Well, it took Peter Farrelly exactly two movies to go from winning Best Picture back to making broad comedies about dog boners; I guess some people never change. Of course, “Green Book” was only about two dog boners away from being as dumb — or dumber — than a Farrelly classic like “There’s Something About Mary” to begin with, but even so, the funniest thing about “Ricky Stanicky” might be how recently its director was holding an Oscar on the stage of the Dolby Theater.
Actually, no: The funniest thing about “Ricky Stanicky” is the sight of John Cena dressed as Alice Cooper and singing “Sploooooooge out. My. Penis” to the tune of “School’s Out” (for summer), which is one of the signature “jizz jams” his character performs at the semen-themed musical revue he launched after his dog-fucking show was canceled because “Atlantic City went all woke.”
Anyway, those are the two funny things about “Ricky Stanicky.

Where have all the comedies gone? Think about that and sing it to yourself to the tune of Paula Cole's "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" We used to be a proper country, inundated with the works of filmmakers like Judd Apatow, Adam McKay, and Paul Feig, starring big name talent like Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Melissa McCarthy, and Jason Segel, just to name a few of the actors who led big studio comedies that were hitting the big screen left and right. Sadly, times have changed, and it's hard to find a successor to "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," the next "Superbad" or "Bridesmaids," or even another "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."
This year alone, you'd be hard-pressed to find movies that are just straight up comedies. Sure, "Barbie" is incredibly funny, but it's not your average straight-up comedy. "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves...

Paula Cole isn’t the only one who doesn’t want to wait, as Dawson’s Creek fans have been hoping for a reunion for some time. And now that such fare is more popular than ever and this marks the 20th anniversary of the series finale, talk has again emerged from the creek.
During a discussion at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Joey Potter herself, Katie Holmes, addressed the idea of a Dawson’s Creek reunion. Unfortunately for fans of the teen drama, Holmes isn’t all that confident, despite some minor chatter. “There have been many discussions over the years. We all loved the experience…We’ve often talked about it…For now, we kind of just keeping saying that until there is a real reason to do it, it hasn’t been something where people have said, ‘This is the take on it.’”

When things escalate, the feud brings out their innermost darkest sides.
The cast includes Wong, Yeun, Young Mazino, David Choe, Mia Serafino, Ashley Park, Justin H. Min, Joseph Lee and Andrew Santino.
The A24-produced thriller was created by Lee Sung Jin, and executive produced by Jake Schreier, Ravi Nandan and Alli Reich. Series leads Wong and Yeun also serve as executive producers.
“Beef’s” original Score is by Bobby Krlic, and the soundtrack includes songs by prominent artists Christina Aguilera, Hoobstank and even tracks from Yeun and some of the cast.

The choice of music in a TV show is a significant factor.
A well-conceptualized opening sequence accompanied by a great song can be more memorable than the TV show itself.
We have compiled 20 excellent opening theme songs to which one cannot help but move their body. And if they don't, their mind does the work for them.
20. I Don't Wanna Wait by Paula Cole on Dawson's Creek
The song marries well with the show's theme about a bunch of teens trying to figure life out. They don't wait for life to pass them by.
The opening sequence has the cast being playful and carefree in places around their town as Paula sings the lyrics.
You watch it several times and soon feel like part of the group.
It is easily one of the most recognizable opening songs ever.

The pop-music world, in many ways, has only gotten angstier (it would be hard to imagine a mood-poet chanteuse like Billie Eilish commanding arenas 20 years ago). But even back in the ’90s, Sheryl Crow was the kind of straight-up, middle-of-the-strike-zone, tasty-licks virtuoso of rock ‘n’ roll good times who seemed to have been put on earth to make people happy.
She was at the forefront of a revolutionary wave of women in pop — the Lilith Fair generation, from Alanis Morrisette to Sarah McLachlan to Shawn Colin to Paula Cole — but she was also, you could argue, one of the last great rockers to work in the heart-on-the-sleeve, guitar-riffs-on-air tradition of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. My favorite line of hers has always been the one that comes after “All I wanna do is have some fun…” — namely, “until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard.” With her starburst smile and electrifying vocal bravado,...

When the Grammy nominations were announced on November 23, Olivia Rodrigo earned seven nominations including Album of the Year (“Sour”), Record of the Year and Song of the Year (“Drivers License”), and Best New Artist. That makes her only the 13th artist in Grammy history to earn all four of those nominations in the same year. But guess what, Finneas is the 14th … kind of.
We were surprised by Rodrigo’s dominance in the top four categories. Going into the nominations we were predicting her to win all four, which only two other artists have ever done before: Christopher Cross (1981) and Billie Eilish (2020). But just getting nominated for all four is a good omen. Consider the list of 12 artists who previously accomplished the feat:

Do you remember the last time there wasn’t a theme week on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 30? No? Well, it was way back in Week 2, the night of the first elimination. Since then, it’s been all themes, from Britney to Janet, until now. Monday’s semifinal is, once again, theme-less.
As per yoosh, the remaining couples will perform two individual dances. The first round is a redemption dance of a previous style with which they struggled and the second round is a new style. Expect a lot of perfect scores because five of the six new dances are not ballroom or Latin: There are four contemporaries, one jazz and one Argentine tango on tap. That last one was assigned to Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke, who, of course, performed a virtual jazz in Week 3 when they were both sidelined with Covid-19.

