If, like me, you grew up on "The Simpsons" you'll no doubt recall the show's relentless mockery of the Fox Network. When the Simpsons weren't stomping on the Fox logo in couch gags, the show was depicting the network censor being murdered during the intro to a "Treehouse of Horror" episode. Growing up in England, this constant Fox-bashing was a bit of a mystery to me. What did "The Simpsons" have against this American network that literally aired their show, anyway? Well, it turns out there was more to it than the writers getting ticked off with censor notes or having it out for Fox owner Rupert Murdoch.
In the 1980s, TV was dominated by three major networks: NBC, ABC, and CBS. That had been the status quo for decades before News Corp. owner Rupert Murdoch decided to shake things up, launching the Fox Broadcasting Company on October 9, 1986, as a...

Christina Applegate was very intentional about who stood at the podium last November when she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Watching from the crowd with her husband and daughter at her side, Applegate heard remarks from her other family — “Married… With Children” co-stars Katey Sagal and David Faustino, and her “Dead to Me” support system, co-star Linda Cardellini and creator/writer Liz Feldman.
For Applegate, the foursome represents the full breadth of her 40-year career in Hollywood.
“There was no mistake as to who I asked to speak, kind of my beginning and my…,” she hesitates for the moment, editing her thoughts in real time, before she continues, “…my possible end. That was really important to me. It was about where I came from and where I landed.”

Christina Applegate has sealed her place in pop culture with the lovable ditz Kelly Bundy on Married with Children, as well as with the cult fanbase of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead and, of course, the Anchorman films. The actress has also recently been public about her struggles with her multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Deadline is reporting that now that Dead to Me has wrapped, Applegate will likely never act in front of the camera again.
Applegate recently spoke about her time acting with co-star Linda Cardellini, “Ping-pong is so much more fun when the other person is just as good as you are. I’m probably not going to work on-camera again, but I’m so glad that I went out with someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life, if not the greatest human I’ve ever known.”

Christina Applegate says she’s done with acting in front of a camera after wrapping up Dead to Me amid her multiple sclerosis diagnosis.
The Emmy award-winning star opened up about filming the last season of the Netflix dramedy opposite Linda Cardellini when she hinted she was not going to act in front of a lens anymore.

I’m probably not going to work on-camera again, but I’m so glad that I went out with someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life, if not the greatest human I’ve ever known,” Applegate told Vanity Fair.
However, just because Applegate said she was done acting in front of cameras, didn’t mean she was quitting acting. The Samantha Who? alum said she was open to doing voice-over work.

In 2022, it's quite difficult to explain the deathly tight grip that "Married... with Children" had on American culture. The show, which first aired in 1987, was generally constructed like the 30-some years of sitcoms that came before it. There was a working-class father (Ed O'Neill), a doting mother (Katey Sagal), and a pair of precocious teen kids. They even had a stock "nosy neighbor" (Amanda Bearce). The gag of "Married...," however, was that the characters were all the most awful people you've ever seen. Dad was a slobby misanthrope who hated his family with open disgust, Mom's only survival trait was curt mockery of her slovenly husband, and the kids were various levels of idiotic, each pursuing sex and money with only the dimmest perception of the world around them. What's more, they often celebrated their own shortcomings. They were the below-average, all-American family you loved to hate.

The good news is that original cast members Ed O’Neil, Katey Segal, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino are all set to return for the revival.
Given that the cast has remained busy in the years since the series wrapped, the animated direction makes a bit more sense.

Sony Pictures Television, which owns and distributes the original series, has been working on the animated project for over a year and closed deals with the quartet of Married… with Children stars before taking it out.
While it is unclear yet where the animated Married… with Children would land, Fox, Hulu and Peacock are considered logical destinations.

