Editors' Picks: Week of Aug. 30, 20196 of 10
Netflix Drop of the Week
We have been low-key obsessed with Travis Scott's Astroworld record, streaming it in the Kia Soul like a suburban dad, contributing to the nearly 400 YouTube views for "Sicko Mode," and giving it a physical slot in our bougie LP collection. So with this week's semi-surprise Netflix release of the documentary Travis Scott: Look Mom I Can Fly, we dedicated 90 more minutes to the ongoing cultural phenomenon Scott has established with his personal and populist creation. Smartly, the film mostly veers around his current family life and instead shows the connections between Astroworld and Scott's childhood in Houston, Texas. The hazy and appealing intention here: Scott wants us to step into a fantasy world, if only for a few hours, to stoke our creative energy and keep doing what we do to pursue our dreams.
