Monarch Of The Glen
All-in-all my all-time favorite series. Great writing, well developed characters, funny, sad, entertaining and beautiful scenery. The first five series are the best. It goes downhill from there but it's still well worth watching. I mean, how many series went great for five years? American viewers would benefit from turning on the captioning because some of the words are hard to understand.

- DirectorPenny MarshallStarsTom HanksGeena DavisLori PettyTwo sisters join the first female professional baseball league and struggle to help it succeed amid their own growing rivalry.Coaches need to understand that women cry when you yell at them. I wish my doctor realized that.
- DirectorHarold RamisStarsBill MurrayAndie MacDowellChris ElliottA narcissistic, self-centered weatherman finds himself in a time loop on Groundhog Day.How many times in life do we get a "redo?"
- DirectorBilly WilderStarsHumphrey BogartAudrey HepburnWilliam HoldenA playboy becomes interested in the daughter of his family's chauffeur, but it's his more serious brother who would be the better man for her.A sweet love story with a twist. Did Bogart have chemistry with all his leading ladies?
- DirectorSydney PollackStarsHarrison FordJulia OrmondGreg KinnearAn ugly duckling having undergone a remarkable change, still harbors feelings for her crush: a carefree playboy, but not before his business-focused brother has something to say about it.There is a saying in Hollywood, "There are only two good sequels, The Godfather and the Bible." Personally, I believe there is one more to add to the list: Sabrina.
- DirectorRobert WiseStarsJulie AndrewsChristopher PlummerEleanor ParkerA young novice is sent by her convent in 1930s Austria to become a governess to the seven children of a widowed naval officer. The classic love story with children and songs.
- DirectorJohn LandisStarsJohn BelushiDan AykroydCab CallowayJake Blues rejoins with his brother Elwood after being released from prison, but the duo has just days to reunite their old R&B band and save the Catholic home where the two were raised, outrunning the police as they tear through Chicago.Silly, stupid and entertaining. Who could ask for more?
- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherLuke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a Wookiee and two droids to save the galaxy from the Empire's world-destroying battle station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the mysterious Darth Vader.Sci Fi at its best.

- DirectorJames CameronStarsSam WorthingtonZoe SaldanaSigourney WeaverA paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home. This is, the Sci Fi version of "Dances With Wolves," and I loved it. You have to see it in 3D!
- DirectorSteve MinerStarsMel GibsonJamie Lee CurtisElijah WoodDuring a cryogenics test, a pilot frozen in 1939 awakes in 1992 but time is running out, as his body starts to age rapidly. One of my all time favorite romance movies. Mel Gibson before fame ruined his life.
- DirectorMichael CurtizStarsHumphrey BogartIngrid BergmanPaul HenreidA cynical expatriate American cafe owner struggles to decide whether or not to help his former lover and her fugitive husband escape the Nazis in French Morocco.A chick flick about unrequited love -- Shakespeare would have been proud of this story.
- DirectorRob ReinerStarsCary ElwesMandy PatinkinRobin WrightA bedridden boy's grandfather reads him the story of a farmboy-turned-pirate who encounters numerous obstacles, enemies and allies in his quest to be reunited with his true love.Outrageous and entertaining.
- DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsCary GrantGrace KellyJessie Royce LandisA retired jewel thief sets out to prove his innocence after being suspected of returning to his former occupation.Grace Kelly might not have been the best actress in Hollywood but she certainly lived up to her name. Cary Grant has a stage presence like no other. I can't think of a movie he's been in that I didn't like. His comedic talents were highly underrated and his charisma was only out done by his charm.
- DirectorKenneth BranaghStarsLily JamesCate BlanchettRichard MaddenWhen her father unexpectedly dies, young Ella finds herself at the mercy of her cruel stepmother and her scheming stepsisters. Never one to give up hope, Ella's fortunes begin to change after meeting a dashing stranger.Have Courage and Be Kind.
