- DirectorMark OsborneJohn StevensonStarsJack BlackIan McShaneAngelina JolieTo everyone's surprise, including his own, Po, an overweight, clumsy panda, is chosen as protector of the Valley of Peace. His suitability will soon be tested as the valley's arch-enemy is on his way.Why is this number one? I don't know, this movie is just my favourite among these movies. Not enough information? Fine. This movie really won me over because it has a relatable main character. I mean, don't we all have heroes or role models that we'd want to be and hang out with? I mean, there are some people who look up to an artist legend, and when they get the chance to meet and train with that artist, they become a legend themself! This movie also has two voice actors from THE WORST Dreamworks Animated movie ever. Jack Black and Angelina Jolie. Man, they got the best redemption ever. Jack Black gave the best performance for Po ever, and Angelina Jolie gave the most badass voice acting ever. I really loved how that it showed a very cool way on how Shifu trained Po, and the villain was pretty cool. Another thing, the score is AMAZING! It also kind of follows the same message as Ratatouille, you know, the whole follow your dreams no matter what you are. Seriously guys, in my opinion, this is the best Dreamworks Animated movie.
- DirectorJennifer Yuh NelsonStarsJack BlackAngelina JolieJackie ChanPo and his friends fight to stop a peacock villain from conquering China with a deadly new weapon, but first the Dragon Warrior must come to terms with his past.I really loved this sequel. After seeing Kung Fu Panda, I was dying for more! When I heard of it being revealed, I became so excited and all my hype was worth it. We got a lot of backstory on Po, some more character development and the best Kung Fu Panda villain in the franchise. Lord Shen is who interested me the most. He was actually afraid of the Dragon Warrior but was afraid to admit his own fear. Just because he was obsessed with creating a weapon, he heard he was going to die by a warrior if he continued doing the thing he loved, so he went and committed genocide, which is pure evil. The action scenes were amazing in this movie.
- DirectorAndrew AdamsonVicky JensonStarsMike MyersEddie MurphyCameron DiazA mean lord exiles fairytale creatures to the swamp of a grumpy ogre, who must go on a quest and rescue a princess for the lord in order to get his land back.Shrek is love. Shrek is life. Jokes and memes aside, this movie is overrated and for good reasons. It is just a really moving Dreamworks Animated movie! I mean, it tells the story of an ogre (Those horrifying monsters in fables) who falls in love with a beautiful princess. I mean, this movie is just pure gold. Farquad was an interesting villain, Donkey was hilarious and I really loved Eddie Murphy's performance for the character. It really did tell a story about the fact that looks aren't everything. It was also cool to see all my favourite fairy tale and fable characters here.
- DirectorDean DeBloisChris SandersStarsJay BaruchelGerard ButlerChristopher Mintz-PlasseA hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed.Okay, remember. These are my opinions. I know in every single top ten Dreamworks Animated movies list, this movie comes first. I actually understand why, but I just prefer the other three below more. However, I DO love this movie. I never watched it properly before because I never gave it a chance. I gave it a chance a few days ago and let me tell you, all the love for this film is no joke. This movie is BEAUTIFUL. The animation, the graphics, the background and the story about a friendship between a human and an animal is amazing. The characters are pretty cool but it was really the friendship between Hiccup and Toothless which made this movie great. And what can I say? The Vikings were pretty cool too!
- DirectorAlessandro CarloniJennifer Yuh NelsonStarsJack BlackBryan CranstonDustin HoffmanContinuing his "legendary adventures of awesomeness", Po must face two hugely epic, but different threats: one supernatural and the other a little closer to home. What? A third movie in the top tens? What can I say? This movie just really won me over! I mean, we got to see that Po really wasn't the last panda ever, and we got a badass villain with a badass theme song! I know it sounds similar to Imagine Dragons - I'm So Sorry, but there's no denying it sounds awesome! Also, the beginning was awesome, with Oogway fighting Kai. I also loved the final fight scene with Po and Kai.
