Lío Mehiel Shares the Movies and TV Shows That Inspired Their Career6 of 6
"Normal People" | Now Streaming on Hulu
"TV shows don’t often stay in my consciousness and in my heart for as long as films do, but "Normal People" is an exception. I still think about this show regularly when I dream about the types of projects I want to work on. The writing of the main characters was impeccable, only matched by the beautifully real performances by Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones. I am a sucker for any love story, so I was deeply moved as these two people tried, so imperfectly, to love each other over the course of their adolescence and early adult years. I can only imagine how satisfying it was for the actors to dig into the relationship between these two characters — I mean, isn’t playing a love story both the simplest and the most pleasurable thing to do as an actor? Perhaps that’s just my romantic view."
