Remedy’s Alan Walk 2 which was released last year turned out to be a huge commercial success for the studio. Remedy’s latest sequel received positive reviews from critics and also got nominated for several Game of the Year awards.

Most of the game’s success had to do with its unique gameplay mechanics. Due to such elements, players are sure to remember Saga Anderson’s famous Case Board. Saga’s Case Board is now an integral part of the gameplay and players find it useful in tracking their progress through the game. However, this was not always the case so with the Case Board.
Alan Wake 2’s original Case Board was reworked
During the Gdc 2024 panel discussion centered around “Making Linear Story Playable: The Narrative Design of Alan Wake 2”, the developers threw some interesting details about the changes made in the game during the development phase.

After several years of marriage, Elvis and Priscilla Presley rarely saw each other. According to members of his entourage, Elvis frequently spent weeks at a time on the road without seeing his wife. This worked out fine for him — he liked uninterrupted time with his friends and the opportunity to sleep around — but it bothered her greatly. When Priscilla begged Elvis to spend more time with her, he said he wished she would find a lover.
Elvis once wished Priscilla Presley would start up an affair
Elvis often performed residencies in Las Vegas. While Priscilla and the wives of entourage members initially visited their husbands in the city over the weekends, Elvis began to restrict their visits. At first, he confined them to only the opening and closing performances. Before long, he only let Priscilla visit for opening night.

Alan Wake 2 is, according to many, the Game of the Year for 2023; this is without a doubt the best game that Remedy Entertainment has made. This title perfectly mixes the survival horror genre with a deep meta-narrative that has an amazing mystery style. Praised by critics and players equally, this title has left a path for future games to follow.
One famous streamer may not agree with this fact and did not want to play this again, Dr. Disrespect. The popular streamer falls victim to one of the main features of Alan Wake 2, the jump scares.

Remedy Entertainment has redefined the survival horror genre with Alan Wake 2. This game, with its astounding, deep narrative and amazingly developed characters, could easily win Game of the Year at any other time.

In 1985, Cannon Films brought us a Chuck Norris action movie called Invasion USA, which involved Norris’s character – former CIA agent Matt Hunter – trying to stop an invasion of the United States that’s being carried out (in December) by a team of Soviet and Cuban guerrillas headed up by a villain played by Richard Lynch. It’s a violent, explosive shoot ’em up that makes for good Christmastime viewing alongside classics like Lethal Weapon, First Blood, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and Die Hard. It wasn’t a massive hit (it made $17.5 million on a budget of $12 million) and didn’t go over well with critics – but it has its fans, and apparently even helped overthrow the Communist government of Romania!

This movie was directed by J. Leitch hints at the potential possibility of his modern-day Kung Fu being shot in IMAX.

While Bloodsport, the 1988 martial arts tournament movie, is widely considered by fans to be Jean-Claude Van Damme’s best film, it almost never saw the light of day. Indeed, according to Nick De Semlyen’s book, “Last Action Heroes” (buy it here), the film was deemed unreleasable by Cannon Pictures head Menachem Golan. The film sat on the shelf for fourteen months and was considered so bad that Golan intended to release the movie direct-to-video.
Things got so heated that Golan refused to go ahead with a proposed sequel to Lone Wolf McQuade, which would have featured Van Damme teaming up with Chuck Norris (who was an early mentor to Jcvd). He wanted Michael Dudikoff instead.
According to the book, Van Damme, who had returned to his old job as a limo driver when the movie wrapped, convinced the studio to allow him to re-edit the film with Towering Inferno editor Carl Press.

“Enter the Dragon,” starring Bruce Lee, is one of the four or five greatest action films ever made. Yet it has a thin, awkward, lurching story. The movie gets away with it, of course; the plot is merely a frame on which to hang Lee’s singular hypnotic balletic fighting bravura. In that spirit, there are countless action films that have functional, bare-bones plots, from the revenge sagas of Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude van Damme, Chuck Norris, or Jason Statham to the “John Wick” films to the action dramas of South Korea and Indonesia (“The Raid” and its sequel). So when you watch “Monkey Man,” a film that has blistering fight scenes and was directed and co-written by its star, Dev Patel, you’d think that the movie, like those others, would be able to transcend whatever limitations it might have as a drama.

