Cannes Film Festival 2016
Here are the films I have seen from the Cannes Film Festival 2016. This list is fed from my Cannes Film Festival Interest List 2016
I saw #1 before the festival then #2 to #15 at Cannes itself; once I start my post-festival catch-up (as the films are released) they will appear at #16 onwards.
We were there Wednesday to Wednesday so particularly sad to miss The Neon Demon (2016), The Salesman (2016) and Elle (2016) which premiere later. We averaged two films per day which is pretty good for Cannes considering that I was there for other reasons too, notably the IMDb dinner. Due to timing we missed Paterson (2016) and Toni Erdmann (2016).
My top picks from what we saw are I, Daniel Blake (2016), Money Monster (2016), The Handmaiden (2016) and From the Land of the Moon (2016) (and honourable mentions for Staying Vertical (2016), American Honey (2016) and Loving (2016)). The quality was outstanding across everything we saw with there being only one film which we did not like (and many other people loved it, which is the beauty of Cannes).
It was also a great Cannes for Amazon Studios too.
