"Transparent" Wins Big
One of the most groundbreaking shows of the year, "Transparent" took home 2 major awards on Emmys night. Jeffrey Tambor won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance as Maura Pfefferman, a 60-something transgender woman. The show's creator Jill Soloway won Outstanding Director for a Comedy Series. Last week, Bradley Whitford also won the award for his guest appearance on the show.

Winners Soloway and Tambor did not shy away from more serious talk in their thank you speeches. Soloway remarked on how far the trans community still has to go to get equal rights, pointing out that it was still legal in 32 states to discriminate against trans people. Tambor dedicated his award to the transgender community.
