Viewing the horrific contents of each cassette, they realize there may be dark motives behind the student's disappearance.Far better than the first, the sequel simply has better stories and better execution.
The story about the bizarre cult is one of the best in this collection and the only thing that bothered me about it was that muppet looking demon towards the end. Everything worked well and they had to show the muppet.. - DirectorKarl DeMolayWill FrankKing JeffStarsKing JeffGorioBrian LanniganA horror anthology featuring 6 new tales of terror.Yes I was involved with this film, but regardless I still think it's one of the best in recent times.
One great thing is that there is no lame wrap around story concocted merely to thread the stories together. Why bother with that? Why do some shlocky connecting business when it's the stories that are most important.
Secondly it's the originality of the stories. No two are alike and I can guarantee you haven't seen the concepts presented on film before. - DirectorDouglas BuckBuddy GiovinazzoDavid GregoryStarsUdo KierVirginia NewcombAmanda MarquardtA modern horror omnibus inspired by the over-the-top shocks of Paris' early 20th century 'Theatre du Grand Guignol'. Enola Penny sneaks into an abandoned theater and witnesses six bizarre tales. The Theatre Bizarre has it's ups and downs but I did enjoy a few of the stories immensely (Mother of Toads is great except for that last shot. If you've seen it you know what I mean).
The wrap around is decent enough with Udo Kier hosting a strange theatrical production for it's lone audience member. - DirectorSean S. CunninghamJoe DanteJohn GaetaStarsJayce BartokHenry GibsonLara HarrisSeven strangers on a Hollywood movie studio tour are trapped inside an infamous House of Horror and forced to tell their most terrifying stories to get out alive. It's possible the thing I liked most about this decent horror anthology was the wrap around story! Henry Gibbons folks, Henry effin' Gibbons! And a few of the stories are quite good to boot.
- DirectorMichael DoughertyStarsAnna PaquinBrian CoxDylan BakerFive interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: an everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband; and a mean old man meets his match with a demonic, supernatural trick-or-treater.Trick 'r Treat succeeds much like Creepshow did back in the 80's, by making a complete movie with top notch stories, wraparound and everything.
There is a kind of lyrical and poetic quality about some of the episodes and the wraparound itself which sets this apart from so many horror anthology movies.
Beautifully shot, well acted and well written, and guess what?
They are making a another one!
I am not usually big on sequels, but the same creative entities are involved so you know they are going to put some juice into the next one.
