- DirectorIgor CobileanskiStarsIgor BabiacSergiu VolocEla IonescuThe Unsaved is a drama about about a Sancho Panza and not a Don Quijote. It's about the every day's non-hero facing circumstances and not adventures, it's about Viorel, a 25-year-old fledgling drug dealer, from a backwater little town in the contemporary Republic of Moldova. He lives at home with his mother, his ears get red when he's nervous and he lets his days pass in the usual "laissez-faire" Moldavian style. He gets involved through his best friend, Goose, in small-time drug dealing, while helping him to fly a hang glider that never seems to work properly; and he falls in love with Maria, the girl who happens to cut his hair. This easy-going existentialism precipitates several possibilities, which find our hero trapped in his own indecisiveness, so finally he reckons the moment has come for him to start growing up and act like an adult. The first thing he does is get a job peeling potatoes in the police canteen in order to make his mother proud. The second thing is to quit the drug dealing and become a serious man, but not before stealing a car engine to "tune" Goose's hang glider or delivering some drugs in his place. The third thing as an adult is to develop a serious relationship with a young woman, Maria, who is the lover of a drug dealer in jail, and at the same time a cop's mistress of convenience. All these attempts fail to lead him to the desired state of "adulthood", and our man-boy becomes less and less a hero, and more of a man just trying to get by. Cornered by the cops, Viorel exchanges his freedom for his best friend. He chooses not to fight for Maria and lets her go back to her cruel lover who gets out of prison. In the end, left all alone, he sees himself faced only with a dream, Goose's broken hang glider. The naivety he brought to stealing as in loving, the persistent urge to find the meaning of life through others, the careless way in letting the hours pass by, and finally the choice of believing that flying means only falling, are just few of the little dramas that turn the prosaic poetry of this story into a liberation struggle of the day to day life.

- DirectorSerban MarinescuStarsStefan IordacheGheorghe DinicaDorel VisanThe film is an adaptation of a novel by Marin Preda, a controversial novelist who died during the Communist rule soon after the book was published. It tells the story of an intellectual, professor of philosophy whose life is crushed after he is imprisoned on false accusations at the end of the Stalinist era. Basically the first part of the film tells the story of his fight for survival in prison, the second describes his tentative to regain his life after being released. His release is actually only apparent, Romania of the 60s asks from him different types of compromises and crimes, but yet his fight for survival is as tough morally as in prison.

- DirectorGabriel AchimStarsGabriel SpahiuDoru AnaOzana OanceaAdalbert's Dream mines the Romanian communist past for a dryly funny tale of ordinary people just getting on with their lives.
- DirectorStere GuleaStarsLuminita GheorghiuMarian RâleaAna UlaruThe story takes place in 2010, in a post-communist Romania, in which some of those who fully lived in the communist period don't seem to fit anymore. The main character and her husband are about to receive a visit from their daughter, who has been living in the States for the last 10 years, and her American boyfriend. While having dinner with her reunited family, she realizes that she actually liked it in the communist era, that she was better off, and that most of the characteristics of a true communist do gather in her. During the whole movie, she has flashbacks from that "golden" period, and somehow tries to recapture what her life once was, while trying to figure out and solve her daughters' money problems. It is a funny movie, especially for those who know something about communism and what happened then in Eastern Europe, though based on weird yet very real situations people were faced with back than (until 1989).
- DirectorDan PitaStarsVictor RebengiucCarmen GalinMarin MoraruThe plot confronts an influential surgeon and a carpenter accused to have stolen the doctor's personal belongings from the beach. The police is summoned and The Kid is sent to trial. The doctor plays an active part in the investigation. Although the doctor's girlfriend and his friend doubt the identity of the accused, the surgeon insists in being right and succeeds in sending the innocent young man to prison.
- DirectorRadu GabreaStarsDavid ZimmerschiedAlicja BachledaIoana IacobA moving coming of age story in a time of extreme change: on August 23, 1944 in a small city in Romanian Transylvania, the 16 year old Felix Goldschmidt awaits his classmates for their traditional Exitus Party (school graduation). However, this very day the kingdom of Romania takes leave of its ally of many years - Nazi Germany - thus ending the 800 year old, highly successful story of ethnic German immigration at the feet of the Carpathian Mountains. It is a great story of young people's blindness to the rise of Fascism, the destruction of bourgeois values, a first love and shattered friendships.

Several days later, Curzio Malaparte, the Italian writer who would one day pen the novel « Kaputt », a war correspondent for « Corriere de la Sera », arrives in Iasi, in the north of Moldova, on his way to the front, which is nearby. He is incapacitated by a severe allergy and his only chance of recovery is to find a Jewish doctor, an allergologist who had studied in Florence, called Josef Gruber. All his attempts to find him are unsuccessful. While looking for him, Curzio discovers that in Iasi, several days prior to his arrival, a violent anti-Semitic pogrom took place and that a large number of the Jewish citizens of Iasi were deported by train and that Dr Gruber may be among them. In order to find him, Curzio, aided by Guido Sartori, the Italian consul in Iasi, tries to obtain an official warrant to bring Josef Gruber back. He confronts indifference, rudeness and the desire by the Romanian authorities to hide something relating to the deportation of the Iasi Jews. His journeys between the garrison of Iasi and its commandant, Colonel Niculescu-Coca, and chief of police Stavarache, are fruitless. After a confrontation with Niculescu-Coca, Curzio and Sartori leave in search of the Jews who, after several nights - during which many of them were shot in the yard of the police station were boarded onto goods wagon and sent to a station 20 kilometres from Iasi. Arriving there, Curzio and Sartori find a number of locked wagons from which moans and whimpers of people in agony are heard. Wanting to open a wagon, Curzio is stopped at gunpoint by a corporal. The two learn from the corporal that the Jews who had died of thirst in the train have already been unloaded and are being buried in a nearby cemetery. Arriving there, before a mass grave where bodies covered in quicklime can be made out, Curzio learns that the man he is looking for, Josef Gruber, is among the dead. The next day, back at the hotel, Curzio receives a visit from Colonel Niculescu-Coca, who, apologizing for the previous days altercation, has some unexpected news for Curzio
