Actress Christina Ricci candidly discussed the financial hardships she has faced since her divorce that left her very “really, really broke.”
Despite her successful career, the 44-year-old star acknowledges going through periods of financial difficulty while she has supported her family. Ricci, known for her role in Yellowjackets, shared her experience of feeling financially strained and the profound impact it had on her. She expressed a determination never to experience such helplessness again and emphasized the emotional toll that a lack of financial resources can take.
Ricci previously revealed that she sold some of her luxury items, including Chanel handbags and parts of her jewelry collection to cover the costs of her 2020 divorce from ex-husband James Heerdegen. She further explained the financial and emotional challenges that often accompany difficult life events such as prolonged court battles, custody disputes and restraining orders.

Speed Racer star Emile Hirsch recently reflected on the 2008 sports movie becoming a cult classic years after it flopped at the global box office.
Looking back, Hirsch, who played the title character in Speed Racer, revealed to MovieWeb that he shouldn't have been surprised that the feature-length adaptation wasn't an immediate hit with audiences. "What's interesting about Speed Racer is that the trajectory that it took, weirdly, is similar to the cartoon," he shared. "The cartoon only had like two seasons, maybe three. And that's not very much for a huge children's show. These cartoons go forever. So it had kind of a relatively short run. But over the years, it just gained this cult following."

“Wednesday’s child is full of woe.”
When Charles Addams was helping turn his amusing gothic New Yorker cartoons into a television series, the little girl needed a name, and he used a line from an old-time children’s poem. He’d been at the drawing board with these characters since 1938, although Gomez and Morticia’s daughter didn’t arrive until 1944. At different times, she was older or younger than her sibling, Pugsley.
Ever since her arrival, Wednesday has been a fixture, her pale skin, pig-tailed black hair, and solemn expression imprinted on future generations of Goth girls. From Lisa Loring to Christina Ricci, the live-action look has endured as the character has aged from her purported six years old in the original series pilot to 18 in the 2010 Broadway musical adaptation.

Emile Hirsch reflects on Speed Racer's legacy and box office flop, remaining thrilled by the movie's cult following. Despite mixed reviews, the movie's cast captures the energy of the manga and their anime counterparts well. Hirsch and other cast members have remained grateful for the experience, with the lead actor even previously expressing his desire to star in a sequel.
As the franchise gears up to return to live-action, Emile Hirsch candidly reflects on Speed Racer. The 2008 movie served as a live-action English adaptation of the iconic manga of the same name revolving around the adventures of the titular character. Also starring John Goodman, Christina Ricci and Susan Sarandon, and helmed by The Matrix team, the Wachowskis, the movie was a critical and commercial disappointment on release, only grossing just shy of $94 million against its $120 million production budget, with reviews proving generally mixed.

If there’s ever a movie from the late 2000s deserving of its reevaluation, might we thrust Speed Racer to the front? A dizzying piece of pop that zooms like an acid trip through the world of racing and anime, the movie just did not connect with audiences…outside of those actively under a certain kind of influence, at least. To say it went under the radar – taking in $44 million domestically on a $120 million budget – would be an understatement, but it has gained a lot traction in the 15+ years since its release, taking on a cult status that was sort of always there underneath the rubble.
Speed Racer star Emile Hirsch is well aware of the movie’s modern reception, although it does remind him of its flop at the box office. “When it came out, it was unanimously dogged…I remember we were all like, ‘Man, this movie is so good.

Barry Sonnenfeld's 1991 film "The Addams Family," based on the New Yorker comic strips by Chas Addams and extrapolated from the 1964 sitcom of the same name, was a pop culture clarion call for aspiring young goths the world over. The Addams Family were a gaggle of murderous weirds who lived in a haunted mansion, kept a severed human hand as a pet, and regularly engaged in cute family games wherein they exhumed long-dead relatives. They loved blood, sex, and magic. It's possible they were immortal; the young Wednesday (Christina Ricci) regularly murdered her brother Pugsley (Jimmy Workman). Morticia (Anjelica Huston) and Gomez (Raul Julia) were sexually active to an enviable degree, perhaps standing as one of the healthiest, most sex-positive couples in movies at the time. They were full of zest and joie de vivre. Only they were obsessed with death, so perhaps the term should be joie de mourir.

