12 Biggest Emmy Snubs and Surprises of All Time3 of 12
3. "The Wire"
It's not as if HBO hasn't seen the lion's share of Emmys for series like "Game of Thrones" and "Veep," but for some reason, Emmy gold didn't happen for its gripping drama "The Wire." The series, ostensibly about Baltimore and was a study of a city in decay with police corruption going all the way up the chain of command. Despite getting a lot of love and accolades from other organizations, the only two Emmy nominations it ever received were for writing. The show's stellar cast, including 2016 Emmy nominees Idris Elba and Wendell Pierce did not receive a single nomination over the course of the show's five-season run.
