Kacy Catanzaro is an American professional wrestler, gymnast and athletics-based television personality. She is signed to WWE, where she competes on the NXT brand. She was the first woman to qualify for the finals of the television sports show American Ninja Warrior and the first woman to complete a City Finals course. Born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Catanzaro grew up and attended high school in nearby Belleville and is of Italian descent. She is a small woman, standing only 5 ft (1.524 m) tall and weighing only 95 pounds (43 kg). She began doing gymnastics at age 5. She attended Towson University in Towson, Maryland, from 2009 until 2012, studying early childhood education on an athletic scholarship. Catanzaro was a Junior Olympic gymnast, having started training at age 6. She reached level 10 in 2007 and competed at the 2007 New Jersey Level 10 State Championships where she placed fifth in the Senior-A division. The following year Catanzaro competed at the 2008 New Jersey Level 10 State Championships where she placed third and advanced to the 2008 Junior Olympic National Championships. She finished 23rd overall but finished 6th on the uneven bars. he worked for Alpha Warrior, an obstacle-course gym in San Antonio, Texas, from February 2013.
Catanzaro spent two years training for American Ninja Warrior alongside her then-boyfriend and co-competitor Brent Steffensen. She did not complete the qualifying course in Venice, California, but was an invited wild card at the 2013 finals, where she fell early on the Giant cycle/ring.
In 2014, Catanzaro became the first woman to complete the qualifying course of American Ninja Warrior (Season 6), making it up the warped wall on her second try at 5:26.18 at the Dallas qualifiers, ranking her 21 out of 30; this also makes her the first woman to make it up the warped wall in competition. Later in 2014, Catanzaro competed in the Dallas finals of American Ninja Warrior. She was the first woman ever to complete a city finals course (and the second woman to attempt it after Jessie Graff in season 5), qualifying for the national finals in Las Vegas with a time of 8 minutes, 59 seconds. (Through 2017 she remains the only woman to have ever completed a City Finals course.) Host commentator Akbar Gbaja-Biamila remarked "I've seen greatness during my NFL career...And I've been in awe of people, but I am really in awe of Kacy" The run had been especially notable because due to her short stature, many of the obstacles looked difficult to manage and in one case, she had to leap between boards whereas other competitors could traverse them. Her achievement made her a social media phenomenon, with her run being viewed over 100 million times; supporters on Twitter coined the hashtag #MightyKacy. Kacy Catanzaro failed to complete the first round of the National Finals in Las Vegas. She made it past the first three obstacles, including the Giant Ring and the Silk Slider, before she fell attempting the Jumping Spider, where her full extension was simply too short to hold the position. In the 2015 Houston Qualifying round (Season 7), Catanzaro failed to complete the course after falling on the cargo crossing. She was given a wild card spot in Vegas and she failed due to a mistimed trampoline jump at the Propeller Bar at Stage 1 of The Finals on September 7. By this time the pressure she felt to live up to her broadcast reputation as Ninja's greatest female competitor was reportedly showing and she was tearful in the post-run interview. In 2016, Catanzaro was invited to compete in the 32nd competition of the original Japanese version of ANW, Sasuke. Catanzaro performed well, completing 8 of the stage 1 obstacles before timing out on the final obstacle, the Lumberjack Climb. Since the course's renewal and increased difficulty, Catanzaro set the record for the furthest a female athlete has gone and the closest a female athlete has gotten to completing stage 1 since the 2nd competition (until 2017 when Jessie Graff completed stage 1 and became the first woman ever to complete stage 2.) In the 2016 Oklahoma City Qualifying round (Season 8), Catanzaro failed to complete the course after falling on an early obstacle, the Log Runner, on June 20; however, she was again given a Wild Card spot in Las Vegas. In the Las Vegas National Finals, Stage 1, she fell on the second obstacle. In December 2016 Catanzaro co-hosted as a broadcaster the Team Ninja Warrior College Madness series of shows. In 2017, Catanzaro competed in American Ninja Warrior season 9 in the San Antonio city qualifier and finals. In the former she failed on the fourth obstacle, but did well enough to qualify for city finals under the show's new rules. In that latter run she had her best performance since 2014, making it past the Sky Hooks and the fifth obstacle to get the now-higher Warped Wall, which she failed to surmount. Nonetheless she qualified for the national finals. At the national finals, she failed on Stage 1 at the Double Dipper.
In 2017, Catanzaro announced her retirement from American Ninja Warrior, with season 9 being her last.Kacy Catanzaro- German professional wrestler Irish wrestler from Dublin. McCool originally worked as a middle school teacher in Palatka, Florida. She joined WWE in 2004 after participating in the 2004 WWE Diva Search. In her initial on-screen role, she acted primarily as a personal trainer and occasional wrestler. She also acted as the manager to the team of K. C. James and Idol Stevens, collectively known as The Teacher's Pets, in 2006 after changing her on-screen character to that of a teacher. At The Great American Bash in 2008, she became the inaugural WWE Divas Champion, holding the title for approximately five months. She then won the WWE Women's Championship at The Bash in 2009, becoming the first person to have held both titles. At Night of Champions in 2010, she unified both titles becoming the first WWE Unified Divas Champion. She has held both titles on two occasions which makes her a four-time champion overall. McCool first came to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a competitor in the 2004 WWE Diva Search, losing to Christy Hemme. Although she was eliminated, WWE signed her to a three-year deal in November. Despite not winning the contest, she later debuted on SmackDown! as a fan favorite with a "Personal Trainer" gimmick. She wrestled in her first SmackDown! match, teaming with The Big Show to defeat Dawn Marie and René Duprée on March 3, 2005. A few months later, McCool became a part of the feud between MNM and Heidenreich when she defended Heidenreich against MNM's manager Melina's verbal attacks. In a match on June 30, Melina defeated McCool by pinning her with the illegal aid of the ring ropes as leverage. After the match, MNM performed their finisher, the Snapshot, on McCool.