- DirectorAndrew AdamsonKelly AsburyConrad VernonStarsMike MyersEddie MurphyCameron DiazShrek and Fiona travel to the Kingdom of Far Far Away, where Fiona's parents are King and Queen, to celebrate their marriage. When they arrive, they find they are not as welcome as they thought they would be.Surprised? This sequel is just really good! Honestly one of my favourite romance stories I have ever seen! It shows real love. Shrek does whatever it takes to be accepted by Fiona and her family so he'd give up being an ogre and became human. We also got introduced to Puss in Boots. Seriously, I loved the kitten eyes scene! It just showed how much Shrek loved Fiona, while she loved him for being him.
- DirectorChris MillerStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekZach GalifianakisAn outlaw cat, his childhood egg-friend, and a seductive thief kitty set out in search for the eggs of the fabled Golden Goose to clear his name, restore his lost honor, and regain the trust of his mother and town.Who would've known that a spin-off would actually be rather good? Ever since I heard that Puss in Boots from Shrek was getting his own solo film, I became curious. So I waited and when I saw it, boy was I impressed! It was so epic and the music score is AMAZING. It also had a twist I never saw coming.
- DirectorDean DeBloisStarsJay BaruchelCate BlanchettGerard ButlerWhen Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. The sequel is just as beautiful in design and cinematography as its predecessor, but it aspires to progress the story of Hiccup and Toothless rather than simply continue it. With the relationship between the pair so firmly established after the first movie, the sequel puts the weight of the drama on Hiccup’s path – and the roadblocks that lie therein – to becoming a man. It’s also surprisingly frightening, calling to mind the Don Bluth animated movies of old, reminding kids that it’s okay, even healthy, to be scared once in a while.
- DirectorEric DarnellTom McGrathStarsBen StillerChris RockDavid SchwimmerThe Madagascar animals fly back to New York City, but crash-land on an African nature reserve in Kenya, where they meet others of their own kind, and Alex especially discovers his royal heritage as prince of a lion pride.Really the only sequel that was better than the first film among these Dreamworks movies. I mean, we got more history on Alex, and even though he had his major problems, it showed that even his best friend needed him but was worried about himself. I mean, this movie has it's silly moments like a giraffe marrying a hippo, or the Motto Motto scene, but it was actually a really great and deep film. It was great seeing Alex reunite with his parents, and how they turned a minor supporting character from the first film into a minor antagonist in this film. Yes, I am talking about the Granny. You know, the one that said, "BAD KITTY!" in the first film! She just started off as a comic relief in the first film to actually something bigger in this film. That was clever.
- DirectorEric DarnellTom McGrathStarsChris RockBen StillerDavid SchwimmerA group of animals who have spent all their life in a New York zoo end up in the jungles of Madagascar, and must adjust to living in the wild.I preferred the second one more but this movie deserves it's spot among the top tens. I really loved the idea of taking caged, isolated zoo animals and putting them in the wild. It's a true fact though. If a predator who has been caged and fed meat his entire life, and put into the wild, his instincts would take over and go to his natural ways.
- DirectorMike MitchellStarsMike MyersCameron DiazEddie MurphyRumpelstiltskin tricks a mid-life crisis burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpelstiltskin rules supreme.I... liked it? Okay, don't blame me! I said I will have opinions! I mean, sure this movie pretty much still rambled on but it was also pretty good! Seeing what the world would look like if Shrek never existed. Seeing Shrek and Fiona fall in love again, but in a different way. Also, seeing how Shrek isn't the only ogre is also pretty awesome. I mean, the beginning is a really childish moment but it gets so much better later on. It was also interesting seeing how Shrek actually missed being feared. It has a great message too. Be happy with what you got, because you never know if it would be taken from you.
- DirectorDavid BowersSam FellStarsHugh JackmanKate WinsletIan McKellenThe story of an uptown rat that gets flushed down the toilet from his penthouse apartment, ending in the sewers of London, where he has to learn a whole new and different way of life.Oh man. I used to watch this movie A LOT! When I say a lot I mean A LOT! Like every week. Everytime I come home, I put it on. I eventually got sick of it after four or six months. The point is that this is my most watched Dreamworks movie ever. My overwatching has made this movie lower, but it is still unforgettable. I just really loved it. I also like the little Wolverine reference in there, you know, since Hugh Jackman is voicing Roddy!
