October Picks: The Movies and TV You Can't Miss21 of 29
Black Adam | Premieres in Theaters on Friday, Oct. 21
Plot: Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods — and imprisoned just as quickly — Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Our Take: Will the DC Extended Universe be the same after Black Adam's arrival? You have to imagine Dwayne Johnson had a vision for the future of the franchise as he worked for over a decade to bring to life the anti-hero who is also Shazam's mortal enemy. Warner Bros. has been cagey about if those two will meet in this movie, which is naturally set up as an origin story, but expect to get a tease of what's coming next as its end credits run. In the meantime, we do know that in his film, Black Adam will be tangling with the Justice Society of America heroes, including Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and more. — Arno
