John Oliver took a left turn on Last Week Tonight and imagined a scenario where Stanley Tucci would be the host of the HBO late-night show.
While discussing Medicaid and everything wrong with the system, Oliver said the purpose of the show was not to make viewers feel good, otherwise it would be hosted by Stanley Tucci.
“If this show was supposed to make you feel good, it wouldn’t be hosted by me, it would be hosted by Stanley Tucci,” Oliver said as his reason for discussing hard topics affecting American citizens. “Can you imagine? You’d be watching an impossibly horny 30-minute deep dive on negronis right now.”
He continued, “That’s a better show. I wish this were that show. You wish this were that show. But guys, I’m sorry. It just isn’t.”
Earlier in the show, Oliver highlighted the election coverage in South Korea...

Robert Eggers’ upcoming remake of F.W. Murnau’s silent classic Nosferatu is one of the more highly anticipated horror movies of the year, and the lucky folks at CinemaCon got a look at an exclusive first look at the chilling production.
The first look at Nosferatu was suitably terrifying with a heavy gothic tone. Classic-looking tall, dark castles, scurrying rats, blood gushing from necks, and full-on bleak horror. The footage included looks at Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol) and Willem Dafoe (Poor Things) but sadly only featured quick glimpses of Count Orlock himself. Perhaps that’s for the best, but I can’t wait to see Bill Skarsgard (Boy Kills World) disappear into the character.

Edward Berger’s last film, “All Quiet on the Western Front,” won four Academy Awards — including Best International Feature Film — for Netflix. The director’s new epic, “Conclave,” which is set up at Focus Features, may just best that tally.
Attendees at the 2024 CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas got a look at first footage from the film during the Universal Pictures and Focus Features presentation on Wednesday, April 10. A papal thriller starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini, “Conclave” is no doubt an Oscar hopeful for Focus given its November 2024 release date. Having seen the trailer only reinforces the awards play. Give the devil its due: “Conclave” looks good.
When the pope dies, “Conclave” scrambles to find God’s new messenger on Earth. The search turns into a holy war that is anything but holy. Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski described the film as a “Machiavellian thriller.

Colin Farrell continues to keep busy, with the Oscar-nominated actor set to star in Edward Berger’s next feature for Netflix.
Farrell will play the lead in The Ballad of a Small Player, which is based on author Lawrence Osborne’s 2014 novel of the same name. Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) will helm the movie from a script by Rowan Joffe (Before I Go to Sleep). Filming is set to begin this summer in Asia.
The Ballad of a Small Player centers on a high-stakes gambler who is dealing with debts and his questionable past while trying to keep a low profile in Macau when he meets a kindred spirit.
Producers include Berger for Nine Hours, Mike Goodridge for Good Chaos, and Matthew James Wilkinson for Stigma Films. The Ballad of a Small Player is the initial feature under Berger’s first-look deal with Netflix.

“When you ask a singer to sing they say yes,” says “MasterChef” judge Joe Bastianich while discussing his time as Spaghetti & Meatballs on “The Masked Singer.” The successful restaurateur says despite everything he’s accomplished, music is still his greatest passion. “I’m a singer-songwriter, I have a band, I’m going on tour this summer. It was an incredible challenge, but I accepted it and it was an incredible experience.” Watch his exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior Denton Davidson above.

Questions abounded before the red carpet opened at Saturday’s 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, and not only about who would take home the coveted trophies awarded via votes from their fellow actors.
An element every other awards-show producer surely will be watching: How will the SAG Awards, staged at the Shrine Auditorium, perform on Netflix, the first paid subscription service not offering a free broadcast or online-viewing option during the 2024 awards season? And how will the streaming giant’s viewership formula translate to live-event ratings?
But with an awards ceremony that’s squarely focused on performers, other questions include what bit of comedy might arise when Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt reunite onstage as presenters, an homage to the trio’s delicious chemistry in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada. The Devil Wears Prada is a classic movie with a star-studded cast.
On Monday (February 19), we learned that a popular actress had been cast to bring the iconic Miranda Priestly to life in a stage production of the iconic story.
It got us thinking about the movie, and that led to us wondering which actor on the cast is the wealthiest.
While Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are arguably the most recognizable actors from the film, do they have the highest net worth?
We did some digging and looked at the estimated net worth of the biggest celebrities to appear in the movie. You might be surprised to learn that none of the above-mentioned stars land at the top spot and only one of the is even in the top three.
The top earner is worth approximately $1.5 billion. Any guesses on who it is?

When Babe Paley meets Truman Capote for the first time in 1955 in the FX anthology series “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” it is the story of Ann Woodward that the famous writer tells in order to captivate her and her luminous friends. As Tom Hollander relishes one of Capote’s many rich monologues, we see Demi Moore as Woodward playing out two versions of the gruesome tale of the death of her husband – one in which she mistakenly shoots him, thinking he’s a burglar, the other in which she commits an act of intention homicide.
When, by the end of the premiere episode, Capote publishes his infamous excerpt from the unfinished novel “Answered Prayers” in “Esquire” in 1975, it is Woodward who takes her own life. While not one of the most prominent characters in the show, Woodward and her demise demonstrate the stakes of the feud at the heart of the series’ title.

But when Ella starts feeding off Alan’s darker impulses and revenge-filled dreams, things start to become deadly for those around him.

At the last Creative Arts Emmys back in Sept. 2022, “Succession” was tied for the most nominations (13) but took home just one trophy (Drama Casting). This year looks to be different, as according to our current combined odds in 31 categories, the fourth and final season of the smash HBO series will nab at least three victories. Other shows that will score multiple trophies include the enduring game show “Jeopardy!,” the first season of “The Bear” and the TV movie “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.”
These official odds for the Creative Arts Emmys are derived from the predictions of our Experts who write about television year-round, our in-house team of Editors, the Top 24 Users who did the best predicting last year’s ceremony, the All-Star Top 24 who have the highest scores when you combine predictions from the last two years and all our Users who make up the largest and often savviest bloc of predictors.

In CBS’ new two-hour special “Dick Van Dyke: 98 Years of Magic,” the legendary actor — who throughout his career has won multiple Emmys, a Tony and a Grammy Award — was honored on his 98th birthday for his many contributions to the arts.
The tribute, which is now streaming on Paramount+, features special performances by Jason Alexander, Rufus Wainwright, Weird Al Yankovic, Rita Ora and Amber Riley, among others. (Welcome to Animation Celebration, a recurring feature where we explore the limitless possibilities of animation as a medium. In this edition: "Central Park.")
After three phenomenal seasons, Apple TV+ has unceremoniously canceled one of the best original programs on the platform, the animated musical sitcom "Central Park." Created by star Josh Gad with Loren Bouchard and Nora Smith of "Bob's Burgers" fame, Gad confirmed the cancellation on Instagram's attempt at Twitter, Threads, after a fan inquired about season 4. "Sadly, it's done," he wrote. Apple subsequently confirmed the cancellation to The Hollywood Reporter. This news is a devastating loss for fans of animation, because "Central Park" was easily one of the best new animated sitcoms in years. While sharing the Bento Box Entertainment animation style of "Bob's Burgers" and "The Great North," "Central Park" stood out with its dynamic musical numbers and boasted one of the most impressive celebrity voice casts ever put to television.