- DirectorPatrick GilmoreTim JohnsonStarsBrad PittCatherine Zeta-JonesJoseph FiennesThe sailor of legend is framed by the goddess Eris for the theft of the Book of Peace and must travel to her realm at the end of the world to retrieve it and save the life of his childhood friend Prince Proteus. If you want to watch an adventure movie, Sinbad is the right type of film. I really loved this. Maybe even a little more than Pirates of the Caribbean.
- DirectorBrenda ChapmanSteve HicknerSimon WellsStarsVal KilmerRalph FiennesMichelle PfeifferEgyptian Prince Moses learns of his identity as a Hebrew and his destiny to become the chosen deliverer of his people.I am a Christian so I really love this movie. This is by far the best Bible-based movie I have ever seen. The music, the singing and everything made this movie amazing!
- DirectorPeter RamseyStarsHugh JackmanAlec BaldwinIsla FisherWhen the evil spirit Pitch launches an assault on Earth, the Immortal Guardians team up to protect the innocence of children all around the world.Aside from the anime-esque Jack Frost only there to please fangirls, this movie is actually rather good. Seeing all my favourite childhood legends working together to actually protect the children was great.
- DirectorEric DarnellSimon J. SmithStarsTom McGrathChris MillerChristopher KnightsSkipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private join forces with undercover organization The North Wind to stop the villainous Dr. Octavius Brine from destroying the world as we know it.This movie is better than Madagascar 3. I really loved how they were put to the ultimate test as spies and I really loved how Private was made the main protagonist. The only problem was that this movie was a little childish for me.
- DirectorPeter LordNick ParkStarsMel GibsonJulia SawalhaPhil DanielsWhen a cockerel apparently flies into a chicken farm, the chickens see him as an opportunity to escape their evil owners. This is a parody of the Great Escape, which means this movie is awesome. I actually used to watch this alot when I was young. I'd still watch it again. It is amazing.
- DirectorTom McGrathStarsWill FerrellJonah HillBrad PittEvil genius Megamind finally defeats his do-gooder nemesis, Metro Man, but is left without a purpose in a superhero-free world. There are some of us who actually like rooting for the villains. This movie was a real treat for those of us who do! I mean, Despicable Me was okay with the same concept but this was so much better!
- DirectorChris MillerRaman HuiStarsMike MyersCameron DiazEddie MurphyReluctantly designated as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away, Shrek hatches a plan to install the rebellious Artie as the new king while Princess Fiona tries to fend off a coup d'état by the jilted Prince Charming. It is the worst in the franchise. There is no denying it. The only good thing I can say about it is that it was cool to actually see those villains in action. Seeing them work together to invade Far Far Away. That was an awesome scene. However, they did the SAME message from the first Shrek movie.
- DirectorRob LettermanConrad VernonStarsReese WitherspoonRainn WilsonStephen ColbertA woman transformed into a giant after she is struck by a meteorite on her wedding day becomes part of a team of monsters sent in by the U.S. government to defeat an alien mastermind trying to take over Earth.I mean, I am older now so I have grown out of it but I used to love this movie. Forget about the terrible TV show, this movie was actually pretty good. Monsters working together to fight against an alien invasion.
- DirectorKirk DeMiccoChris SandersStarsNicolas CageRyan ReynoldsEmma StoneAfter their cave is destroyed, a caveman family must trek through an unfamiliar fantastical world with the help of an inventive boy.It is actually rather interesting. This is a real family movie and it is totally worth the watch.
- DirectorEric DarnellTom McGrathConrad VernonStarsBen StillerJada Pinkett SmithChris RockThe Madagascar animals join a struggling European circus to get back to New York, but find themselves being pursued by a psychotic animal-control officer. It's not as good as the first two. I am still not a fan of mixed animal romance. A bear and a lemur, a hippo and a giraffe, a lion and a cheetah, etc. It is just wrong. I also wasn't a fan of the whole circus thing. I've seen it in Open Season and it is not good.
