Spider-Man Movies Ranked
This is how I rank all of the Spider-Man 'solo' films to be released, meaning the film must focus on him as a central character (which therefore excludes 'Captain America: Civil War'), from best (#1) to worst.

- DirectorSam RaimiStarsTobey MaguireKirsten DunstWillem DafoeAfter being bitten by a genetically-modified spider, a shy teenager gains spider-like abilities that he uses to fight injustice as a masked superhero and face a vengeful enemy.Who would have though that the director of the 'Evil Dead' trilogy would tackle Spider-Man, but this super-hero pioneer is an entertaining film still to this day. Sure, the Goblin is a little hammy and the flick can be a little cheesy, but it is also surprisingly brutal at times and is real fun throughout - blockbuster film-making with flair that's much better than the washed-out, generic stuff we so often get nowadays.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsTobey MaguireKirsten DunstAlfred MolinaPeter Parker is beset with troubles in his failing personal life as he battles a former brilliant scientist named Otto Octavius. While close to the original in terms of quality (in my book), the sequel just tops the first because it tells a slightly more nuanced and mature tale; Doc Ock is a great villain, the action sequences are fantastic and the story really resonates.
- DirectorBob PersichettiPeter RamseyRodney RothmanStarsShameik MooreJake JohnsonHailee SteinfeldTeen Miles Morales becomes the Spider-Man of his universe and must join with five spider-powered individuals from other dimensions to stop a threat for all realities.
- DirectorJoaquim Dos SantosKemp PowersJustin K. ThompsonStarsShameik MooreHailee SteinfeldBrian Tyree HenryMiles Morales catapults across the multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandMichael KeatonRobert Downey Jr.Peter Parker balances his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens with his superhero alter-ego Spider-Man, and finds himself on the trail of a new menace prowling the skies of New York City.It skips the origin entirely while focusing on a younger Spider-Man who's less experienced and less innately powerful, allowing for a unique film that gives us something we haven't seen before; the villain is also the best since Doc Ock and it's really fun when it gets going.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandZendayaBenedict CumberbatchWith Spider-Man's identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsTobey MaguireKirsten DunstTopher GraceA strange black entity from another world bonds with Peter Parker and causes inner turmoil as he contends with new villains, temptations, and revenge. There's a few cringe-worthy sequences, too many underdeveloped villains, who are certainly the work of an interfering studio, and the narrative is generally overstuffed to the point where nothing really has time to have a proper impact but this is still an entertaining film that has some enjoyable sequences and some nice character moments; even when it is bad, at least it's still interesting.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandSamuel L. JacksonJake GyllenhaalFollowing the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.
- DirectorMarc WebbStarsAndrew GarfieldEmma StoneJamie FoxxWhen New York is put under siege by Oscorp, it is up to Spider-Man to save the city he swore to protect as well as his loved ones.It honestly isn't terrible, there's some enjoyment and decent set-pieces, but it isn't good either as it's messy and suffers from a dull, overly complicated narrative filled with disappointingly rushed and underdeveloped villains; the suit and action are better than the first 'Amazing Spider-Man' film, but there's just as much dull filler inbetween.
- DirectorMarc WebbStarsAndrew GarfieldEmma StoneRhys IfansAfter Peter Parker is bitten by a genetically altered spider, he gains newfound, spider-like powers and ventures out to save the city from the machinations of a mysterious reptilian foe.We were promised the 'untold story' but instead we got a repeat of what was done much better before and a Peter Parker that was much more hipster than nerd. The relationship between Peter and Gwen is compelling and the Spider-Man stunts are convincing, but the film just feels generic and generally redundant too.
