12 Biggest Emmy Snubs and Surprises of All Time9 of 12
9. "Modern Family"
No one is saying that "Modern Family" doesn't deserve the earlier Emmy recognition it received. It was a groundbreaking, hilarious show when it premiered in 2009. However, after four consecutive wins in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, in 2014 many felt that it was time for some new blood. "Modern Family" faced fresh competition from series including "Louie," "Veep," "Silicon Valley" and "Orange is the New Black," so it was a shock when the ABC show picked up its fifth Emmy for Outstanding Comedy that year. Its winning streak finally ended in 2015 when "Veep" won the prize.