In the 1970s and 80s, two genres of movies really took off: the slasher and the martial arts film. After the popularity of John Carptenter's Halloween in 1978, the slasher craze dominated the next decade, whether it was Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th franchise or countless copycats. Movies centered around martial arts did big business as well, thanks to the early '70s Bruce Lee films Fist of Fury, The Way of the Dragon, and Enter the Dragon. When Lee sadly passed away in 1973 at just 32, he passed the torch to other martial arts experts, including one Chuck Norris.

“Road House” is an infectiously stylish piece of slumming. It’s a remake of the 1989 Patrick Swayze cheeseball action cult film, and it’s staged with a verve and wit and dynamic grittiness that make the original film look even more rickety than it once did. Doug Liman, the director of the new “Road House,” has always been a gifted maverick, but I still like his earliest films the best. For years now, he has worked hard to make interesting and responsible dramas, but watching “Road House” you can taste how good it must have felt for him to be irresponsible — to give in to his savage B-movie id.
The action in “Road House” is beyond brutal; at moments, it’s vicious. Yet if the movie is far more violent than your average action film, in its slightly crackpot bare-knuckle way it’s also more humane. Liman stages the pulp...

Iconic action stars like Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Sylvester Stallone defined the high-octane 1980s era of movies. Major action stars relied on their strength and combat skills to face all types of villains in a variety of genres like comedy, fantasy, and science-fiction. Franchise success and iconic characters like Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones and Bruce Willis' John McClane dominated blockbuster movies.
The 1980s was a great time for over-the-top high-octane action movies that were categorized by some of that decade's biggest stars. From tough-guy renegade cops to traumatized Vietnam War veterans, the 1980s was a decade fuelled by high-adrenaline adventures, spectacular set pieces, and acted as the inception point for many beloved ongoing franchises. The success of action movies in the 1980s was intrinsically linked to their stars, as having a major name at top billing was a decisive factor in whether audiences would turn out at the theatre.

The 1980s was a seminal period in the development of what we now define as the action movie. This was the decade that cemented the statuses of both Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger as the muscle-bound box office behemoths eating the competition for breakfast. Having emerged off the back of critically acclaimed efforts like Rocky and The Terminator, the years that followed saw the pair hone their greased-up on-screen personas to fine effect.
It wasn’t all about the muscles though. The 1980s also ushered in the era of the everyman action star with Bruce Willis in Die Hard and Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop opting for brains over brawn and reaping the benefits in multiplexes far and wide as a result. The 1970's was an era of extravagant hair dos and fashion senses that will test the contrast option on your television settings! It was also the time of the Kung Fu Boom and therefore the inevitable attempt of Hong Kong studios to attempt to cash in. Long before Jackie Chan made his first crack at international stardom, we got “Slaughter in San Francisco” aka “Yellow Faced Tiger” with Wong Tao in the lead and Lo Wei at the helm. Throw in Chuck Norris as the bad guy with the incredible chest hair and you have a movie that is pure 1974, released by Eureka Entertainment in their latest addition to their collection.

Athletes like Terry Crews, John Cena, and Dave Bautista successfully transitioned from their sports careers to become popular movie stars. Former NFL player Jim Brown left football at the height of his career to pursue acting, showcasing his talent and star power. Chuck Norris, known for his martial arts skills, used his background in the sport to become a successful action star in movies like The Delta Force.
Becoming a professional sports star takes an incredible amount of determination, effort, and time, and to follow up this achievement with a successful career as an actor shows real talent and versatility. There were some athletes turned actors who utilized their sports skills for a career in movies and television, such as Chuck Norris, who brought his martial arts talent to a career as an action star. While others moved away from their former profession entirely to pursue a career in comedy or dramatic roles.

In front of a very enthusiastic audience of more than 600 fans, students and SAG-AFTRA members, actor Matt Bomer shared an unvarnished take on the heartache, hurdles and proudest moments he’s experienced in his 20-year film and television career.
Bomer appeared at the annual TV festival in Atlanta to accept The Hollywood Reporter’s Trailblazer Award – presented to him by current Scad acting student Eric Ackerman – for his contributions to storytelling. Bomer was specifically honored for his amplification of Lgtbq+ stories and characters in projects such as HBO’s The Normal Heart, Netflix’s 2024 Oscar contender Maestro and Showtime’s Fellow Travelers, to name just a few.
The award was created in 2023 to acknowledge artists whose work, often without fanfare, reflects a commitment to telling stories previously marginalized by Hollywood. Recent honorees have included David Oyelowo, Niecy Nash and Eva Longoria.

