Difficult Actors to Work With16 of 48
Chevy Chase
Is known for being one of the most difficult actors in all of Hollywood, having clashed with someone on nearly every production he's ever worked on.
Early in his career, Chase got into a fight with Bill Murray backstage before an episode of Saturday Night Live (1975). Chase, who had returned to host the show for the first time since his departure from it, was already facing hostility from the cast and crew who felt he had abandoned them. This was made worse when he began bossing people around backstage, and tried to take back his former Weekend Update segment from it's new host, Jane Curtin. Murray finally told Chase that everyone hated him, and the two came to blows.
Chase also caused Chris Columbus to step down as the director of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989), with Columbus claiming Chase treated him 'like dirt'.
He was also difficult during the filming of Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1992), with director John Carpenter calling him 'the stuff of nightmares' and 'impossible to direct'. Chase would taunt everyone on the crew, claiming that anyone who had a problem with him would be fired, and would often remove his effects makeup prematurely, ruining an entire day's filming.
Chase also famously feuded with creator Dan Harmon on the set of Community (2009), regularly blowing up at Harmon and storming off the set. Chase said of his job on the show, "The hours are hideous, and it’s still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television".
He also made racist comments towards co-star Donald Glover telling him, among other things, "People think you're funnier, because you're black". Chase left the show at the start of the fifth season.
