who first, via flashbacks.Best clip-show episode ever! Full of Caskett goodness!
- DirectorJohn TerleskyStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanAfter Tessa Horton is murdered in a bizarre fashion at her apartment, evidence piles up, all pointing at Castle. He denies knowing her, let alone having had an affair, but there are fingerprints, security footage and recovered hard-drive evidence all showing he did. Although no one in the precinct can believe him guilty, they must arrest him based on the evidence. Only then does vindictive serial killer Jerry Tyson manifest himself to Castle while he is in Holding at the precinct, promising that he won't survive jail, which calls for a radical solution.Best 3XK episode yet. Richard Castle has his best kick-ass, macho moment in shooting 3XK to oblivion..while protecting his darling Kate. Besides how good a twist was it when Rick orchestrated his very own escape from the clutches of 3XK & the NYPD!
- DirectorJeff BlecknerStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanAn actress playing Nikki Heat shadows Castle and Beckett on the death of a matchmaker. Meanwhile, Ryan plans on proposing to Jenny.
- DirectorJohn TerleskyStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanIllegal Czech immigrant Eliska Sokel's corpse is found hidden in a sewer, two days after her death. Her also-illegal ex, Teodor Hajek, explains she left him after their son died from a congenital disease. She had worked on the concierge staff of a luxury residence but was fired after Dr. Cameron Talbot's wife questioned the appropriateness of her treating their son Zane to a lollipop. Castle wonders how Beckett will take his dedication of a book starring her alter-ego, and his agent Haas's offer of a contract to write 3 British spy novels. They still solve the case after unearthing an old, tragic secret.Richard Castle to Kate: "You are extraordinary!" and THAT Heat Wave dedication to Kate...a truly awwww moment.
- DirectorBryan SpicerStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanA death of a bridesmaid reunites Castle with his long lost love.Kate...jealous of Rick's down-to-earth former one-true-love?
- DirectorKaren GaviolaStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanA case near Halloween has Castle and Beckett investigating the death of a man in a graveyard, wearing fangs.Cp. Malcolm Reynolds finally surfaces again, thanks to Nathan Fillion donning the costume from his cult-favorite character in Firefly!
- DirectorBryan SpicerStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanA frozen female corpse discovered at a new construction site transforms a cold five-year-old missing persons case into a current homicide investigation.Kate first opens up to Rick about her mother!
- DirectorBryan SpicerStarsNathan FillionStana KaticSusan SullivanThe death of a bar owner takes Castle and Beckett back in time to the prohibition era.Prohibition-era smuggling, mob hits, gambling, a bit of flirty undercover work, 150-year-old whiskey, and a new watering hole for the precinct. Topped off with a rousing round of Billy Joel’s Piano Man by the gang.