Restoring rightful balance to the universe, Netflix has returned Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Want to Wait” theme song to Dawson’s Creek.
All six seasons of Dawson’s Creek are now available on the streamer with the original theme song.
“I Don’t Want to Wait” has not been featured on streaming and DVD versions of the TV series for many years because Sony only purchased the on-air rights to the track. But now a deal has been struck with Cole that allows use of the song across all streaming platforms. The restored version was re-recorded and re-mastered by Cole to get it back in circulation.

It’s a bad day for everyone who only discovered “Dawson’s Creek” in recent years and had gotten married to the idea that Jann Arden’s “Run Like Mad” was the theme song for the 1998-2003 teen television series. When Paula Cole released her 2016 album, Ballads, a double LP of folk and jazz standards, she felt her work was incomplete. “It didn’t sit right,” the singer-songwriter tells Rolling Stone over the phone from her home in Massachusetts. “I needed it to be more of a diverse patchwork, incorporating my roots as a typical American and also as a daughter of a professional musician. I’ve been in this melting pot of music since I was a little girl, and I needed the album to reflect that diversity.”

It's been over 20 years since Van Der Beek (Dawson Leery), Katie Holmes (Joey Potter), Joshua Jackson (Pacey Witter), and Michelle Williams (Jen Lindley) first graced the TV screen together, but fans will forever treasure the torrid romances, musical moments, heartbreak, and "Creek-speak" that the series gave us for six seasons. Money. That’s usually what it comes down to when a song disappears from a soundtrack, or a show is canceled, or something else happens in show business. Yes, unfortunately none of the 128 episodes of Dawson’s Creek coming to Netflix will be accompanied by the show’s absolutely iconic theme song: Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Wanna Wait.” To the properly ‘90sified brain, even the mention of the words “Dawson’s” and/or “Creek” will trigger the opening bars of that song as a Pavlovian response. “I don’t wanna wait. ‘The Sleepover’ Review: Netflix’s Tepid Action-Comedy Offers Family-Friendly Thrills, but That’s All
Middle schooler Kevin (Maxwell Simkins) is prone to exaggeration, cooking up fanciful lies to sell to his family, his friends, even his teachers, all the better to imagine a world in which his suburban life isn’t quite so boring. Case in point: Trish Sie’s “The Sleepover,” which follows Kevin and his seemingly cookie-cutter family, opens with young Kevin regaling his class with a beloved tale of his own family history. It is, in actuality, the plot of the Ridley Scott film “The Martian.” That Kevin’s life is actually about to become much crazier than he could possibly dream of is just one of the many generic charms of Sie’s film,

It’s been nearly two years since Katy Perry — one of several modern musical supernovae reflected in the beautiful, shattered-glass surfaces of “Vox Lux” — launched the campaign for her fifth album by declaring a new era of “purposeful pop.” No longer would her catchy-as-chlamydia radio anthems be mere teenage dreams of kissing California gurls last Friday night, apparently. Perry’s pop would show invigorated social and political resolve, leaving a woker, sparklier world in its wake. “I’ve seen behind the curtain, and I can’t go back,” Perry said, setting herself up for a media drubbing when the album, give or take some standard-issue empowerment mantras, sounded much like all its slickly enamelled predecessors.
For pop has always been purposeful, and its populist purpose tends to drive it away from the self — a quandary that Brady Corbet’s extraordinary second feature picks at with icy fascination. Powered in its...

Cue the Paula Cole theme song! It's been 20 years since Dawson's Creek aired its first episode on The WB, and to celebrate its anniversary, Entertainment Weekly reunited eight fan favorites to share their memories of the teen drama. The magazine released four solo covers, each featuring one of the lead actors—Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, James Van Der Beek and Michelle Williams—and one group cover. (Williams shared her solo cover with Bff Busy Phillips, who starred as Audrey Liddell.) And in addition to conducting exclusive interviews with Holmes (Joey Potter), Jackson (Pacey Witter), Van der Beek (Dawson Leery) and Williams (Jen Lindley), the magazine took pictures and filmed videos of fellow...

