Eric Heisserer is an American screenwriter who is nominated in the Best Adapted Screenplay category for Arrival. Heisserer took the story of this sci-fi flick from Ted Chiang’s 1998 short story and novella titled "Story of Your Life." Prior to Arrival, Heisserer co-wrote the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, and wrote the fifth installment in the Final Destination franchise, the prequel to The Thing, and the horror hit Lights Out. Up next for Heisserer is the Van Helsing reboot, though no release date is known at this point.