- DirectorSteve BoxNick ParkStarsPeter SallisHelena Bonham CarterRalph FiennesWallace and his loyal dog, Gromit, set out to discover the mystery behind the garden sabotage that plagues their village and threatens the annual giant vegetable growing contest.Man, this movie gives me memories! I really loved Gromit! I also loved the idea of giving a real antagonist to the duo.
- DirectorEric DarnellTim JohnsonLawrence GutermanStarsWoody AllenSharon StoneGene HackmanA rather neurotic ant tries to break from his totalitarian society while trying to win the affection of the princess he loves. So there was a time where Dreamworks and Pixar were at war with each other. Maybe they still are but it wasn't as serious as it was back then. Pixar had, "A Bug's Life" and Dreamworks had, "Antz". Both of which had a plot that centered around insects, with an Ant protagonist. Pixar did better, but this was more accurate to a real ants' life.
- DirectorKelly AsburyLorna CookStarsMatt DamonJames CromwellDaniel StudiA captured mustang remains determined to return to his herd no matter what.I used to cry a lot in this movie. However, it is very moving. I loved this movie a lot.
- DirectorTim JohnsonKarey KirkpatrickStarsBruce WillisGarry ShandlingSteve CarellA scheming raccoon fools a mismatched family of forest creatures into helping him repay a debt of food, by invading the new suburban sprawl that popped up while they were hibernating...and learns a lesson about family himself. This movie gives me so many memories. While I have grown out of it, it is still a great movie.
- DirectorRob LaDucaRobert C. RamirezStarsBen AffleckMark HamillRichard HerdA prophet who has the ability to interpret dreams is sold into slavery in Egypt, where people learn of his gifts.Like I said, I am a Christian so Bible-related stories always had me entertained. While this is not as good as those higher, it is still a good story.
- DirectorBibo BergeronDon PaulJeffrey KatzenbergStarsKevin KlineKenneth BranaghRosie PerezTwo swindlers get their hands on a map to the fabled city of gold, El Dorado. It would be better if I could still remember it.
- DirectorDavid SorenStarsRyan ReynoldsPaul GiamattiMaya RudolphA freak accident might just help an everyday garden snail achieve his biggest dream: winning the Indy 500.One day, somebody at work looked at a snail. He saw how slow the little guy was and wondered what would happen if he was a racer. So he wrote the story and came up with this... *Claps slowly and sarcastically*
- DirectorTim JohnsonStarsJim ParsonsRihannaSteve MartinAn alien on the run from his own people makes friends with a girl. He tries to help her on her quest, but can be an interference. Not really that entertaining.
- DirectorRob MinkoffStarsTy BurrellMax CharlesStephen ColbertSherman, a young boy, misuses a time machine made by his scientist father Mr. Peabody and causes the world history to go haywire. It is now up to Mr. Peabody to rescue his son and the world.A little childish for me. If I was younger, maybe this would be higher but being a History fan, I loved most of the references.
- DirectorMike MitchellWalt DohrnStarsAnna KendrickJustin TimberlakeZooey DeschanelAfter the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy, the happiest Troll ever born, and the curmudgeonly Branch set off on a journey to rescue her friends.I mean, it's not... terrible. I's just that musicals can become too much for me.
- DirectorTom McGrathStarsAlec BaldwinSteve BuscemiJimmy KimmelA suit-wearing, briefcase-carrying baby pairs up with his 7-year old brother to stop the dastardly plot of the CEO of Puppy Co.Meh, kind of dumb.
- DirectorBibo BergeronVicky JensonRob LettermanStarsWill SmithRobert De NiroRenée ZellwegerWhen a son of a gangster shark boss is accidentally killed while on the hunt, his would-be prey and his vegetarian brother decide to use the incident to their own advantage. It's a good thing Jack Black was given a second chance in the Dreamworks universe otherwise he would still be despised. He is a legendary Panda, not a vegetarian Shark.
- DirectorSimon J. SmithSteve HicknerStarsJerry SeinfeldRenée ZellwegerMatthew BroderickBarry B. Benson, a bee just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his lone career choice: making honey. On a special trip outside the hive, Barry's life is saved by Vanessa, a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans actually eat honey and subsequently decides to sue them.Hands down and thumbs down the worst Dreamworks Animated movie ever made. It is an absolute abomination!