It’s almost impossible to believe that it’s been two decades since we first met Dawson, Joey, Pacey and Jen in the fictional, sleepy-yet-tumultuous town of Capeside, Massachusetts. But alas, it was Jan. 20, 1998, that Dawson’s Creek splashed onto screens in its debut on The WB (which was eventually replaced by The CW).
From the first time Katie Holmes‘ Joey Potter scaled a ladder that led to the Steven Spielberg-adorned bedroom of the titular character, played by James Van Der Beek, tweens and teens within five miles of a television were instantly hooked. Next-door-neighbors-turned-BFFs forced to grapple with...

The first song many people still think of when they think of James Van Der Beek is Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Want to Wait,” which was the theme song of his WB teen TV series Dawson’s Creek. But the actor is looking to change that tune by playing a comedic version of producer/singer/songwriter Diplo (he’s one half […]

We're going to give all of the Christmas music we've been blasting lately a break to listen to Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait," because these photos of Michelle Williams and James Van Der Beek are taking us all the way back to the hallowed halls of Capeside High School. The former Dawson's Creek costars bumped into each other at Jeff Bezos and Matt Damon's holiday party for Michelle's latest film, Manchester by the Sea, where they smiled for photographers and surely talked about everything Dawson Leery would be up to these days (Rip Jen, gone but never forgotten). Michelle, who is getting Oscar buzz for her work in the film, also chatted with Sandra Bernhard and Sir Ben Kingsley while making her way through the party. Although this is the first time James and Michelle have been seen together since the show ended in 2003, the teen...

Broad City's Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer dropped by The Tonight Show Friday to play a round of Spin the Microphone with host Jimmy Fallon and Tyler Perry. The game, a sort of karaoke roulette, forces a contestant at random to sing a familiar hit without the help of lyrics. In this case, Spin the Microphone results in Jacobson's butchering of Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait" and Glazer adding a bunch of placeholder "something, something" to the lyrics of her Bell Biv DeVoe's Poison duet with Fallon.

"I don't wanna wait... for our lives to be ooooover." Oh, how we used to glue our tween-aged eyes to the glaring screen as soon as Paula Cole started crooning that angsty jam every week on the network formerly known as The WB.
"Dawson's Creek" was a must-watch for teens of the late '90s and it still holds up to this day. Sure, these Massachusetts high-schoolers had vocabs that rival any English PhD and the life lessons bordered on the "after school special" variety, but it was teenage soap drama at its finest. And nobody on it was truly perfect. In fact, the title character was probably the worst part of the show. With that in mind, we've decided to rank the main "Dawson's Creek" gang, from insufferable... to tolerable. Back to Capeside we go.

Show of hands if you spent a lot of college listening to Remy Zero or Paula Cole on your Winamp?
Okay, you can put your hands down. (We can't see them.) But, we can see why you opened up your ears to the aforementioned artists -- they blessed us with two of the best teen TV show theme songs in the history of time.
From "Smallville's" apt "Save Me," to "I Don't Want to Wait" from "Dawson's Creek," we've assembled more memorable themes you shouldn't feel embarrassed adding to your Spotify.
7. "My So-Called Life Theme" From "My So-Called Life" (1994 - 1995)
If high-school angst and nostalgia had theme music, this would be it. No lyrics, just all the feels.
6. 'Where You Lead" From "Gilmore Girls" (2000 - 2007)
The Gilmores arguably have the most "fall as f**k" theme ever made. Which probably explains why we never fast-forward through it during our binge watching sessions.

It's difficult for any newcomer to make an impact in the music industry, and it's harder still to make such an impact that you earn nominations in all four general-field categories at the Grammys: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. Only 10 artists have ever accomplished that feat, including two in the last three years. They are: -Break- Grammy mystery: Can Meghan Trainor end male winning streak for Best New Artist? 1967 – Bobbie Gentry 1979 – Christopher Cross 1984 – Cyndi Lauper 1988 – Tracy Chapman 1990 – Mariah Carey 1997 – Paula Cole 2001 – India.Arie 2007 – Amy Winehouse 2012 – Fun. 2014 – Sam Smith All but one of those (India.Arie) went on to win Best New Artist, so sweeping up nominations in all four races is key to identifying the Grammy frontrunner. Will Meghan Trainor win Best New Artist at the Grammys? Sure she's one of the biggest new hit-makers of the last year, but she'll have to overcome a four-year streak of male winners. But Grammy history is on her side. Solo women have won Best New Artist 24 of 55 years and have been especially formidable in recent times. Paula Cole should be drowning in "Dawson's Creek" cash for the insanely catchy theme she sang, but she suspects she's getting screwed so she's opening a can of legal whuup ass on her labels. With all the hubbub surrounding Saturday Night Live’s imminent cast addition, it could be easy to forget that there will be a new episode of the show tonight. But SNL does indeed have 90 minutes of new material (minus commercials and wailing from Kings of Leon) to present for our viewing pleasure this evening — and it’s going to be good.
Why do I predict that? Because of this:

And, of course, this:
In short: It’s crazy — criminal, even — that John Goodman hasn’t hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live since November of 2001.