McCool was then sent to WWE's developmental facility, Deep South Wrestling (DSW), where she wrestled, performed interviews, hosted segments, and provided color commentary. This feud led to a Fatal Four-Way Bra and Panties match at The Great American Bash, which Massaro won. She won her first singles match on the July 28 edition of SmackDown!, defeating Hall by illegally using the ropes as leverage. Soon after, she began acting as valet for the team of K. C. James and Idol Stevens, who, because of her association with them, were nicknamed The Teacher's Pets. The trio began feuding with Paul London and Brian Kendrick, and their valet Massaro, for the WWE Tag Team Championship, but never won the title. The feud ended when London and Kendrick won a match against them at No Mercy in October. On November 28, McCool was hospitalized with an enlarged kidney, a broken sternum, and an electrolyte imbalance. She was released from the hospital on December 2.
All-American Diva; Divas Champion (2007-2008) McCool returned on the March 30, 2007 edition of SmackDown!, where she participated in a 10-Diva tag team match. McCool then became caught in the middle of a feud between the villainous Jamie Noble and her on-screen friend Chuck Palumbo. After a series of matches between the men, Noble won a date with McCool by defeating Palumbo in a match. In the storyline, Palumbo accidentally elbowed McCool during a match, causing her to suffer a concussion. The partnership was dissolved when McCool refused to accept his apology. She then went on to compete in a series of contests with Victoria, Eve Torres, Maryse and Cherry to determine SmackDown!s top Diva, subsequently winning the title. McCool then defeated Gail Kim on the May 22 taping of SmackDown to become the number one contender for the WWE Women's Championship, which she would win a month later at The Bash by defeating Melina. She retained the championship against Melina during a rematch on July 26 at Night of Champions.
McCool then formed an alliance with Layla, and entered into a feud with Mickie James, which resulted in a five-on-five Elimination match at Survivor Series, which James' team won. James then became the number one contender for McCool's championship at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, where McCool successfully retained the championship. However, McCool lost the WWE Women's Championship to James at the 2010 Royal Rumble, though she regained it on the February 26 edition of SmackDown when special guest referee Vickie Guerrero interfered, costing James the Championship. On the April 23 edition of SmackDown, she and Layla attacked Beth Phoenix with a spray and table. The attack was a reference to the upcoming Extreme Makeover WWE Women's Championship match between McCool and Phoenix at the 2010 Extreme Rules, which McCool lost. When the heads of the World Wresting Entertainment (WWE) industry began a search for the sport's next "Diva" in 2006, they did not know what they had in store for them. Scouring the United States with camera crews in tow, the WWE set out with the Diva Search competition. Out of 20,000 girls they didn't anticipate a beautiful, French speaking, fashion model to quickly become the sport's femme fatale, earning almost instantaneous one-name fame usually reserved for pop singers. Nobody saw Maryse coming but she's definitely here.
Maryse Ouellet was born January 21st in Montreal, Canada to a well known master chef and a compassionate nurse, but something in her genes destined her to become the planet's toughest beauty. Growing up a tomboy in the province of Quebec, Maryse often competed and played with the boys. She excelled at sports and developed a passion for track and field. At age 15 she competed and won a mini marathon beating over 2000 adults and taking the honor of being the youngest winner in the history of the competition. Swimming was another passion, gaining her a position as a lifeguard at an aquatic park while still in high school, but it was then that her focus changed from sports to fashion. Maryse attended Collège Montmorency de Laval obtaining a degree in Business Administration.
Maryse began her modeling career as a beauty pageant contestant, winning Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada in 2003 and finishing second at the International Finals of Miss Hawaiian Tropic 2004. She has appeared in hundreds of magazines and newspapers throughout the world. Maryse was one of the most downloaded celebrities on www.playboy.com.
In 2006 with some encouragement from friends, Maryse decided to combine her love of modeling and sports and audition for WWE's Diva Search. Standing at an impressive 5'8" and holding a black belt in martial arts, the stunning blonde stood out amongst her counterparts. Maryse arrived in Los Angeles to audition for the show with a dream and no understanding of the English language. Although eliminated early in the 2006 Diva Search competition, Maryse left an impression on the producers and they recruited the Montreal native for intensive training in combat sports. Joining dozens of other WWE hopefuls Maryse trained with the best and brightest in the field of entertainment wrestling. In those two years she learned English and perfected her famous finishing moves known as the "French Kiss" and the "French TKO". Often referred to as the "Sexiest of the Sexy" Maryse's entrance into the world of WWE led her to her first WWE Divas Championship title reigning from 2008-2009. After defeating nine other female wrestlers Maryse was crowned the Diva Champion, the 2nd Diva ever to hold the title and the longest ever title holder. In 2009 Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked Maryse #9 of the best 50 female singles wrestlers.