The myth, the martial artist, the meme, the man, the legend, Chuck Norris has a reputation that precedes him to the point where, even if you've never seen one of his movies, you'd know what to expect if you did sit down to finally watch one. Chances are, your expectations would be proven correct, as he's specialized in having both supporting and leading roles in a variety of over-the-top action movies. They're not exclusive to the 1980s either, though that probably was the decade where he was at his peak, at least as far as films were concerned.

It can’t be denied that as far as martial arts movies go, the best ones come from Asia, particularly Hong Kong during their action heyday, which was arguably the 70s, 80s and first half of the ’90s. That said, martial arts movies were also making a foothold in the States at the time, thanks mainly to Bruce Lee-mania following the release of Enter the Dragon. Before that movie, very few actors in Hollywood seemed like they were credible martial artists, except maybe James Coburn, a student of Lee’s, who pulled off some pretty good-looking moves in the otherwise silly Our Man Flint movies. Steve McQueen also had training but didn’t use martial arts on screen.
Up to then, though, the most notable uses of martial arts in movies usually revolved around Judo, with James Cagney showing off some good moves in the film Blood on the Sun,...

Dodgeball 2 is confirmed and in the works, with Vince Vaughan reprising his role as Peter. Chuck Norris is open to returning for Dodgeball 2, adding a nostalgic touch to the sequel. Dodgeball 2 has been in the works since 2013, and production for the movie is officially underway, with details being revealed. This movie is a sequel to the 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, in which Vince Vaughan plays Peter Lafleur, the owner of a gym that is struggling to stay open. During the tournament, the team is up against Peter's rival, fellow gym owner White Goodman, played by Ben Stiller.

Bruce Willis' ad-libbed line in The Expendables almost didn't make the cut. The scene where Stallone shares the screen with Schwarzenegger and Willis is one of the best in the movie. Willis' improvised line adds humor and breaks the tension in the scene, adding a meta level to the film.
According to Sylvester Stallone’s commentary track, one of the most memorable lines in The Expendables was improvised by the actor (and almost didn’t make the cut). The Expendables revolves around a band of elite mercenaries who are hired to topple a Latin American dictator. Stallone directed the film and used it as an excuse to assemble all the most iconic action stars from the ‘80s in the same movie. Stallone’s co-stars include Dolph Lundgren and Mickey Rourke, and the sequels added Chuck Norris, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Rambo: First Blood Part II perpetuated a myth about American soldiers still being held as prisoners of war in Vietnam, according to a military historian. The film may have contributed to a cottage industry in Vietnam and Thailand, where false information about missing soldiers was sold to families. The film also included unrealistic elements, such as the presence of Russians at the prison where Rambo was on a rescue mission.
Sylvester Stallone's Rambo sequel gets destroyed for its lack of realism by a Vietnam War historian. Stallone’s hugely successful Rambo franchise began modestly enough with 1982’s First Blood, but ramped things up to ultra-violent levels with the 1985 sequel Rambo: First Blood Part II. Co-written by James Cameron, the second Rambo movie sent Stallone’s ripped Vietnam War vet back to the jungle, on a mission to find missing POWs improbably still being held a decade after the war’s end.

Chuck Norris' diverse array of action films showcases his stoic and indomitable characters, solidifying his reputation as a gritty action hero. Chuck Norris' martial arts background shines through in his films, displaying his mastery of hand-to-hand combat and adding authenticity to his roles. While some of Chuck Norris' films may have limitations, such as dated representation and sluggish editing, there are standout movies that highlight his skills and leave a lasting impression.

The Expendables” franchise is an action-packed delight that stands unmatched in its intensity and adrenaline rush ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
“The Expendables” is one of Hollywood’s most famous and successful action franchises ever. It is known for its very dynamic action sequences and a star-studded ensemble cast with actors renowned for their roles in action movies, with a hint of comic relief woven into the mix. The most exciting part about this franchise is that it is directed by the man of action.
Sylvester Stallone created this whole franchise to pay homage to the action films of ‘his time.’ And to prove that, he assembled nearly every prominent actor associated with the action genre. The movies consist of, of course, Sylvester Stallone, in addition to Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Randy Couture in the titular roles. This year marks three significant anniversaries for director Andrew Davis. The acclaimed filmmaker burst onto the scene 45 years ago in 1978, making an impressive directorial debut with Stony Island, which recently marked its VOD release after all these years. The inviting film revolved around two friends who attempt to launch an R&b band. Then there’s the 30th anniversary of The Fugitive, which has been fully restored in 4K ultra high-definition format. The Harrison Ford-starring action picture stunned audiences in 1993 with its gripping drama and masterful action sequences. The story drew from the classic 1960s television series about a man wrongly accused of murdering his wife, and also starred Tommy Lee Jones. Finally, there's the 20-year anniversary of Holes, starring a young Shia Labeouf.
Davis has been prolific in between, of course. His other films, Code of Silence (with Chuck Norris), Above the Law, and Chain Reaction paved the way for The Fugitive,...