- DirectorBrad SilberlingStarsNicolas CageMeg RyanAndre BraugherAn angel on Earth, a doctor unable to believe, a patient with a secret, a love story made in Heaven.Warning: This movie will make you cry a bucket of tears. I was disappointed with the ending but it was a good movie worth watching.
- DirectorMartin BrestStarsBrad PittAnthony HopkinsClaire ForlaniDeath, who takes the form of a young man killed in an accident, asks a media mogul to act as his guide to teach him about life on Earth and, in the process, he falls in love with the mogul's daughter. It's not that I gravitate towards movies about unrequited love and Brad Pitt is not on my list of favorite actors. I honestly prefer, "happily-ever-after" movies. That said, this movie is very, very good. It's another on the short list of remakes that I really enjoyed.
- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsJeff BridgesKaren AllenCharles Martin SmithAn alien takes the form of a young Wisconsin widow's husband and makes her drive him to his departure point in Arizona. Distrustful government agents, along with a more ambivalent scientist, give pursuit in hopes of intercepting them.Ok, here I go again with another unrequited love movie but this movie is funny, exciting and romantic so it's on my list.
- DirectorTom HanksStarsTom HanksJulia RobertsSarah MahoneyAfter losing his job, a middle-aged man reinvents himself by going back to college. This Tom Hanks/Julia Roberts movie received very little recognition but it's worth watching.
- DirectorWayne WangStarsQueen LatifahLL Cool JTimothy HuttonUpon learning of a terminal illness, a shy woman decides to sell all her possessions and live it up at a posh Central European hotel.A sweet, "Happily-Ever-After" movie.
- DirectorTheodore MelfiStarsBill MurrayMelissa McCarthyNaomi WattsA young boy whose parents have just divorced finds an unlikely friend and mentor in the misanthropic, bawdy, hedonistic war veteran who lives next door.Bill Murray has gotten better over time. He has the crotchety Old Man role down pat in this movie!
- DirectorLeo McCareyStarsCary GrantDeborah KerrRichard DenningA couple falls in love and agrees to meet in six months at the Empire State Building - but will it happen?A beautiful love story about two people who were meant to be together but kept apart by circumstances. Cary Grant is extraordinary. Compare the scene near the end of the movie where Carry Grant's character opens the door and sees the painting he drew with the remake scene played by Warren Beatty. It shows what a great actor Carry Grant was and what a terrible actor Warren Beatty is. I'm sorry, Mr. Beatty but you're a better bad guy than a romantic lead.
- DirectorForest WhitakerStarsSandra BullockHarry Connick Jr.Gena RowlandsBirdee Calvert must choose between her morals and her heart after her husband divorces her and a charming young man, who her daughter disapproves of, comes back into her life. This was a sweet romantic movie.
- DirectorBruce BeresfordStarsAshley JuddTommy Lee JonesBruce GreenwoodA woman framed for her husband's murder suspects he is still alive; as she has already been tried for the crime, she can't be re-prosecuted if she finds and kills him. This is a great movie to see after a breakup. Revenge is sweet and Ashley Judd is perfect for the role.
- DirectorRichard LaGraveneseStarsHilary SwankGerard ButlerHarry Connick Jr.A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life. This is a great movie about healing after loss. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry and it will leave you feeling hopeful.
- DirectorTony BillStarsKathy BatesEdward FurlongClarissa LassigAn overwhelmed but persevering widow relocates her six children to a new town in the hope that it will afford them a better life.Kathy Bates stars in this movie about a woman who takes her six children from Los Angeles and heads north to find a home for them away from the bad influences of the big city (and a bad ex). There are some tearful moments in the movie but (I think) it ends well. I love a movie where a woman overcomes hardship, survives and thrives. This is such a movie and that's why it's on my list of favorites.
- DirectorJohn FordStarsJohn WayneMaureen O'HaraBarry FitzgeraldA retired American boxer returns to the village of his birth in 1920s Ireland, where he falls for a spirited redhead whose brother is contemptuous of their union. One of my all-time favorites. John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara had an amazing chemistry in all the movies they did together.
