TENGEN
TENGEN was widely known as the developer that secretly worked to bypass the lock-out chip created by NINTENDO (10NES) that gave it control over which games were published for the NES. TENGEN contacted the United States Copyright Office to request a copy of the NINTENDO lock-out program....claiming that the company needed it for potential litigation against NINTENDO. Once they got hold of it....they used the program to create its own chip that would unlock the NES. When TENGEN launched the unlicensed versions of its games (black cartridges instead of the usual grey)....NINTENDO immediately sued them for copyright and patent infringement. This began a series of lawsuits between the companies which would not be settled until 1994. Below you will find a list of TENGEN games that appeared on the NES....licensed as well as unlicensed.