David Faustino is one of the many actors that made his way up the ranks in a manner that not a lot of people noticed for several reasons, one of those being that he never really stood out until he was part of one of the most controversial shows around, Married…with Children, as Bud Bundy. Out of all the roles he’s taken on, and there are plenty if you look at his filmography, this is the one that really put him on the map since one would have to actively search to find evidence of him anywhere else. It’s there

David Faustino says the Bundys -- just like the Conners -- might be returning to television soon. You better believe it, Bud!! We got Al and Peg's youngest son out in WeHo Thursday and asked if a "Married with Children" reboot was going to happen. According to Dave ... the cast is all about it! As he put it, they're "all in." Don't set your DVR just yet ... he also told us there's some red tape to cut through.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: When was the first time you saw a TV character that you felt represented you or your experience? Who was it? How did you feel? (This is jumping on the #FirstTimeISawMe hashtag about representation.)
Eric Deggans (@deggans), NPR
This is a tough question, because I don’t think I’ve seen a character like me yet on television (black comics nerd who loves playing drums, has a thirst for pop culture, spent his teens grooving to Frank Zappa and Parliament/Funkadelic and has a passion for racial issues and opposing stereotypes in media. Nope, haven’t seen that character yet). But the first time I saw...

I was a teenager when ABC’s The Disney Sunday Movie aired Mr. Boogedy (1986), a haunted house tale, and I had no interest in seeing it. I was beyond such childish ventures; my horror was blood and guts and sex and probably more blood. But teenaged Scott didn’t bother to think that every horror fan starts somewhere, and at every age too – and some gateway horror is geared towards nudging the kid to the edge of the pool instead of throwing him in. If you’re looking for some fun horror water wings, Mr. Boogedy will do the trick.
Originally airing on April 20th, Mr. Boogedy did well enough against CBS’ 60 Minutes and NBC’s Punky Brewster/Silver Spoons lineups to garner a sequel the following year, Bride of Boogedy. As the ‘80s progressed, The Disney Sunday Movie didn’t quite have the same cache due to the rise of VCRs and video stores.

A Married With Children reunion is so close we can practically taste Peg Bundy's hairspray. Katey Sagal confirms that she, Ed O'Neill and Christina Applegate are already on board a spin-off that David Faustino has been developing. "Ed, Chrissy and I told them all that we would do the pilot of...a spin-off of the Bud Bundy story," Sagal told me this week at the premiere of her new real-life boxing drama Bleed For This (in theaters on Nov. 18). "But that was months ago and I haven't heard anything since. But we will all show up if that really happens." Fingers crossed! The sitcom centered around the Bundys, a dysfunctional working class family with parents Al (O'Neill)...

According to a recent report from the people over at Soap Opera Digest, former "Married With Children" Bud Bundy star, David Faustino (left), is headed for the "Young And The Restless" set to cause some pretty big problems for someone in particular that's very powerful. David's character is a TV producer that goes by the name of Howard Green. Howard Green is described as the one behind Genoa City's Gc Buzz. Howard's production company produces the local tabloid, so it's expected that his character is going to ruffle the feathers of a powerful Genoa City resident. It sounds like David's Howard Green character will just be a guest spot. He's set to show up in the Tuesday, September 27th, 2016 episode.

The fourth installment of Syfy's mega-popular Sharknado series premiered Sunday. And in case there was any question that The 4th Awakens would be a slight Star Wars parody, the film answered that right away by opening with an "Episode IV" scrolling prologue reminiscent of George Lucas' space franchise.
Ian Ziering was back as chainsaw-touting Fin Shepard, alongside Tara Reid and David Hasselhoff. With a new team of allies by their side, they battled the Sharknados – which this time have evolved into fire-breathing, hail-throwing, sand-blasting threats.

Syfy and the folks of the Sharknado movie series have announced that April (Reid) will return for more flying fish fun when the next installment airs in July. They include Steve Guttenberg, Carrot Top, Gilbert Gottfried, David Hasselhoff spawn Hayley and Taylor-Ann, professional wrestler Seth Rollins, and Paul Shaffer among others. A new trailer for the fourth installment of the Skarknado series has been released, and a whole new school of sharks is terrorizing the people of Las Vegas.
In the clip, Finn Shepard (Ian Ziering) is in a state of disbelief that he has to deal with titular predators yet again.
But the moment that's worth the price of admission is when a Chippendales dancer (which, ahem, Zierine once was) uses the family jewels to deflect a shark.

"Hey, what other old shows could we bring back?"
That's a question being asked all over Hollywood, now that Fuller House worked America up into a nostalgia frenzy. A little credit is due to the Disney Channel's Girl Meets World, which proved that these old shows could benefit from being bumped into the modern era and given a new generation of kids who need to learn life lessons.