Weekend Birthdays! (Note: Birthday shoutouts are for out entertainers, allies, or for any celeb that seems to have a following on Ae). Paul Rudd (above) is 43, Agnetha Faltskog is 63, Eliza Coupe is 30, Russell Crowe is 49, Janis Ian is 62, and Paula Cole is 45. She won the Best New Artist Grammy for "Where Have All The Cowboys Gone" and may be best known for that Dawson's Creek song. Her followup album Amen was a gigantic flop, but it did include "I Believe In Love," which didn't even chart on the Hot 100, but if I ever do a Lost Hits Of The 90's, this will be high on the list.

I’d be willing to bet that this week’s Saturday Night Live with host Christina Applegate had fewer laughs-per-minute than the three episodes of her NBC sitcom, Up All Night, that are currently backlogged on my DVR. But thanks to a couple of cameos by Olympic champ Usain Bolt (including a blonde moment on The Californians!), a particularly strong “Weekend Update,” and Applegate’s undeniable charm, the show nevertheless improved upon last week’s dismal Daniel Craig-led outing.
One nitpick, though, that I’ve got to get off my chest: SNL needs to stop saddling its hosts with...

Did anyone else just start hearing a faint Paula Cole song in the distance? Just us? Okay.
When Katie Holmes met Tom Cruise, she ceased all contact with her former "Dawson's Creek" co-stars, including on-screen soulmate and off-screen ex-boyfriend Joshua Jackson. She even changed her phone numbers and didn't update them, which probably totally didn't have anything to do with any weird Scientology rules or anything... totally.
Now that Holmes and Cruise have split, though, Holmes reached out to Jackson right away, sending our Pacey/Joey loving hearts sailing away on the True Love for a summer of celibacy soaring.
"Yeah, actually," Jackson admitted when asked if he'd heard from Holmes. "Like any old friend, it was like, 'Oh, hi how are ya? What's going on?'; 'I had a kid.' ... It was very nice, actually."
Swoon.

As many iTunes lovers and Youtube fanatics understand, music (old and new) has become a huge factor on hit television shows and both the show and artists featured benefit from the collaboration. Ever YouTube a certain scene from your favorite show for hours on end? Did it have a catchy song that you immediately downloaded? Yes, the odds are that you have.
Television show soundtracks are an obsession over here and the music played make that specific scene that much more memorable. Take Dawson's Creek, for example. Its theme song (and our favorite show song to date) put singer Paula Cole on the map. It also also continues to remind fans everywhere of Pacey, Joey and Dawson when the song comes on the radio. You know, the good ole' days when the kids just walked on the beach, not arguing just yet about a love triangle or who's going to...

There's a slew of popular teen dramas out there (new and old) that have memorable characters and repeat-worthy soundtracks. But what's most important about a show sometimes is the actual theme song. Some are written specifically for the series, but it doesn't matter either way. After all, I know that whenever "I Don't Want To Wait" by Paula Cole comes on the radio, I'll be thinking about Dawson's Creek over in Capeside.

The Dictator certainly sounds like a great idea. Gifted character actor Sacha Baron Cohen inhabits the grandiose, pompous, and ridiculous mantle of a third-world dictator in the same kind of self-parody that was the hallmark of his stable of characters from Da Ali G Show. Buttressed by previous collaborators, writers Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, David Madel, and director Larry Charles of 2006′s Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and the 2009 follow-up Brüno (not to mention talent associated with Saturday Night Live, Seinfeld, and Curb Your Enthusiasm), the film looked great on paper. Unfortunately, that paper is a script.
What made films like the cultural smash Borat so popular was the live-wire nature of the proceedings. It was risky and dangerous and, most of all, new, allowing the brilliant Cohen to show off his impressive mix of Peter Seller‘s range, Andy Kaufman‘s commitment,...

Michelle Williams and your fan fiction journal have a lot in common: they’re both totally into a Dawson’s Creek reunion. Based on her comments at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new film, the Take This Waltz star seems more than willing to hope a bus back to Capeside with former costars Joshua Jackson, Katie Holmes and James Van Der Beek. “He could totally ask!,” Williams told Vulture after they informed her that Van Der Beek was down to reunite. “I’ve always said, I’m totally up for reunion tours, reunion shows, so we can do that. I’ve always wanted, my best friend [Busy Philipps] is on Cougar Town, and we’ve always talked about wanting to go be on that show, too. It’s just timing, because of L.A. and New York, and it hasn’t happened.” A Dawson’s Creek reunion is happening, however,...
