Evil Dead Series Ranked
This is how I personally rank the 'Evil Dead' series (including 'Ash Vs. Evil Dead (2015-2018)'), from best (#1) to worst - even though they're all good in their own way.

- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellEllen SandweissRichard DeManincorFive friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons. It's very low budget, some of the dialogue is hokey, the acting can be wooden at times and a couple scenes made me laugh due to their slightly campy nature but the overall experience is very entertaining; it is well-made - especially for the budget, gory, interesting, iconic and can actually be pretty tense/suspenseful. There's just something about the original that stands out.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellSarah BerryDan HicksAsh Williams, the lone survivor of an earlier onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits, holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack.More 'splat-stick' than scary, the second installment cranks up the goofiness but retains the horror resulting in an entertaining flick from start to finish. My only real hesitations come from the numerous continuity errors present, which are especially noticeable when watching the films back to back.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellEmbeth DavidtzMarcus GilbertWhen Ash Williams is accidentally transported to 1300 A.D., he must retrieve the Necronomicon and battle an army of the dead in order to return home. The third installment of the series is certainly the strangest, with a medevil setting and completely comic tone; think a three stooges skit combined with a whacky cartoon with Bruce Campbell right in the center. It does have it's lion's share of memorable moments and quotable one-liners, but it just isn't 'Evil Dead.'
- DirectorLee CroninStarsMirabai PeaseRichard CrouchleyAnna-Maree ThomasA twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.
- DirectorFede AlvarezStarsJane LevyShiloh FernandezJessica LucasFive friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods.A straight horror vibe, some extreme cringe-enducing gore and a surprise final act differentiate this from the original; while this may be a better film overall, it isn't the best 'Evil Dead' film because there's just something really raw about the first - a commendable effort though, certainly not for the squeamish.
