Adrian Lyne: Best of 20129 of 11
#3: The Master
I loved The Master. I thought it was pretty staggering - the way it was made. The direction by Paul Thomas Anderson was extraordinary and the performances as well. I thought it was Joaquin Phoenix's best performance, bar none. I'm also a sucker for Philip Seymour Hoffman, who I think is one of the best actors working in the States. People had concerns about the last act, which petered out a little bit. But I was so bewitched by the way it was made and the acting and the way it was cast with people you haven't seen endlessly before. He is himself a master, Paul Thomas Anderson.
