11 Things to Expect From "The Walking Dead" Season 71 of 11
The wait will be "worth it" but also "a huge downer"
Fans are anxious to see the deadly result of the Season 6 finale cliffhanger, and we'll learn who Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed right away in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere. The producers — as well as stars like Melissa McBride (Carol) and Norman Reedus (Daryl) — have said "the wait is worth it." As McBride put it to Entertainment Weekly, "the premiere is just going to be... oh God, it's going to rock the walls. The wait is worth it."
However, we may end up wishing the wait were even longer. Tom Payne (Jesus) told Express.co.uk that "The beginning of next season is going to be very tough and pretty graphic and horrible," later adding, "Unfortunately I think a lot of people who are wishing for the death and wishing that they had seen it [in the Season 6 finale], I think after the first episode they might wish they hadn’t wished for it because it’s going to be very brutal and a huge downer. At that point you hate Negan and you want him defeated."
AMC's season premiere sneak peek showed the aftermath of Negan's kill. That scene confirmed the victim was not Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), but it was potentially someone Rick considered a "right hand man" who was kneeling close to him in the lineup.
