Star Wars Grievances2 of 15
Boba Fett was one of the most memorable characters in The Empire Strikes Back; he was clever enough to track the Millenium Falcon to Cloud City, and was tough enough to negotiate successfully with Darth Vader. What fans really seemed to connect to, though, was the mystery surrounding the character: early on, Darth Vader seems to be speaking directly to him when he makes a “No Disintegrations” request.
Unfortunately, Fett was revealed to be a bit of a sheep in wolf’s clothing when his malfunctioning jet pack sends him to the sarlacc pit in Return of the Jedi. Worse still, Fett didn’t technically die, since those who fall in to the sarlacc “find a new definition of pain and suffering as [they] are slowly digested over a thousand years.” This has led to endless -- and very annoying – fan theories about how Fett could have crawled his way out of the pit.