Cursed was a very fitting title for the 2005 werewolf movie that reteamed Scream director Wes Craven with screenwriter Kevin Williamson, because studio meddling ensured that the project – which had a promising start – ended up being a mess that bombed at the box office. The journey to the screen began in the year 2000, when Williamson wrote a script about a New York-based serial killer who discovers he’s a werewolf. Dimension decided to have Sean Hood and Tony Gayton do rewrites, turning Cursed into the story of a late night TV associate producer who gets attacked by a werewolf after a car crash on Mulholland Drive. Days before Craven was set to go into production on Pulse, a remake of the Japanese horror film Kairo, Dimension pulled him off that project (it ended up being the feature directorial debut of music video director Jim Sonzero) and threw him onto Cursed, which...

Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams has instantly become a fan favorite since the premiere of Netflix's Wednesday. Some would even go so far as to say that it rivals or even supersedes Christina Ricci's performance in the Paramount-produced films of the '90s.
Wednesday could easily be seen as a passing of a torch, considering that Ricci herself is a part of the main cast as Ms. Thornhill. From the first few scenes of Episode 1, casting Ortega was an excellent choice as she easily blends into the role of Wednesday.
Her most impressive feat thus far has to be her acid-tongued delivery of countless burns ready for any who dare oppose her. That's aided by Ortega's lethal dead-pan, which -- when combined with the razor-sharp wit of the dialogue — leaves a singular impression of the Addams Family's eldest daughter. Here's a rundown of some of her most...

Before Winona Ryder was known for "Stranger Things," she was known for being "strange and unusual." At least, that's how her character in 1988's "Beetlejuice" put it. The actor would become a goth icon following her role in Tim Burton's 1988 effort, "Beetlejuice," with appearances in "Heathers" (1989), and "Edward Scissorhands" (1990) further cementing her alt-girl status. But there's no doubt "Beetlejuice" was where it all began.
The actor starred as Lydia Deetz, the teenage daughter of Charles and Delia, who move into a new house in Winter River, Connecticut, only to find it haunted by the ghost with the most himself, Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). In the movie, Keaton's rambunctious supernatural miscreant was hired to spook the Deetz family by the former owners of the house, Barbara and Adam Maitland (Geena Davis and Alex Baldwin), who suddenly found themselves in the afterlife following a car accident. Melanie Lynskey is one of those actors who always pops up in a project and never disappoints. Most recently, the Emmy-nominated actress played the chilling and cutthroat Kathleen on HBO's The Last of Us and currently plays the adult version of Shauna in Showtime's hit series Yellowjackets, alongside Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Tawny Cypress, and Lauren Ambrose. But in the early 2000s, Lynskey was most associated with her Two and a Half Men character Rose, whose storyline saw her soft-spoken and quirky character alternate between being Charlie Harper's (Charlie Sheen) stalker and his love interest during the series. However, what many may not know, is how ugly her departure from the Chuck Lorre creation was. In an interview with Vulture, Lynskey revealed that she did not have the smooth departure she would have hoped for from Two and a Half Men, adding to her many reasons for wanting desperately to leave the show.

Exclusive: Umbrelic Entertainment co-founders Thomas Zambeck and Brian Katz are bringing back a new Anchor Bay Entertainment with an eye on genre films, undiscovered treasures, cult classics, and remastered catalog releases.
“We had an opportunity to take the name of a beloved genre film brand, one we feel a personal connection to, for our new company,” says Zambeck. “This is a new venture, unaffiliated with any previous incarnations. We aim to honor the history and spirit of the past as we look for interesting films that break the mold, and will be discovered by new generations for years to come.”
In Lionsgate’s acquisition of Starz in December 2016, the studio absorbed the North American branches of Anchor Bay Entertainment. The Anchor Bay Entertainment trademark was up for acquisition so Zambeck and Katz took the opportunity to acquire it. The new Anchor Bay Entertainment doesn’t include the previous label’s library.

