October Picks: The Movies and TV You Can't Miss5 of 29
"Interview With the Vampire" | Series Premieres on AMC+ on Sunday, Oct. 2
Plot: Chafing at the limitations of life as a black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestat De Lioncourt's offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion.
Our Take: AMC's adaptation re-envisions Anne Rice's source material, pushing the setting forward 100+ years and changing Louis from a white plantation owner to a black brothel owner. In doing so, this series reframes the story in a myriad of interesting ways, exploring new dynamics of race and power not touched on by the book. Some fans might be complaining that it strays too far, but I'm really excited to see a new perspective on a classic story. — Vanessa