Many popular martial arts actors began their careers playing villains, which served as a springboard for their success. The villains in martial arts movies are often portrayed as strong fighters, sometimes even better than the heroes. After Supernatural wrapped up its fifteen season run back in 2020, the franchise was supposed to live on through the prequel series The Winchesters… but then the show’s home network The CW was taken over by a new management team that came in with the intention of wiping the CW slate clean for the most part. The Winchesters was cancelled after one season, then couldn’t find a new home because it had to be shopped around during the writers strike, when networks and streamers were hesitant to make major pickup decisions. But maybe that’s not the end for Supernatural after all. During an appearance at the Creation Honolulu convention earlier this month, the show’s stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles implied there’s more Winchester action to come. Could we see a Supernatural season 16 someday?

Over the past few decades, Chuck Norris has evolved into something of a pop culture icon. The former action star has headlined plenty of feature films, TV movies, and other television projects that, despite their cheesiness, have withstood the test of time. Or, at least that's how we'd like to see them. But his feature filmography aside, Norris is arguably best known for starring alongside the late Clarence Gilyard in the long-running television series, Walker, Texas Ranger, which ran eight seasons from 1993 until 2001. The show became a cult classic, ushering in a made-for-tv follow-up movie and a recent reimagining, but the famed Texas Ranger owes it all to one '80s Western: Lone Wolf McQuade.

Bruce Lee founded Jeet Kune Do, a martial arts philosophy that influenced Mma. He trained major names in martial arts and was a true tough guy. Charles Bronson, known for action movies like Death Wish, was a former US Air Force member who fought in World War II and received a Purple Heart. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a former professional bodybuilder, won Mr. Olympia seven times and earned respect in the sport. He is one of Hollywood's toughest actors.
From the time that the big theatrical action movies began to gain popularity in the 1970s and 1980s, filmmakers set out to find actors who not only looked the part but were also real-life tough guy actors. From names like Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee, who came into Hollywood as legitimate tough guys, to actors who developed real-world fighting skills after getting their start, many tough guy personas on screen are so endearing to watch because they're authentic.

Chicago – It was another city in another time when Andrew Davis directed his first film “Stony Island” in 1970s Chicago. The film was released in 1978 to acclaim, but faded into the mist of cinema. Andrew Davis is back in his hometown to introduce “Stony Island” at the Gene Siskel Film Center on Friday, November 17th, 2023. For tickets and info, click Stony Island.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
Lovingly filmed on the gritty 1970s streets in the Chicago of Andy Davis, the film features his brother Richard Davis as Ritchie, a white boy guitarist trying to break into a Southside rhythm and blues band that cooks with its own brand of Windy City soul. Based a bit on his brother’s actual circumstances, the film features actual singers and players of the era, including a magnificent performance by Gene Barge as Percy Price, the centerpiece cat in the story who ends up in a fate of celebration.

The success of the John Wick franchise has sparked a resurgence of interest in martial arts movies, creating an opportunity for a reboot of the Kickboxer franchise. The new wave of martial arts films may struggle to find young stars with the necessary skills, but a big-budget Kickboxer reboot has better chances than ever before. Kickboxer is an ideal candidate for a reboot as it already has existing recognition, and audiences would be open to a fresh take on the franchise without being overly attached to the original. A well-executed reinvention could be the perfect successor to John Wick.

America had just crawled out from under its Vietnam hangover when Stephen J. Cannell's "The A-Team" blasted its way into the country's living rooms on January 23, 1983. NBC did not have high expectations for the show, but when the second episode -- which aired after Super Bowl Xvii (the one where Washington's John Riggins rushed with shocking impunity against Miami's defense) -- scored sky-high ratings, the network realized it had a hit on its hands.
It was the right show for a weird moment in American history. The country had gone gung-ho.