Thora Birch has been performing in Hollywood since she was just a tiny tyke, famously playing Dani Dennison in the cult Halloween classic "Hocus Pocus," where she becomes the target of the malevolent Sanderson sisters. But although one of her most memorable roles came in 1993, when she was just 11 years old, that was far from the end of her career as an actress. Birch has continued to work in the industry, lending her talents to television series, films, music videos, and even podcasts over the years.
Birch's career has been defined by a few standout performances in films that captured the imaginations of audiences everywhere, but one of the most inspiring aspects of her time in Hollywood is that whenever she has been in danger of being completely subsumed by these larger-than-life roles, she shifts gears, navigating a career as a performer on her own terms. After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for second season in January 2023. Fans of supernatural cannibal drama Yellowjackets are facing a long wait for season 3 which won’t grace our screens until 2025 now.
In 2023, Hollywood came to a standstill for several months while writers and actors went on strike for better terms and conditions. The effects of those strikes are still being felt.
Yellowjackets is one of the many shows that faces a long delay in getting a new season out. Showtime’s drama aired its second season earlier in 2023, which ended on a pretty shocking note – you’ll have to watch the series to find out exactly what that note was.
Deadline now reports that Yellowjackets season 3 is looking at a 2025 release. The pre-production of the new season was interrupted by the writers’ strike just one day in, and writing only got back underway in September 2023.
The series follows a girls football team that find themselves stranded in the woods after a plane crash.

As Yellowjackets season two viewers now know, Juliette Lewis’ character met a tragic ending.
In the shocking May 2023 finale of the hit Showtime series, adult Natalie (Lewis) was — spoiler alert! — accidentally killed by Misty (Christina Ricci) during a wilderness reunion gone wrong between the adult survivors of the soccer team’s 1996 plane crash.

Samantha Hanratty still hasn’t seen any scripts for the third season of Yellowjackets, but she has some thoughts about where the group is headed in the series’ younger timeline.
In the 1996 wilderness, the cabin that had been sheltering the Yellowjackets team survivors went up in flames. What was Hanratty’s first thought when she saw that they were left in the dead of winter without a roof over their heads?
“I’m screwed,” she recalled when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter on the 2023 Emmys red carpet. “I’m screwed, because now I’m going to be so dirty. That’s all I keep thinking about, is how filthy we’re going to get. Because now we have no shelter at all. I’m going to be cold. I’m going to be dirty. And now we have nowhere to wash off our blood. So, we’re going to be gross.

Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards pretty much stuck to the same script as last week’s Golden Globes, with Netflix’s Beef, Hulu’s The Bear and HBO’s Succession emerging as the big TV winners.
Both Beef and The Bear won four trophies apiece, including Best Limited Series and Best Comedy Series, respectively. Succession, meanwhile, snagged three awards, including Best Drama Series.

Inside MPTF’s Evening Before Benefit with Stars of ‘Succession,’ ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘Abbott Elementary’
Who doesn’t love a group photo packed with big-name actors?
A slew of stars came together to say cheese and help raise north of $2.5 million in West Hollywood on Saturday night at the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s 17th annual Evening Before benefit. Co-chaired by Quinta Brunson and Bob Odenkirk, the annual event takes place ahead of the Emmy Awards, and this weekend’s installment shifted to the new year to follow the TV Academy’s celebration due to the dual strikes last summer.
“We’ve had quite a year, and this organization and its fundraiser has helped many weather the storm,” said Brunson. Added Odenkirk, “I’m thrilled to be a co-chair of MPTF’s Evening Before benefit with Quinta. MPTF really stepped up during a very challenging year to support the entertainment community, and I’m proud to be a part of a fundraiser that will help to sustain that vital support.
