Oscars 2017: First-Time Nominee Spotlight2 of 18
Luke Davies
Australian poet, novelist, and screenwriter Luke Davies is nominated in the Best Adapted Screenplay category for Lion, which is based on the book "A Long Way Home" by Saroo Brierley. His first project for the big screen was co-writing the screenplay to Candy, which starred Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish, and was based on his very own novel "Candy: A Novel of Love and Addiction." This was a personal project for the Aussie because the film deals with heroin use -- something he’d overcome in 1990. Since then, Davies also wrote Reclaim and Life.
